Very good point! I agree! I have thought about that and have planned for it. 1 is none. 2 is 1. I have multiple ham radios etc... and plan to remove the first one many hours after an attack. Then, if attacked again, I have several other radios and solar generators... 1 at a time... If there were an EMP attack, my main concern is protecting my ham radios because typical radio stations would be out amyway, but ham radio communication would be around if protected. I wouldnt remove my final radio for weeks. I would then store them in faraday cages in between trying to communicate.

Why don’t you have spare batteries in there? AAA, AA, C AND D, and the little batteries for your key fob……will the emp also affect your watch and clocks?
@LoneStarPrepping
@LoneStarPrepping 2 жыл бұрын
Because emp should not effect batteries.
@christopherhansolo9069

Emp affects electrical components, rine wiriring, circuitry and circuit boards, etc. Batteries have none of these. HOWEVER, some litium ion batteries do so if you have lithium ion batteries for storage, I do recommend them going in the faraday cage. I keep a couple Dewalt batteries as well as a full cordless tool set and dual power charger in a faraday as well. Easy to charge via solar and tools will always be needed.

If you try it, test it with a strong AM radio signal. If the signal goes away, you should be getting at least 50db shielding protection, which is all you need.

A better check for your Faraday cage is a cell phone. It doesn't take much shielding to kill a radio signal. A better test is your cell phone. Put that in your cage and then call it. If it doesn't ring, your good to go.
@LoneStarPrepping
@LoneStarPrepping 11 ай бұрын
Actually, you are wrong. Some people have that misunderstanding. If an am radio signal goes away, you should be getting at least 50db shielding, which is good enough. A cell phone is way too strong of a signal. I talk more about testing in this video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6Szl4iuhtiiisUsi=e2jl2OUmOPJGNCQI There is a link in there to an expert on the issue.

For the most sensitive items, I add an extra layer of protection when possible by using mylar as well. Also, I put things I would take with me if I have to bug out in mylar bags so all I have to do is take out of farafay cage and put in bug out bag.

@@StevenE-xg7jw Im older than you... My advice is to get all other preps like water storage, food, shelter, first aid, bug out bags, plans on where you would go if you had to leave etc... before worrying about a faraday cage. @StevenE2022# The video you saw is meant mainly for people who are not going to bug out. They may end up being one of the majority of the 90% who wont survive after 11 months of an EMP. The new video will focus more on those who will be getting out of town with some of the things in their faraday cage, which are not talked about in this video.

Use an AM radio with strong signal. If it goes away, you likely are getting 50db shielding, which is enough. Watch my video on how to make faraday cage for portable power station. Your 2 way radios are too strong. If you want over protection, put item in plastic bag and wrap in foil.

That is not true that if you lose a signal from a radio that you have enough protection from a standard EMP. Please search "empdoctor galvanized garbage can." To be effective against a real EMP spike you need either a conductive gasket to seal the lid or aluminum tape around the outside of the lid. EMP waves contain tiny high voltage frequencies that can squeeze through even the smallest of cracks. Empdoctor "Arthur Bradley" shows this with very good test equipment and he has the degrees to back this up. He is used as a consultant for many government facilities.

I have his link on my page because what he says supports shat I say. Watch the very last 30 seconds or so of his video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l37GpWxvec6Nl80 So, the idea is, for items you want access to fairly easily, its fine the way it is by am radio test for standsrd emp. For more sensitive items, I put in mylar and that passes the 2 way radio test. And nobody knows for sure any of this... Its all an educated guess.
@chuck_howard
@chuck_howard 3 жыл бұрын
@@LoneStarPrepping I see where you are coming from, and in the last few seconds he also acknowledges my point. If you want the best you "seal it up." If you want the convenience you just put the lid on. He said in another video that 11 - 20% of cars would still function just from dumb luck during an EMP blast. I just want to err on the side of caution. Radio wave testing of EMP shields covers from 3 meters on FM to hundreds of meters on AM. That is easy to block even with metal window screen. EMP waves are sub mm on the high end. I do like your videos and subbed. Don't use my critique as telling you to not keep doing what you do. I enjoy your style and presentation.

It's not that this worn't work, it's just that you wont' survive the next 30 days after an EMP event. EMP's don't kill you, mobs do. When you are the only with supplies, they will come for you. I haven't stopped prepping, just putting my $ in other usefull efforts.
@LoneStarPrepping
@LoneStarPrepping 2 жыл бұрын
Thats rather presumptuous of you to tell me I wont survive 30 days. I have talked about this in my videos. There are ways to deal with avoiding mobs. Riots and mobs are my main concern... I get that. But to have some electronic devices survive, will help me deal with the situation. Its only a small part. I dont plan on trying to fight off mobs. I dont plan to be where the mobs are, but there are different degrees of disaster. I get that if you have what people want, you are a target. Most people dont know what I have and I have plans to deal with that should it come up and I will likely not even be at that location by then. That being said, most people will not survive. They are not self reliant enough.
