What tow car did we buy? Vw, Landrover???

Any mods on the t6 yet? How do you find it pulls as I have same t6 kombi dsg 150 lowered to , new to caravaning what will it pull ?

Hi, I had hoped to have do the wheels lights and bumper and fit a reverse camera. But still haven't managed anything yet. We will hopefully get time soon to do this. It tows vey well, I have towed caravans around 1800kg with no problems and a comfortable drive. It will tow more easily and is possibly good upto 2000kg but just check your v5 for max braked trailer weight.

V5 says 2500 kg braked trailer weight, so I’m I right in saying it’s 85% of that is max to tow?

@@luciocancellara4995 so that is the maximum the vehicle is legally allowed to tow. You will have a mass in service weight higher up on the v5 and it is that weight that you want to be 85%. You won't find much that it won't be able to tow comfortably and safely.

Mass in service is only 2114kg so 85% of that is only 1691kg, So what does the 2500kg mean when you mentioned that the max it can legally tow, sorry confused lol newbie to all this 😂

@@luciocancellara4995 no problem, so in an ideal possibly unrealistic world working from 85% would mean go for a caravan with a max weight (MTPLM) of around 1690kg. This means that the caravan is always a lot less weight than the vw and you have no chance of getting into trouble. The reality is that by the time you have people in the vw and you have filled it up with everything you want to take then the vw weight has gone up by 150-200kg so the 85% weight is now only 65-70%. If that makes sense. The 2500kg is what vw have tested the van towing and said that is a safe max weight it can tow even if the vw is fully loaded with people and luggage etc. I would say that if you went to a max caravan weight of 1900kg it's always less than the empty weight (mass in service) of the van and you are always going to be in a safe position subject to not speeding etc. We have got a video on the towing weights also on the channel.
