I think I have. As an INTP it feels like everything you say is an important truth that needs to be put out into the universe, when I have had deep conversations with heavy Ti users it's like rapid fire statements of truth, to see who can be the most profound. We rarely say much that the other hasn't already considered, so we don't have an exchange of ideas, more of a comparison of ideas. It's exhausting, and it doesn't feel like you are making any sort of connection, it's almost like you are arguing with a super fast responding AI robot (and i feel i turn into one too!) To have a connection one side has to receive what the other is giving, but INTP already has what I have (for the most part)... not saying there is zero value in intp-intp discussion, but on the whole the chemistry is just off

It's really tiring, just beeing in the same space. ENTPs are interesting but from a distance/in discussion, I see that they lack loyalty and are too chaotic. This was so illuminating! Years ago in college, my best friend and roommate (an ENTJ who was somehow making $65,000 a year as a 20 year-old student working part time for a financial firm lol) and Iwent to see a movie; he brought along his cousin, who was almost certainly an INTJ. It was fun - even exciting, as I didn't get out much outside of class and the various campus libraries. When we got to the theater, the INTJ noticed the projector light and commented on how the light particles were in a stream; being a physicist, I could not help but launch into an explanation of how photons "like to be together" and why. Before we knew it, we were fully engaged in an exhilarating talk/lecture as he asked all types of questions on fundamental particles. It's like the rest of the room around us disappeared and we were the only ones in there talking. I distinctly recall (with quite a bit of bemusement as I sit here typing lol) my ENTJ friend being quite agitated with us, explaining more than a few times "yo fellas - there are girls all around here looking at y'all...looking at _us_ . Please stop, guys." We took a moment to register his concerns, with me thinking "It'll all be over soon" (with 'soon' capable of taking on almost any value _x_ ) before diving right back into the strange theory of light and matter. It is so funny when I think back at the horrified expression on the ENTJs face, along with the bevy of nondescript eyes looking at us. It's funny because he and I had had plenty of those kinds of talks in the dorm room, often for hours. Of course, there weren't any pretty women around then lol. I enjoyed those few minutes before the movie started thoroughly, although it was more of a lecture than a traditional discourse - but I very much valued how the computer programmer INTJ mostly asked the right questions, which usually only seemed to happen (in my previous albeit limited experience) with ENTPs. For example, most people will ask a question like "Do you you think we're a computer simulation" instead of the vastly better question "what, insofar as you can discern, is the difference between a computer simulation and 'reality'?" You might really consider putting a Paypal link in the Description box along with the others. This insightful lecture, at the very least, is worth a couple of cups of coffee.

Interesting thing, at least for myself as an INTP... my internal reaction when someone says they love me is along the lines of "That's nice I guess... and thanks... but... so?". And I think that illustrates where we get into trouble. Then again, I do feel warm and fuzzy when someone says it in person... So it could be the rationality analyzing it - and brace yourself, this is the cold critical side of us, no offence intended - right now it's going "this is some random person on the Internet, telling other random people on the Internet she loves them... she's really just talking about her feelings towards an abstract concept, rather than us as people. Not interested!". And that really illustrates where we get into trouble! We constantly have two choices: drop ugly rationality bombs like that, or put on a social mask that says "yes thank you for your love! (that I secretly see as insincere)". Learning how to be able to share what we really think... without alienating others... is an art form that can take us many years to learn. BUT - if you do love some real INTP people in your life, they're very grateful for it - especially if you love them for who they *really* are, which includes the above type of disposition. INTP's are intimately familiar with being unappreciated by others for their frankness, so those who appreciate it matter a lot to them. And if you still like INTPs after reading the above, maybe your comment was sincere after all :P.

The communication thing is very true. I go to my INTP sister for ideas for my sculptures alllll the time. Her suggestions are usually super helpful. It doesn't always end with me adding a jet pack to something, but you never know! Looking back, I can see that we had a really rocky relationship with each other when we were younger. She would say something like, "You don't actually believe that do you? That's so stupid!" That, of course, wasn't very pleasant, so I just walked away and made crafts by myself. After a long night of argument, we came to terms and built things back up again. Communication is sooo key. I cannot drill this into people enough times, haha.

