Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee provides an informative location for paleontologist Kurt Wise to discuss what the world was like after the Flood, from giant volcanoes, to animal dispersion, to the Ice Age. In closing, Dr. Wise and Del Takett address why some believers doubt or refuse to accept the Genesis account of Origins.
Dr. Wise earned his BA in geology from the University of Chicago, and his MA and PhD degrees in paleontology from Harvard University. He founded and directed the Center for Origins Research at Bryan College and taught biology there for 17 years. He then led the Center for Theology and Science at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for 3 years, before founding and directing the Center for Creation Research and teaching biology at Truett McConnell University for the last 7 years.
His fieldwork has included research in early Flood rocks in the Death Valley region, late Flood rocks in Wyoming, and post-Flood caves in Tennessee.

I would actually like to hear him give a date for this flood. He interprets all the data as pointing to a great flood, but doesn't the data also give us an idea as to when it all happened? When did this flood occur?

Will Mo, you wrote, "I would actually like to hear him give a date for this flood. He interprets all the data as pointing to a great flood, but doesn't the data also give us an idea as to when it all happened? When did this flood occur?" It depends on the translation. The Masoretic Hebrew text gives a flood date of about 4,000 years ago. The Greek translation of an older Hebrew text gives a date of a little over 5,000 years ago, as interpreted by Demetrius: _"Demetrius the chronographer (ca. 220BC) Demetrius was a Hellenistic Jewish historian who wrote in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy IV (221-205 BC). He is 'the earliest datable Alexandrian-Jewish author we know' (Finegan 1998, 141). Demetrius' works are preserved in Eusebius' Praeparatio Evangelica and Clement of Alexandria's Stromata. He wrote in Greek (Hanson 1983, 183, n. 6) and is the earliest known witness to the Septuagint. In Demetrius' chronological system, Creation is dated at 5307 BC and the Flood at 3043 BC (Finegan 1998, 145)."_ _"In Fragment __2:18__, Demetrius writes, '[F]rom Adam until Joseph's brothers came into Egypt, there were 3624 years; and from the Deluge until Jacob's coming into Egypt, 1360 years' (Eusebius, Praeparatio Evangelica, 9.21.18). These figures yield a period of 2264 years from Adam to the Flood (3624-1360). Demetrius is obviously using the LXX's longer chronology. For his antediluvian chronology to add up to 2264/2 years, the begetting age for Methuselah must be 187. Thus, Demetrius is the earliest known witness to an LXX manuscript that contained the 187 reading for Genesis 5:25, remarkably close in time to the original Greek translation of the Pentateuch (ca. 281 BC)."_ [Henry B. Smith Jr., "Methuselah’s Begetting Age in Genesis 5:25 and the Primeval Chronology of the Septuagint." Answers in Genesis, 2017] Dan

I am blessed to live in Dayton, TN , just 30 miles from Fall Creek Falls, a beautiful drive west over Dayton Mountain. Dr. Wise is fondly remembered and much loved here from his teaching days at Bryan College in Dayton. It is such a joy to sit at the feet of learned men who know what they are talking about and are not ashamed but excited about the Word of God. My seminary experience was like that, too. Thank you for this series with Dr. Wise.

In Dec. 1959 a Christian minister (pastor/missionary/evangelist/writer) got into the Pentagon & through 3 levels of security & met with a benevolent humanlike e.t. being & this was the beginning of nearly 50 years of contact he had. with him & others & a book was written on this incident. Stranger At The Pentagon 1967, 72, 91, 2019, by Dr. Frank E. Stranges (1927-2008). Dr. Stranges studied the bible & theology, psychology, forensics & was a private investigator on the side. He was also a Christian ufologist & months before this incident, he wrote a book, titled Flying Saucerama in 1959!!

These two prophets will have power to burn with fire, anyone that will try to harm them. It is also written that they will cause plagues; turning water into blood and stopping the rain from falling and torment the earth with other plagues as well.. And at the end of their prophesy. The first beast will war and against them and kill. But in this battle First beast will get his deadly wound because remember that gave God them power to burn with fire any one who try to harm. But unfortunately the first beast will manage to kill them and after three and half day they will be resurrected and ascend to heaven on a cloud. And the First beast will get dominance and he will reign for three and half years and persecuting Christians before Christian will not Worship him.. So whoever kill these two prophets will be the first beast of revelation 13.. When these men of God comes they might deceive us that they are UFO or aliens.

