I came to watch because the thumbnail was Rosie the shark. I also think the Plesiosaur is more likely for the River Cruise because their mouths weren't as big as a Mosasaur, I think. It would have a harder time biting into the vessel containing the guests and would be a better choice, however if we don't consider either of them then Ichthyosaurus make more sense for that ride. (I don't know much about dinos, mainly guessing from the very little I know/remember)

Whos Rosie the shark?

Not really, the river cruise was, essentially, something that we have seen a t least a good chunk of what it would be as there had been plans for it which did get folded into the River Adventure ride that Universal made for their parks a couple years later...which combines with the book about reasons for the delays such as the pterosaur issue
@AnimalsVehiclesAndMore4 ай бұрын
@@ThePrincessziah1 Rosie was a female Great White Shark who was caught off the coast of Australia in 1997. She was very badly injured when she was caught, and she was euthanized as a result. However, her body was preserved in a custom-built glass tank filled with formaldehyde, and she was put on display at the Wildlife Wonderland Park in Australia. Rosie sat on display at the park until the park closed in 2012 due to operating without a license, as well as animal welfare concerns. The animals were relocated, but Rosie's body was left behind. The park was abandoned and left to rot, and Rosie was forgotten. However, a man named Luke McPherson went urban exploring at the abandoned Wildlife Wonderland in 2019 and discovered Rosie. Luke posted a video of his adventure to KZbin, and that video went viral. However, Rosie's tank was heavily vandalized afterwards by vandals, and the formaldehyde was leaking out of the tank, causing huge health and safety concerns. Luckily, the formaldehyde was completely drained, and Rosie and her tank were relocated to Crystal World, where they reside to this very day. You can now happily go see Rosie the Shark on display once again.

Interesting that in all this theory crafting, you make no reference to the original book which sheds some light on the matter. The lagoon in question is in the psoropod (forgive the spelling) paddock with the triceratops. Allan and the children actually wind up taking a raft to escape from Rexy and get chased across the lagoon by Rexy before a juvenile Rex comes to steal Rexy's kill so Rexy turns back to chase them away. The "Jungle Cruise" ride mentioned in the CD rom was actually suspended because it turns out that the dilophosaurs (the ones who kill Nedry) love to hang out along the river bank and the fences aren't far enough back from the bank to prevent them hitting passengers on the river with their toxic spit. Incidentally, in the book the Costa Rican government has a much more logical response at the end where minutes after the survivors are evacuated, the military goes in and firebombs the island, wiping out the population. Also, the nerd in me can't help asking: how's a mosquito or fly supposed to get blood from an aquatic animal to preserve it for cloning?
@nickk74254 ай бұрын
Thank you! I have been asking that same question forever! How would a misquote suck the blood of an animal that lives under water??

I think in the book, Dr wu mentioned that they had a way to get proteins from fossilized bone and retranslate it into DNA. Or not, I think I heard that in a video or something a little ways back
@MrDeadlysirius4 ай бұрын
ingen had incredibly advanced methods of cloning and genetic manipulation. they could pull from fossilized bone and preserved dna in amber. however they also just filled in any gaps with other animals DNA. Its why the Rex has trouble seeing stationary animals, due to its amphibian DNA. Ian Malcolm makes a good point in the book that these arent even really dinosaurs, but genetic experiments made to be freakish and awe inspiring, not accurate.
@Eric-mx1eh4 ай бұрын
Just spit balling here but since they are air breathers they have to surface to breathe and while at the surface a mosquito could then land on them and suck their blood. Another way is supposed they got beached much as happens from time to time with whales and other large aquatic creatures today and while they were still alive but stuck on the beach a mosquito then sucked it's blood.

So as a guy whose moved around A LOT, I've found myself going along with things and ending up in really weird places for reasons unknown to me. Many times I found myself in strange company with groups of people who either I have no idea who they are, or I have no idea what our affiliation is with each other, or we just don't speak each other's language. I think it would be neat if there was a story about a dude like me who was on just another of his father's ventures and my quest to find a good place to take a nap resulted in a handful of people getting separated and left to drift to a certain island. So already, we have a mixed age group, a multi-language barrier, a goal in mind, and a need for survival. This is imo, a beautiful story that takes it back to its roots.

