What to watch and listen in DECEMBER 2022?

As a new format for my KZbin Channel, I have planned to do a monthly video with my personal recommendations on what to watch and listen to in the following month. I have picked some productions from different theatres worldwide, which I defined as attractive because of the singers or the musical pieces.
We will continue with December 2022. Have fun watching it! Which of the pieces would you like to watch?
A) Wiener Staatsoper with Andrea Chenier (Jonas Kaufmann, Maria Agresta) and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Michael Volle, Wolfgang Koch)
B) Teatro San Carlo with the new production of Don Carlo (with my favourite Eboli: Elina Garanca. Also starring Aylin Perez, Ludovic Terzier, and Matthew Polenzani)
C) Moving to France to Opera national de Paris with La Forza del Destino, Anna Netrebko, Ludovic Terzier and more.
D) Everyone is waiting for the new Boris Godunov from La Scala - a masterpiece with Ildar Abdrazakow in the title role.
E) Back in Germany with two german pieces - Lohengrin and Hänsel & Gretel. The Lohengrin production will be streamed on BSO website on the 3rd of December!
F) Liceu - Barcelona - Il Tritico - with a beautiful cast (Lise Davidson, Ermonela Jaho...)
G) Aida is back at the MET (Amneris is Anita R.) - also The Magic Flute (but sang in English for kids)

I saw Boris in La Scala two days ago and I recommend seeing it because it is a fabulous production. Beautiful singing, wonderful staging and a fantastic Ildar Abrazakov as Boris!

Thanks for your effort with the Video!Lohengrin? Where in Germany? Hopefully not terrible stagings! I would have loved to go to Don Carlos at the Metropolitan Opera! I used to live in Boston and have been many times at the MET

Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Staging is minimalistic and to the point, not offensive or ridiculous. Vogt sings Lohengrin. The music, the sound is simply fantastic. 4 hours of bliss. The video should be on BR Klassik Mediathek , the Audio transmission on BR Klassik, usually available for a week. Enjoy!

@@elisabethgrund-schneider4223 Ich sehe es anders! Ich habe da einfach einen andere Einstellung zu Inszenierungen, zu Modernen! der Valencia Ring war z:B. Modern und Grandios mit tiefster Symbolik, als auch der Tannhäuser von der mir verehrten Frau Harms! Wenn Text und Inhalt der Oper, besonders bei Wagner egal sind, dann ist dass für mich eine Arroganz sich über die Komponisten zu stellen, das Gegenteil von Demut! Da gab es und gibt es auch Dirigenten, die sich so Verhalten, als ob Sie das Werk komponiert haben! Karajan war so Einer, währen Böhm demütig und grandios war! Und der Name Elisabeth-Grund-Schneider 4223 äußert aufschlussreich!

@@elsalohengrin7777 Die Inszenierung hat Schwachstellen, zB Lohengrin's Stimme ist nicht sehr markant, was ich aber nicht erwartet hatte. Nach einmaligem Anhoeren kann ich nicht sonderlich tief in die Analyse gehen (ich bin ja kein Profi). Die anderen Interpreten passten. Gegen Ende, wenn ich mich recht erinnere , wurde die Handlung schludrig; vielleicht versuchte man die Charaktere so als sehr traumatisiert darzustellen. Ich weiss es nicht. Aber die Musik riss mich groesstenteils mit. Eine 1+ haette ich nicht gegeben aber eine 2- bis zu Ende mal 3+ schon. Vor Jahren wollte ich mich mit Wagner vertraut machen, machte aber den Fehler mit Bayreuther Inszenierungen anzufangen. Selten schaffte ich es mir mehr als die Ouvertueren anzuhoeren, ein Augenschmaus war keine der Inszenierungen, zu grotesk die Ausstattung , der Gesang nicht ueberzeugend, auch schon mal eine Qual ,an die Orchesterleistung und die Dirigenten kann ich mich nicht mehr erinnern, aber der Gesamteindruck war eher abschreckend: 'das brauch ich nicht.' Erst 6 Jahre spaeter kam die Erloesung und Erleuchtung. ich finde es in Ordnung, wenn die Kostueme eher minimalistisch ,aber stilvoll sind - angezogen muessen die Leute schon sein. Die Interpreten muessen viel leisten und sollten mit Kostuemen nicht zusaetzlich belastet sein. Mein Name ist da zwar nicht komplett aufgefuehrt, der numerologische Wert bleibt aber gleich. Danke fuer den Anstoss. Machen Sie es gut.
