I too, love viviva portfolios! The colored pages are for adding doodles with the black pen kind of like reverse coloring or zentangle. I didn't know that either and a viewer tipped me off. Have fun with the new goodies!

I'm going to break my no-buy and get that little palette of Da Vinci paints from your website, in the New Year. I've been wanting them, and can't get any Da Vinci paints in Australia, that I can find. And, BTW, those sensory sticks might work as an insect repellent in your clothing drawers/cupboard. I have a whole pack of them in the place where I store my vacuum cleaner - it keeps away the musty odour. Just a thought. 🤶

I am breaking my no buy all the time. This month, I got a hefty yearly bonus, and I could not stop myself, I got some engineering books, one art book and I got only 2 of 6 pans coliro sets of mica watercolors. I know how it is to have too many things. I feel so guilty, but I keep buying. I do paint often but I can't even put a dent in some of the supplies since I pull watercolors out most of the time. But still I feel constant need for experimentation with materials and also convenience, so I have about 2 dozen of sketchbooks for all kinds of mediums.

Hullo Miranda, you should be able to buy any art supply that you feel that you want! I know that you are being transparent with your subscribers, I am glad that you were able to find a deal on these amazing products! I have used the color sheets from Peerless and they are the same dye based paint as the Viviva. I know that they are mostly for sketchbooks, but I have an artwork that has lasted 40+ years with little fading! It was stabilized with Dorlands wax matted and put behind museum glass! If you take precautions to preserve your art it can stand the test of time! I have used some “sketchy” surfaces over the years and I believe that you can apply different coatings to those pages in your new book that will accept everything from pencils to oil paints! Liz Chaderton has recipes for grounds. Her pastel and watercolor ground recipes are great! Lower cost too! I have applied gesso to several different surfaces to get a very good result that will accept pencils even charcoal! The key is light layers of gesso sanding between every layer after it dries completely! I wish you the best of luck with the new smaller book and I hope to see some videos on how you use these “unlawful” supplies! Please take care and have a lovely holiday!

You lasted a long time on your no-buy, so don't feel guilty. I don't do a lot of things outside of the house (restaurants, movies, shopping sprees, are too expensive), so if I want to buy something occasionally, I do it. Speaking of which, I got your watercolor book in the mail yesterday and it's very cute. I can't wait to get painting in it! 🥰

Those were ALL valid reasons to go off any sort of no buy. I have the smaller sketch book and ended up with 2 because the first one had a dent on it from shipping so I was allowed to keep it and was sent another one. Very lucky. I'm loving it, but acrylic works the best in it. And collage....just making messes is so fun.

Gosh, I hope you actually enjoy the Dina Wakely books in practice! In the big book, if you are intimidated by the size of the pages, you could divide the pages into smaller portions, a la Lindsay Weirich!

I can hardly stand passing up on a good deal! I do, often, but I’m a deal seeker and have a whole Amazon wishlist to check frequently for a good sale! And I do the same! I go through the start of the check out process to look for hidden fees all.the.time 😂

I'm not sure how one would go about doing a PERMANENT NO BUY. That's a pretty harsh sentence you're giving yourself. And then whenever you do "slip" to buy something, you'll put yourself through a big guilt trip. Most of us could get by with a very small portion but of what we have now. But there's always gonna be something new or something you don't have that you will want to buy. This is certainly your personal decision, but I would donate or sell a large chunk of the color media supplies that you know you're not so crazy about or that you will simply never use. When the burden of having SO MUCH already is lifted, then maybe you can buy "some" things again, but with more discretion and focus I'm trying to avoid buying large sets of colors because inevitably I will only use part of the set and the other colors sit there. I am planning to go through and destash a bunch of supplies that I just don't use and they just sit. Good luck with however you decide to manage your stash!