Hans De Mos, you wrote, "@Christus Mea Lux Is your racism part of your religious delusions or is it a personal addition?" Just what the world needs: another bigot playing the race card. Are you aware that racism "exploded" after Charlie Darwin released his silly books? The late Stephen Jay Gould (Kurt Wise's PhD advisor at Harvard) explains: _"Biological arguments for racism may have been common before 1859, but they increased by orders of magnitude following the acceptance of evolutionary theory. The litany is familiar: cold, dispassionate, objective, modern science shows us that races can be ranked on a scale of superiority. If this offends Christian morality or a sentimental belief in human unity, so be it; science must be free to proclaim unpleasant truths. But the data were worthless. We never have had, and still do not have, any unambiguous data on the innate mental capacities of different human groups-a meaningless notion anyway since environments cannot be standardized." I love this channel! I love listening to proving Gods creation is TRUTH. I mentioned this on one of the other videos I watched and I'd like to mention this again because this is what the Holy Spirit enlightened me with. God our creator doesn't have a birthday date nor a death date. God has always been. And not one man on this earth will ever be able to carbon date God because he is FOREVER. Therefore when God SPOKE creation into existence, creation came out of God; the heavens, the earth, the stars, the planets, etc... But when man want to carbon date rocks the time charts are all over the place. This is how I explained it to my 13 year old grandson. You are 13 years old. You spit today in your hands. But you created that spit TODAY but your spit is really age 13 because it came from you. How old is that spit? It's 13 years old plus it's also 1 day old because you created it TODAY. This is how God is. I believe His WORD when it says God created everything in six days and on the seventh day He rested. Do I believe God needs a rest day? No not really, but His WORD was written this way because God knows the beginning to the end and He set it up for mankind. Because there are 6,000 years of sin and 1,000 years of peace with our King Jesus. Just one more thing to add. People do not know how to touch God. Everything they do has to be through the flesh. God is Spirit and we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth and neither one of these; "Spirit", "Truth", can a human touch or feel. Because God lived in the Spirit world. But Praise God, through His son Jesus Christ, God gave us a way to touch him in His Spirit, and that also includes the Holy Spirit which is a beautiful Gift given to us if we obey and give our lives to Him through Jesus Christ so that we can live eternal with Him in Spirit and a glorified body for all eternity. But it's a choice. You either choose to live eternally in heaven or you deny Jesus the Savior and live eternally in hell. Praise the Lord I've given him 51 years of my life. What a wonderful plan of salvation. Once again thank you for this channel. God bless you all to the fullest. Amen!

i am considering the very real possibility that time as we experience has changed since those ancient times. consider that time was, for example, very much of another quality than what we are currently living in. The nature of the earth and its biology may well have been quite different in its behaviors. the physical world has immensely changed. it was long ago.

The post flood era outcome would depend on what were the primary factors. If it was the loss of perpetual cloud cover and exposure to the sun, we have blue sky and rainbows. If it were geological upheaval, we have shape shifting continents. If it were a combination of the two we have submerged land bridges, new seas, the Mediterranean for example or new channels, the English channel for another. Add a few super volcanoes and island countries like Japan, New Zealand are available to populate. The loss of cloudcover would mean great volumes of condensation of surface water causing weather patterns, the extreme latitudes that got very little sunlight would become polarized when sea water and precipitation froze. The proportions of such an event or an era, if they could have been recorded, would have been recorded by various civilisations, by word of mouth or until a method of writing had been established. Enoch, 7th from Adam, was regarded as the first scribe, and cuneiform characters from other traditions, Gilgamesh narrative for another example. What seems lost in the biblical context, is the pragmatism that the early traditions conveyed, they get redefined when they become regarded as scriptures. Rather than a manual of survival, protocols of behaviour and penalties, the emphasis is on being righteous, which has obvious religious connotations. Over time righteousness evolves into faith, which is a conviction that one's beliefs are based on another's beliefs that were believed to be based on facts. A sort of Chinese whisper scenario.

