And yet, there can be no hatred for Melkor. For he played the role Eru Illuvatar gave him. Eru knew that for a perfect world to be, it had to first be imperfect, and chose to collect the entire imperfection in one role and entrusted that to Melkor. He would not have sang discordant notes if Eru had not meant for him to. For Eru could have easily stopped him, yet didn't. It could even be argued that Eru ought to be grateful to Melkor for accepting the role of not accepting his place in creation.
@midgetydeath8 ай бұрын
It's not even clear if the ainur are true individuals like the Children of Illuvatar are. Remember the nature of the dwarves when first created by Aule? Perhaps the ainur are like that to Eru Illuvatar and were never given true life in the first place. If so, Melkor can't even actually be held responsible for any of his "decisions" and neither can Sauron since they wouldn't have free will.

I’m curious to see how Melkor/Morgoth would look in live action, animation or in a game, hopefully they don’t make him just a bigger Sauron, giving him a unique, intimidating yet grand design, leaning into his Satan/Lucifer influences could separate his appearance from Sauron’s more, I incorporate a Satanic influence and some Balrog with some details that are reminiscent of Sauron in my drawings of Melkor/Morgoth. Weta did such a phenomenal job with Sauron’s design that it’ll be hard to do Morgoth right.

I thought u we’re going to talk about how his true literal weakening stemmed from the marring of arda, and that the more he did to corrupt, the more arda and its beings became corrupted, but the weaker HE became. Just like with Sauron putting his power into the ring and becoming weaker without it, except Morgoth couldn’t reclaim his spent power. That’s part of why he stayed in the safety of angband, because he had already weakened himself greatly, which is probably the only way fingolfin was able to do so well and injure him like that.

What I love about this world, is as mighty & skilled as the elves are, they envy human life (or at least the oldest and wisest do) But the humans envy the longevity of the other races (hobbits 100+ years, certain blessed humans 200+, Dwarves 600+, Elves immortal?) Humans are seen as children, not just because their lifespans are short, but because most don’t use their limited time to show their potential Some master human smiths, have crafted weapons/items on par (or just below) with dwarves and elven masters While some human warriors can fight, just as hard, as literal immortals

Melkor's mistake was in wanting to have the (Secret Fire) power of creation like Eru. Within the framework of the nihilist philosophy into which he was dragged, his desire to destroy is a result of not having the power and ability to create. This is not actually a mistake. Because Melkor, like the other Ainur, is a reflection of the part of Eru's mind from which he came. Therefore, the problem here is God (Eru) himself.

Someone educate me here. Was Melkor's original purpose not to act as an assistant and confident of sorts to Eru? If so, is his fall not directly the fault of Iluvatar? Look at it from Melkor's point of view: all day long your friend gets to play with paints and art supplies. They ask you for your thoughts and talk to you about what they are painting and how their project will go. You, however, are never allowed to try and paint for yourself. That would bother me.

In a sense yes, especially there were complete 7 of them, yes Ungoliant was empowered by the Light of the Two Tress but her Spider body was bound mortal she’s only super-powerful but not invincible, for Balrogs are no ordinary foes either, they’re Morgoth’s main Warhammer soldiers in his arsenal and let’s not forget they were once Maiar, primordial divine angelic spirits who like their superior brethren The Valar, existed before time and creation began and they have powers akin to that of a Demigod and even when Morgoth corrupted them to service they still retain their Maiar powers so yes combine all 7 together combine could definitely slay Ungoliant hence why the reason she immediately flees because she knows she’s outmatched by the full might of the Balrogs even with her super powered form

"for it's own sake" really? Doesn't literally everybody who is tempted by the ring have a "sake" that isn't power itself, in fact isn't that quite literally the entire point Tolkien makes. Maybe it's just the seeking of power for ANY sake. Or maybe gandalf doesn't make the point that "Yet the way of the Ring to my heart is by pity, pity for weakness and the desire of strength to do good. Do not tempt me! I dare not take it, not even to keep it safe, unused." Maybe Tolkien didn't write that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Think about it, did gandalf want to be sent to Arda at all? Maybe his lack of desire to become one of the Istari is exactly WHY he was the best one. 🤔 Not to be nit-picky but people always say "power for power's sake" and it really pisses me off that it's literally the opposite, it's for SOME sake every single time. I honestly don't mean to single you out when so many other folks say this same thing so often. Otherwise very good video. I totally agree about the desire for dominance. Liked and subbed o7

Yes, a little bit but it was more intricate and interesting. But yes, that's what it's like. It was meant to be a mythology of creation. He was Catholic. The only difference is there's not going to be a final battle between Good and evil. He didn't want to undo all the good that was done. It's an enjoyable story. But yes, this is a tribute to the Bible. Not a mockery of any kind. It's a tribute to love and life and the fight against evil.

@BrianEthridge-wg6ko to put it simply, Saruon goes to being the ultimate perfection in his own way. Believe he knows what best than his creator, anyone who doesn't is his enemy. Much like humans believes they know better than God by trying to insert their own goals above other. Sauron is what considered the idea of the ultimate or perfect human, which is irony as the more evil Sauron became more human he has become, losing his omnipotent wisdom. For example why mount doom was left unguarded because Sauron believes no one would destroy his ring. It wasn't even a thought he bother toyed with, believeing his enemies would try to used his ring against him.
@BrianEthridge-wg6ko9 ай бұрын
@@bloodysimile4893 Thank you for that response. I really mean that. I can't argue with it. That's quite thoughtful and intuitive. I didn't think about it like that. I think philosophy is kind of a joke because it just creates a circle but a circle of life is the same thing. It works that way because that's the only way it can. I think evil is the exact same way you can't have good without the bad!! How you can you call yourself good or be happy and good if you have no reference point. Guess the true meaning of it is the human race always needs something to rage against!!!