ISFP's can say stuff everyone is thinking but can't put into words. ENTP's are open minded, creative, keep things interesting and are great friends to talk to. An ENTP and INTP as friends can expand on ideas and improove them on an infinite level. Some can be annoying and you avoid them or you're great friends with them. Good debates too. Two or more INTP's creates an INTP super Nova of Ideas. ISTP's blows an INTP's theries and limiting beliefs out of the water. Wow that's possible! I really can do that to! Awesome! I really need to remove limiting believes and possibles. ENTJ/INTJ - Open Minded, gives space, can accept new ideas, gives good feed back, improves the mood of a room, logical while having a good ballance of emotions too. Good to talk to. INFP - Too much emotion Intensity but their cool to hang around and are inspiring with how they keep trying from failure to success and are very open. INTP's are INFP magnets for some reason. ISTJ- Closed Minded, Ridged hate spontaneous changes. INTP's don't get along. ISFJ- Respectable, Speaks their mind. If you or society goes rouge with open mindedness and crazy ideas an ISFJ is a good anchor point to reset back to common sense if they have good values. INTJ's - Either I don't like you for some reason even though we're both quiet. Or we get along great. You're a genius. ESFJ - Hell

When they can not agree on some subject, they ask my opinion. Even if ENTP's argument seems more logical, I use my vote for ENFP by supplying more strong argument (to troll ENTP). Then ENFP really defends himself (he definitely used my arguments better than me against ENTP). However, ENTP's endleess patience for discussion is worth to see :) If I support ENTP, however, ENFP could able change the subject skillfully:) or simply accept he might be wrong then change the subject. Anyway, I like the friendship of ENTP-ENFP guys.

I'm a mature male INTP and I struck up a friendship with a mature woman, who is an ESFP. I was immediately attracted to her and tried to see if she might be interested in me, as well. We hit it off as friends and I'm trying to accommodate her needs with my attentiveness, doing favors and little things she needs like planting trees in her backyard and stuff like that. On the downside, we don't (or didn't) seem to understand each other at all. I've tried to improve on that through some research (and this video helped, a lot). I don't want to "come off" as some arrogant jerk so how do I ease the ESFP into simply looking at the research that suggests we might be complimentary? For example, I can see, with 100% clarity now, how my super - attentiveness feeds her need for attention. But when we try to have a conversation, we either end up talking over each other or she ends up personally offended by a perceived slight that wasn't or when it finally reaches "my turn" to talk, the main subject matter has entirely changed again. It feels like a slow death to me right now but I'd really love to see it work out.

This is totally anecdotal, but Im an INTP who used to have an INTP roommate and our relationship was nothing like how this video portrayed 2 INTPs to interact with each other. I think it comes down to having Fe in our stacks, but we rarely criticized each other on ideas as a principle, rather we heard each other out and entertained the ideas the other person had and never got in arguments over ideas, or resorted to name calling, or personal attacks ever. We had so many unspoken principles between us that we both followed but never had to say that there was rarely (if ever) an argument between us.

I am a female INTP with an ESFP boyfriend. Conceptually, I never imagine myself dating an ESFP but here I am dating one and worrying about our long term future because I have learnt from the many other sources that theoretically we N types should go for other N types so we can relate on our abstract thoughts and doing otherwise can be dissatisfying, and I can see how that makes sense. Much to my surprise, I find myself having good chemistry with this ESFP(probably because of the compatibility of cognitive functions you are describing here), but the conflict arises when I have the need to tell him the truth(I am obsessed with discovering and discussing the truth), whilst he is very sensitive and cannot handle it and sometimes does not see the point. Also, the truth can sometimes change once you accumulate more knowledge so that bothers him that I continuously adjust my theories on things. I can see if we are able to overcome this, how beneficial we will be for each other. He brings me back to the real world, helps with assimilate with other humans and I help him see the big picture that he misses living in the moment. Your video gave me relieve.