@@logicalatheist1065 Fantastic question. But before we answer that question, we have to first answer the question of epistemological foundations. How do we know that *anything* is true? By what ultimate, absolute standard of truth can we judge *any* statement to be true or false? As Christians, the Bible forms our starting point; our bedrock foundation. It is the sole and ultimate standard of truth and authority in our lives. All other truth claims are judged according to whether or not they conform to the Bible's revelation. If they do not conform to the Bible, they are judged to be false. As Christians, we know that our knowledge is a gift. It is dependent on something outside of us; something that is fixed, immovable, absolute, objective, and yet knowable. If a person grounds their knowledge on any foundation other than God and his revelation, their knowledge is never sure, never certain, always changing, always subjective. In short, apart from a solid, objective foundation, you cannot know anything. The atheist might say to me, "How do you know the Bible is the Word of God?" And my answer would be, "Because it conforms to the Bible." Yes, this is circular reasoning, but so is *any* question of ultimate truth claims. I could just as easily ask the atheist, "How do you know that your senses and reasoning are valid?" And he would be forced to answer, "Because my senses and reasoning tell me that they are." The problem with the atheist position is that he is basing the validity of his own senses and reasoning on something that is fallible-his senses and reasoning. The Christian can produce other evidences of the Bible being the Word of God, both internal and external; including its cohesion, its self-consistency, its ability to accurately describe the heart of man, its ability to predict future events (which are in our past), its extreme reliability in transmission, and in describing historical events. I could go on and on. But all of these evidences are not the reason Christian believe the Bible, they simply reinforce the idea that the Bible is the Word of God. The ultimate proof that the Bible is God's Word is that without it, you cannot prove anything.

@Logical Atheist Because without the existence of God or the truth of the Bible, you cannot know anything. Yet you *do* know things. The very fact that you have real knowledge (but cannot justify it) is proof that God exists and that the Bible is true. The scripture says that all people know God; but because of their sinfulness, they refuse to acknowledge him as God, or give thanks for his many gifts (including knowledge and reason). As a result, their minds are darkened and their thinking becomes futile. They try to reason, but they have no foundation for reason. They try to gain knowledge, but they have no foundation for knowledge. They try to make truth claims (as you have done), but they cannot give any justification for it. The answer is to repent of your rebellion against God, who is the foundation for all truth and knowledge and reason. Beg his forgiveness. Trust in Christ, who paid the eternal penalty for sin, and offers forgiveness and life. Only then will your mind be able to reason effectively. Repentance leads to a knowledge of the truth, not the other way around.

Many beliefs throughout the World have a story of a great flood. Many also have man coming out of a hole in the ground. I am intrigued with the evolution of religions. Science not religion continues to map cause and effect, leading to technological breakthroughs. Imagine believing that the sun circles the Earth as all celestial bodies do and the garden of Eden is at the center of it. What would you think about lightning and thunder? I think it's a possible red flag to cling to stories/beliefs of miracles or even many literal interpretations that are written. Does it matter whether there ever was a "little boy who cried wolf" to understand the message? Instead of focusing on the past and the future to get a fix on "now", one can just focus on "now"...meditation. Just as breaking addictions involves many battles like wanting to smoke after a meal or before bed, with each success the next struggle will be easier. Turns out I, and I think most others have a problem with thoughts. Some lead to negativity and most to blindness. The kind of blindness that "sees" me making the same mistakes without understanding. Which is better, understanding or not making mistakes? A system may be followed to avoid mistakes but it's about following, not about understanding. If I can sit with eyes closed and be aware of my breathing, daydreams will come. If I can watch them without judgement or giving in to the dreams then...a miracle! I am not moved by the thoughts but I see them while free of them! Each time I succeed at this test that is tailor fit to me and "my" thoughts, I get a gift of spiritual energy that feels so good and helps me with the next thought/test that comes through my head trying to lure me into a day dream or remembering something I forgot and want to jump up and go do...but I don't. The deeper I go the more is revealed to me about myself, others and the World. The clearing up of confusions that led the right energy down the wrong path in a search for what I thought I wanted based on who I thought I was. Now I kinda know that I'm not who I think I am...which use to sound scary to me but now feels like liberation from pain and blindness. I wish you all understanding in your walk in life.