I'm pretty sure the reason Spielberg canceled the animated series is the same reason he canceled the fourth movie AND didn't touch the franchise again until AFTER Crichton died and that was because when he made the third movie Crichton got angry and threatened legal action if Spielberg continued to try and steal the franchise as he had with 100% of everything else he ever made.

Unfortunately, the lagoon shown on the map is covered as not having anything in it with stuff in cannon...it has a major plot point in the Evolution of Claire book which is still in the timeline due to various things with it. It's something that had various toxic buildup from the volcano that kept it warmer than normal there, and during the recovery of Nublar by Masrani, the Brachiosaurus herd was hanging out near there along with a few other species that were having issues with sickness and the source was discovered. Sure, that book has several issues with things, but it's still cannon and less of an issue than the Maisie retcons between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion...

Determining cannonicity is tricky with JP. There is a lot of media and splits. In the book we get to see the river ride and seceet facilities compound enterence behind a waterfall, linking a good deal of the attractions. The river also runs through a good deal of the island areas, creating a natural border the opperatirs can also use as a means to travel between them. Inferedly, the lagoon would be connected ss well thoygh one is not mentioned in there as far as i am aware. The telltale game acts as a midquil of the movie and links more of the book details. For instance, the amusment rides, Wu not being the origional lead geneticist, the albino rapter (made into the troodons in the game) and more. At the end of the game we DO see this lagoon faciilty where the origional head genetisist is held out. Not only do we learn she is responsible for the dinosaurs' cure of thier lysene dependency and the escape of the troodons but she had created a mosasaur for the lagoon. She took the main characters (us) as hostages to negotiate with the millitary to not bomb the island. She was an ex hippie who felt a very motherly role to the dinos and thus her suppresed eco terrorist came out in an attempt to prevent the termination of the artifical creatures. She was ironically killed by the mosasaur with the destruction of the underwater lagooon facitlity. This game both respects movie and book continuity pretty well but connonicity is dependent. Then you have the split timeline. Technically, Jurrasic World starts one timeline in the movies. The book differs from the movie a lot more than the first do so you could consider the first movie and book to be afaptions of the same cannon that splits at the sequals or two seperate timelines themselves. Then you add the Jurrasic World timeline which further splits off after the firet book. All if these are large enough to be considered likley as potential alternate cannons. THEN you have the supporting media. The novelizations are mostly stuck close to the movies. The comics typically do as well but depending on the run, go many alternate directions. The first main commic line that acted as a continuation for the first movie contradicts most other movies, adding another potentail comic cannon timeline. Im fairly certian these covered the lagoon/and or aquatic attractions of the origional park. You ALSO have the card series and toys which took artistic liberties with the story. They tended to mix detials of the book with the first movie. These too featured yhe aquatic attractions of JP to some degree but are much less likly to be considered cannon as they were mostly made up to sell the products woth less reguard tk the overal established story. We even got a Nedry fogure that look3d nothing like how he was described in any other media and was a living dino hunter so the toys/non-movie cards are mych less relaible.

the back lagoon is for growing things and testing them before moving those accepted animals into the main entertainment lagoon area south by airlift or otherwise straight into the water. why would there be a ride in the restricted section?

My guess for the technology it would been pretty hard to show it in the movie. I don't think the lagoon would be just shallow water or similar to lock Ness but a creature feature where you can travel from above water thru a water tunnel under and thru rock to see specific under water caves that would house said creatures. They wouldn't need electric fences but hollowed out areas under ground and use the rock itself as a cage. The tunnel system for cruise would have windows that view into these under water sections. Creature... oh boy. That would be tough.. how do you get mosquitos with blood of deep underwater creatures. My guess this would have been hybrid area. Not mixing too dinos but a dino mix with alot of current animal dna to make a new creature. Like a crocodile that's more serpentine and uses venom to bite than drag the prey under.

I’ll be playing Jurassic Park Survival, and I’d really really want to get to that lagoon, and I’d love to see an absolutely gigantic shark fin go by in the close distance

I think in various sources they mentioned the island has geothermal power due to all the volcanic activity