Funny my friends are ENFJs, ESFJ, ISTJ and ENFP. Except for the ISTJ I'm always surrounded by extroverts because they are the only one to push me outside my comfort zone. Without them I'd be too lazy to interact with the social world (I mean the irl social world). At first it was exhausting to deal with all of their feelings and their needs but with time (8 years for most of them now) we sort of found a peaceful balance between us. They allow me not to respond my messages for a week or two max, after they just throw me off my bed to discover the outside world yet again. And it's really benefic for me. I think INTPs left alone too long become unhealthy and trapped in our "I'm a nerdy nerd genius out of the box weirdo f all the humanity I just need my computer and wifi to be untertained". Thanks to these difficult interaction with others my "chameleon superpower" is at his best and I can control my anxiety quite good in a room full of strangers as long as I have at least one friend beside me. It doesn't mean that it doesn't drain me any longer, it's just that now I can tolerate and be more patient with stressfull interactions. As for the ESFJ part, my father is one of them and he's the person I treasure the most on Earth. He was a very dedicated dad and he'd always respect my pace, and take me to forests and peaceful environments so I could blossom during my childrenhood. Also he's a mathematician/physician and has a huuuuuge knowledge about everything (and I'm lowkey jealous) so maybe that's why we can talk easily, mostly'about science and eclectic facts. But yes in fact he was sometimes severe and pernickety with me, and I didn't take theses moments well at all but I have the chance that aside this part of his personnality his the most caring and loving person I know. My ISTJ mother was the real problem. I think INTP relationships all depend on how much time an INTP works on developing their social awareness. If INTPs recognize their social faults and take the time to understand them they would be more understanding in their interactions with other INTPs. I know that as an INTP, I can spot an introverted thinker from a mile away. I don’t want to loose out on their potential contribution when we work on a team but I also know their faults (they are also mine) so I try to ground myself in reality - which may close me off to their full conceptual understanding. I also know that they are like me and don’t always trust authority or blindly do what they are told. So I don’t trust them as much as I would trust someone else - until they show me they understand when they need to follow the rules. If the relationship is more familial (like a sibling) then it is a bit harder to find common ground because we are Not invested in each other through a contract. I know my colleague at work wants the best result for a common vision in a company. Familial bonds are different.

Believe me ESFP and INTP friendship works 100%. Like my best friend is INTP and it’s like a match made in heaven. I get the spotlight😂😂. I have both introverted and extroverted friends and i definitely feel better around introverted friends cause i am definitely the loudest. Most of my other friends are ESFJs,ENFJ and ENTP though. I give her fashion advice that she doesn’t always take. I’m her make-up artist. I kind of get her out of the bubble. We run in different circles now,but she doesn’t have many friends beside me and like 3 others so she often hangs out with my gang. I kind of bring her to the real world. Like she usually has no clue about what’s going on neither in media or at school or what events are next. And she kind of brings me to her world which is more like science, books etc.
@OmbreDeLaClairLune6 жыл бұрын
Rewritten version: 1- INTP here, asking for advice. 2- Ok, so my two best friends are ESFP and ISFJ. ESFP and I are disagreeing a lot recently, usually about rules/responsibility. She either argues back with "I do what I want" one something like that, or just laughs it off. ISFJ either tries to break up the argument or sides with ESFP. 3- I have an INTJ friend, but I almost never see her because she's busy. 4- I'm pretty sure I'm an INTP, but I do start lots of new projects and don't finish them. Also, my Ne parent tends to only activate when I'm imagining someone's reaction to something I said or commented, in extreme hypotheticals like Ne inferior, or when I make a conscious decision to think of possible futures for someone in the case it has something to do with me. (Maybe because I'm way too young to start using a parent function properly yet.) 5- I can't take my peers seriously because I've stupid-zoned almost all of them.

