here's several things for cutting costs while on cruise trips Book restaurant packages. You can always save money by eating in the free dining venues. Do not over tip. Most cruise lines add to your cruise bill a service fee that covers your cabin steward and dining staff.

you can bring whatever you like- you just might have to pay extra fees on it airline wise/ be able to carry it along with your other stuff/find a spot for it in your room. other than that, with something like a guitar, just be respectful of when you play it. the walls are paper thin and certain departments will nap throughout the day- talk with your neighbours or know their sched to avoid noise complaints.. or become an onboard musician ;)

Just with a ton of energy and positivity. If you're a host, you're essentially the face of the ship, so you've got to come off as an absolute star :) Be your happy self and it will be great. Practice introducing fake performers (magicians, pianists, etc)- my line asks people to do this during interviews to see that you can/have good chops!

Sure :) but generally you don't need a ton of experience. A lot of entry positions are trainable so long as you are willing to start from the bottom and work your way up! An awesome personality is key. Cruise lines are known for amazing customer service because they hire energetic, fun, happy people.

Back when I wore them they were proper almost prom type dresses :) long because a lot of lines don't want you in anything too short or showy.

Yeah totally! Have you travelled with one before? I hear they're pretty risky for damage on airport conveyors etc but as long as you wrap up all the straps etc you should be OK. I'm all for packing lighter and buying as you visit the countries.

You can go to the salon the guests use, pay a crew member (some crew-even though they are a waiter, etc cut hair) or get off in port and get that done

+Jessica Stein meds? Ask your doctor for a prescription for however long your contract is and bring it with you. Otherwise there is a doctor on board with select meds

Does working a large cruise line count as sea time for your abs license?

I'm not really well versed in this, but I ASSUME so. For that license you have to go through the motions on an international ship- these are international ships sailing international waters- and the duties are the same in terms of seaman holding lookout, mooring lines, etc. These guys move up to boatswain, 3rd officer etc just the same as anywhere. Best to ask an expert tho-those hiring for deck positions :)

crew pay a buck or so for personal laundry to be done and drop it off/pick it up(used to be able to do it ourselves with own soap but people would steal from others' machines when they were away, use wrong soap etc), but you can get your uniforms done for free if you feel like following the timelines (I just threw mine in with my regular clothes as it was pretty casual- but if you're someone with a suit-like uniform, you'll want it done properly. Higher officers have it picked up from their room and all done for free

they can if you have a standing prescription. or you can just tell your doc you are going away and to up the #of months you're allowed to purchase at one time and bring it all. That's what I do :)

thanks much I'm thinking of going to this school where I live called the travel academy. they train you to be an airline stewardess, cruise steward, or a travel agent. it's apparently highly recommended. I think working on a cruise ship would best suit my interests. my only issue I think would be leaving my dog behind with my family. I'd miss her lol