Most of us who believe in the global catastrophic event of Noah's Flood, do not understand the consequences of the physics so much water would have created. Noah's ark would have to have been protected not just from the water, but also from the intense heat. Gen 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. We have always thought of the pitching of the ark as a form of waterproofing, but it was much more than that, it was also a carbon heatshield. Global rainfall, combined with the outpouring of the majority of subterranean reservoirs and the movement of these waters over the earth's surface, would have produced so much friction as to bring the waters to extremely high temperatures. If the subterranean reservoirs of water were pushed out due to the superheating of the earth's core, as is most likely, much of that water would have been released as steam (60% of Mount St. Helen's explosive plume was water vapor, ie: steam). I believe it is most likely that The L-rd, when initiating the flood, also initiated an atmospheric cooling to offset the enormous heat being produced, from within the earth and by the friction produced by the movement of such vast amount of water. As the waters subsided, much of those waters trapped on land, distant from the equator, would have begun to freeze. There is a lot of evidence pointing to a massive glacier covering a huge swath of North America. Once this had melted, as the earth slowly warmed back to its pre-flood temperature, a massive inland sea was formed. The rapid draining of this sea would have formed scars on the earth such as the Grand Canyon.

Jesus is also known as the Living Word. As a result when Satan attempted to tempt Him he was actually attempting to beguile Him by using His own truth to flatter Him. The gross error was that real truth cannot be flattered, but only incited to provide the correct application of itself based on the circumstances being addressed. In other words, you can't tell God what He meant or how it might be best applied to gain Him glory. Even the wisest of His creation might best limit his interaction to "Praise God", along with a sincere, " thank you Lord"..

In order to cover the highest mountains you would require more water than there is in the world's oceans. Where did the water recede to? Also, if the meat eating creatures on the ark suppressed their natural urge for food while on the ark, once they disembarked, if they just ate one of the two 'kinds', then that kind would go extinct because it didn't have a mate. Makes perfect sense...

1) If the earth's surface were smooth, the planet right now would be covered in a global ocean approximately 1.7 miles deep. The reason the earth is not currently flooded in because we have very tall mountains and very deep ocean basins, both of which formed during and after the Flood. 2) You are assuming that the animals exiting the Ark was the only food source for hungry carnivores. After the Flood, carrion would have been a ready source of food for the carnivores, as would fish and other marine animals trapped in pools of water left behind by the receding floodwaters. In addition, insects likely survived off the Ark, having survived on mats of floating vegetation or even on the hull of the Ark. Please see the following resources for more information on either of these two topics: creation.com/post-flood-race-for-survival creation.com/noahs-flood-questions-and-answers

They stayed in the Ark eating the provisions of the Ark for several months while the flood drained before getting out in the springtime of the year when plants were well along. The higher elevations had even more time for plants to grow- months longer since their drainage. In fact they landed on such a mountain. Read Genesis chapter 8.

General question, not specific to this video: The earth's moon and other planets all show evidence of severe meteor impacts. The earth has relatively very few craters. Was the forming of the craters of the moon and planets a post creation event? If so, at what point in our timeline did these impacts occur? Did the earth get an equal share of these impacts?

From my understanding the creation theories regarding the moons, planets and stars are a lot less developed, in part simply because we have significantly less data from telescopes and probes compared to field research on earth. However, I'll do my best to explain one hypothesis by Dr. Danny Faulkner, who is featured in a couple of videos on this channel. It is proposed that on day 4 of creation the celestial objects were "formed" rather than "made" based on the Hebrew words used (asah vs. bara). That is, God supernaturally formed them from existing matter, perhaps by accelerating natural processes. This is somewhat paralleled with the rapid growth/maturation of plants on day 3 and creatures on days 5 and 6. Conventional scientists assign the majority of craters on the moon to two main cratering events: the Early Heavy Bombardment (EHB ~>4.1Gya) and the Late Heavy Bombardment (LHB ~4.1-3.8Gya). The cratering of the lunar highlands (light areas) happened during the EHB, and the maria/seas (dark areas) were caused by lava flows resulting from a few massive craters during the LHB. Faulkner suggests that the EHB and most other cratering around the solar system was a result of the day 4 forming of the celestial objects. Since this was supernaturally directed the Earth was unaffected. Conversely, the LHB happened during the global flood and indeed may have been the trigger for the continental plate destabilization and breakup. The observation that most of the LBH was on one side of the moon suggests that it was a rapid event, as statistically with the Earth and Moon orbits the dark "seas" should have been spread equally over the surface if the LHB took 300 million years. Note of course that these are hypothesis and are subject to change as more data comes to light. Honestly one of the reason's I'm excited about people returning to the moon is that we may gain more insight into its history and how that will correlate with the creation model. For more information about creation science in general I recommend visiting AnswersinGenesis.org, and most of the above information I got from the following article: answersingenesis.org/astronomy/solar-system/interpreting-craters-in-terms-of-the-day-four-cratering-hypothesis/ Hope that helped! God Bless