In terms of cognitive functions, I think that one of the problems for INTPs is that in Western society not only do extroverts outnumber introverts 3:1 in general, but SJs traditionalists and enforcers (Si > Ne) outnumber nonconformist and possibly degenerate NTPs (Ne > Si) 6:1 (16:1 vs. INTPs). On average I'd expect that being out of step in a life-long competition rigged against them can encourage a person to get very used to either using their Shadow functions or shutting the world out - something an INTP can manage (Si child vs. Se trickster distraction) far more than an ENTP can afford to do (Si inferior vs. Se demon pain). Likewise ENTPs can shut hypocritical bastards out of their "us"-group better than INTPs. How those people being shut out (for the NTP's emotional and physical well-being) react is a good indication of how unequitable the power exchange has been. If the NTP really is the immature one, it's on the "adult" in the relationship to be a responsible adult about the conflict. Can NTPs be good friends? Sure! The INTPs are ignoring and the ENTPs are avoiding/driving away the ones they really can't stand. Logic, for the win. Likewise, SPs are doing their best to drive our more-workaholic-than-thou NTJ cousins to drink, etc. :)

Depends on the source. Isabel Myers estimated introversion at 25% of the population, while the Myers-Briggs organization in 1998 later showed Introverts 50.7% and Extroverts 49.3% of the USA. Introverted types at personalitymax.com/personality-types/population-gender/ sum up to 34% ( How different people will respond to the sorting questions can be skewed by how the question is worded. ) "Researchers estimate extroverts make up 50 - 74 percent of the population... ...The other 16 - 50 percent of the population consists of introverts" www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/thrive/201205/are-extroverts-happier-introverts I'll assume the writer was aiming for "26 - 50 percent". Split the difference at 2:1, and note that much can depend on what criteria researchers are using for "extroversion" and "introversion"?

I can understand being sick of someone similar to me in an INTP-INTP interaction, but one of my best friends is an INTP too. I feel we are both too passive to get on each others nerves. I lived with him for several years in college and neither of us like fought for intellectual superiority or anything, we both have our separate individual fascinations to share with one another now and again and had a shared love of video games and cheesy old sci-fi movies. Admittedly as the one with the stronger sense of social awareness and responsibility I picked up some of his slack on household chores and whatnot which I resented somewhat at times, but that's just a reality of living with someone.

Do you have an INFJ to INTP compatibility video planned? Would love the deeper insights to the functional stacks and their compatibility - specifically as to how romantic relationships would play out between the two.

I'm an INTP and my best friend is an ENTJ. It makes sense.

INTP here. I'm so impressed with your intuition Jo-jo. How did you learn about all of this? How much do you believe in it related to psychology? I am truly interested to know. My ISFP friend says that MBTI is complete nonsense because he took a psychology course once in college. I swear you describe all of my relationships to a t....almost to the point of getting emotional or being liberated that I can understand why my childhood was so bad growing up. My mom is an ESFJ. My dad is an ISFJ and he was abusive to me growing up like you described and my brother is an ISTJ. I feel like just telling you that, you understand my pain without having to say any more. Very liberating. My INTP friend competes with me exactly the way you describe. I am secure enough though to often de-escalate and not usually engage too much when he challenges me constantly. I also respect ENTJs exactly like you describe even though I'm not always close to the ones I know but I would like to be perhaps. I would love to just suck up all of your knowledge. You would make for an interesting friend to have....as long as you don't "shrink" me too much because I would be at a disadvantage. haha

I'm an intp myself with an intp best friend and I literally found nothing relatable about your intp-intp conversation. Why the hell would literally anyone think we communicate like that?

@C.S. Joseph Thanks for that video, really interesting ! I wondered if you had some interesting insights on Extraverts VS Introverts, cause all I read everywhere is that it's related to what gives you or drains your energy, do you need to spend time alone to gain energy or do you need to go out and meet people. Well I ask you that cause I'm an INTP and my best friend is an ENTJ ( perfect combination according to your video!), and we really share the same thoughts about social interactions, he's an extrovert but he prefers staying alone and has just a few close friends and he'd rather stay at home reading a book than going to a bar and meet a lot of people. The main thing that parts us and make it obvious that he's an extrovert and I'm an introvert is that he's SUPER confortable in social situations, talks to everybody, initiates conversations, becomes incredibly popular within seconds etc, and I'm super inconfortable as I hate small talk and I just want to get out of there as soon as possible and I prefer one-one-one or really small groups interactions. So my thought is: Why an extrovert like him does behave just like me, just having few close friends and spend most of his time reading alone at home instead of going out, I really start to think that this E vs I thing is much more complex than it seems
