That was Vic Olden and me screaming go Jay at Mt Buninyong, loved it! And ‘learn’t his talking skills’ well coached Chris M and Luke M! Great race insights, thanks for sharing. #getwreckedjay

Thanks Chris and Jay. I followed the Vuelta religiously and always clicked onto Chris Horner or Lantern Rouge’s commentary after each stage; however, I found your insightful questions and Jay’s open and honest answers gave me an entirely new perspective on professional cycling at the highest level. Keep it up Chris, outstanding effort. 👍🏼👍🏼

Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. I think a lot of my questions stemmed from finding it very confusing and almost insulting the way some media outlets seemed to want to pigeonhole him. I loved the fact J talked about on the road everyone is equal and all the riders just don’t care and get on with it. Sometimes I wish the media would see that. Thanks again for the comment

Great interview! I couldn't shake the feeling that it looked like Angel Chris sitting on Jay's shoulder and I was waiting the whole video for Devil Chris to appear on Jay's other shoulder!

Awesome insight and interview. Still hard to comprehend that a guy who used to whizz by me on my office commutes in Canberra is taking part in a grand tour.

Hi David, it is such a cool story and I think the fact we all have shared a little bit of it makes it that much better. Hopefully will be cheering him on for many years to come

Great interview Chris, so good to see Jay doing so well in the big game, bit surprised you didn’t go there with the stage podium got be an awesome thing to have ridden with the guy that crashed on a stage and fought back to finish on the podium

Great down-to-earth chat, really felt like I was being carried along and nice to know a bit more in-depth about the meal and living accommodations, how a team goes about fuelling their riders etc. It's great to hear a rider be quite open when asked instead of shrouding it all in this mysterious pro fog that makes the pro level seem so inaccessible/unachievable as an aspiring amateur.

Great interview Chris, Jay is tough as, the way he regrouped and got back into the lead group after that spill. Looking forward to seeing how he progresses with this GT experience behind him now. Thanks for sharing!

Definitely one of the few things I've watched lately where I have been glued to the screen the entire time. Chris, you were more serious and intense than I think I can remember. Great interview, thanks Chris and Jay! Good luck with the Nero talent quest.
@ChrisMillerCycling3 жыл бұрын
HAHA! Thanks mate, really enjoyed doing it. The “seriousness” was more me trying to shut my mouth and let Jay talk. Nothing bugs me more in cycling podcasts where the interviewer yaps on and on and we never get to hear anything from the actual person being interviewed. Glad you enjoyed it mate.

Took your advice and watched this interview whilst on the trainer. Suffice to say I can only dream of an FTP near his 430 watts 😉 Really enjoyed the interview and hearing what it takes to ride in the peloton and survive a GT. It’s an amazing story, watching do well for Nero, winning the Zwift Academy and then performing so well on the WT, even flying under the radar of many fellow competitors. I reckon some of them will think twice before letting him join the breakaway in the future. Looking forward to watching Jay’s progression and wish him all the very best during this incredible journey.

Well done Chris and Jay, I love the insight into how the team works behind the scenes. Love how you didn’t sugarcoat it and told it raw really gives a great appreciation for how much talent you have to compete at the top level. Enjoy your week off Jay.

This was a seriously good watch, I wasn't sure I'd get through 30 mins and it was over before I knew it. Jay is a massive inspiration for me, as I am sure he is for many others. Cracking video Chris, you might be making another one of these in 12 months time...a few Nero lads are looking the goods for Zwift Academy this year!

Awesome vid Chris. Keen to know what Jay was like whilst on your team/NRS? Was he a standout from the start, or constant progression, or just made a big leap all of a sudden? Always interesting to chart different riders rise up the ranks. Cheers
@ChrisMillerCycling3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad, best way to answer that is take a look at the videos from about 2 years back starting with New Zealand Cycle classic, his whole jorney from MTB hubbard to WT pro is there.

How are they providing proteins, vitamins and micronutrients though if they are allowed to eat only rice, pasta, bread and eggs? Eggs are a good source of protein and some micronutrients, but they are also highly allergic, so can't be consumed in excess day by day. Food supplements? Vegetable juice?
