Thanks again, Nick, for the makeover! I love my home, and it feels so much cozier and calmer (without all the items *cough cough clutter* everywhere). Thank you to all the lovely subscribers in the comment section who have kind words to say about this project and my debut on the channel. Like Nick said, this project has been months in the making, but it was so fun to see Nick in action designing and styling my space. To answer a few questions I saw in the comments: 1) All the products were gifted (except some decor and small items), so, no, I did not have to pay for them 🥰. I'm incredibly thankful to all the brands and Nick for this. 2) I'm a dual citizen but living in Vancouver. American-Canadian proud! ❤ 3) While I love traditional, feminine, and floral-y spaces more than Nick, at the moment, I have more of a retro-eclectic taste combining elements from lots of design styles. I was also considerate of my partner's taste and the setting of our home when Nick and I picked out the furniture. 4) Yes, I know the art says Wagyu 😅 A friend told us, but luckily I love Wagyu beef!

Thanks for showing us your home. I love to see interieur design in small spaces. Your home looks georgous. In Germany it is normal to have a flat like yours and it is hard to find content about smaller spaces. @Nick it would be great to see more videos like this. You've done an amazing job here. The only point I as a book lover don't get is why to put things on books? I've seen this often lately and I wonder where and why this trend started? If I love a book I want to be able to open and read it or see the cover. With e. g. a plant on top it could be damaged. It can't be used. It is reduced to a kind of tray I guess? 🤔 Nice greetings from Germany.

I agree. In a renters home you just can't paint or you have to repaint when you move. Paint and stick on wallpaper of decent quality is expensive. It always feels like a cop out for design video. Ofcourse that looks completely different. But what happens when that peel and stick comes lose after a year or you remove it and it takes of part of the paint and plaster? I really liked this video because it's something everyone can take inspiration from.

You would think this isn't very high budget since there was no renovations, but those furniture pieces are quite pricey. My guess is around $5000-8000. It's because they're nice pieces that it was able to elevate the room. Not sure how many people can afford so many brand new pieces. This is where scouring facebook marketplace and a lot of luck comes in clutch.

This is such a wonderful take on a rental unit. That's so beautiful. It's amazing how making a space more cohesive in its colour scheme and choosing the right furniture can make it feel more... grown-up, and less like student digs. The colours are really gorgeous, very calming and restful with the greens and browns - it's so much more personal now. And it doesn't look as if it's an easy space to work in to get that feeling, so well done! It's worth starting a Pinterest board to pin things that you like, and then going through to see the overall similarities - and places like eBay and Facebook Marketplace can offer some great finds, if you look. Or thrift stores - at least here in the UK, there are charity shops that do furniture, so that kind of place is another place to look. You'll find the right thing, with a bit of patience - and if you find something secondhand, you'll know that it's unique and not the same thing that everyone else has. Good luck!
@Terri_MacKay2 күн бұрын
My problem is the layout of the living room in my apartment. The placement of the walls and windows kind of dictates where furniture has to go. The best place for my TV is a small wall that's only a few inches wider than the TV itself, and I'm having a really hard time finding something that size for that spot. Even small media consoles are wider than that wall, so I've been scouring Marketplace and local thrift stores for something that I can put the TV on, and that will give me some closed storage underneath. (I have cats, so open shelves don't work, they just claim them as sleeping spots.) It turns out that we're not alone. From talking to other people, it seems like the perfect media console or TV stand is one of the hardest pieces of furniture for people to find.
@Martyntd52 күн бұрын
@@Terri_MacKay Wall mount the TV and have storage elsewhere. It's better than forcing an over-sized TV onto an under size-unit in order to force it into a confined space, which is always going to look bad. You dont have to have a media unit under the TV ...and at least you can mount the TV at the correct viewing height. If visible cables are a concern, then consider panelling that wall with acoustic slats. Could solve your problem and look cool as hell into the bargain.
@Martyntd52 күн бұрын
@@Terri_MacKay ...and getting harder as TV's get bigger. Currently the largest TV you can get is 120 inches. If you stick to the 2/3 rule, then your console would need to be 12 and a half feet wide and if you want the centre at the correct 43 inches off the ground, then your unit would need to be no more than 12 inches high. Clearly we are going to need different solutions.
@Terri_MacKay2 күн бұрын
@Martyntd5 I never thought of acoustic slats. That would look cool, it would make a nice accent wall. And, yes, cords are a concern, not only because they're ugly, but I don't want exposed cords that a cat can play with or bite into. The wall isn't very wide, so a couple of slat panels wouldn't cost any more than a good quality media console. I'm liking it more the more I think about it. Thanks for the suggestion!! 😊

Love This! Appreciate the great ideas and the process of getting to the result you want. My husband and I moved from a 5 BR 4 bath house to a 1 bedroom condo 2 years ago. We haven't spent enough energy figuring out what actually is appropriate for our space. You changed the couch and added a chair to make it work. Our previous house furniture does not really fit in here and this show encourages me to let go of it and start fresh and embrace our condo and try to make it fit our lives for now instead of clinging to the past. I want to make this condo a space to live in, instead of a storage unit for furniture. For example, I have 6 stuffed high back dining chairs and table in a space where people on one side have to get seated before the others can seat themselves. Ugh. sorry too long response, but this triggered me to think about how we are living in this space. Thank you. Ann

Even with the restrictions of a rental a place can be so pretty. Love the warm wood tones. I bought a blonde burl hornbeam table from France and its single slab. I was thinking to put black-finished wood chairs with it as a contrast. My style is minimalist but maybe I’ll have some chair cushions with patterns if someone wants a cushion on their wood chair…..Anyway, Nick you are right on as usual and love the work you put out.

Beautiful make over, it looks so cozy and chic at the same time. This was a huge upgrade. Love the sofa, tv console and hall storage. The quieter rug was also a good choice.

So much warmer and more substantial. I love the drapes! Before it was a bit college dorm, although cute. Great job!

I loved this!! I liked it at the start but I love it even more now!!! Great use of a multi-use, hardworking space. A whole bunch of us will relate to this and can use these ideas.

Oh my goodness, Eden is delightful - and I love Yavi's creative renderings. ✨ I'm sad the rug is gone - I was hoping you'd hang it on the big blank entry wall 😄 The end result is Cozy Sophisticated - I love it!! More more more please!!

Nick, I've been watching you for years from Ontario and you inspired me to leave my career as a registered nurse to become a home stager. It has now been three years and I have taken the plunge and run a successful staging business. I really enjoy seeing you do this kind of video and seeing your tips and tricks come to life! Eden's space looks absolutely beautiful! Keep up the great work!

I love this. My apartment is closer to Eden's "before" and I just assumed you really couldn't do much with a small rented space but the "after" proved me wrong.

This was great! I really enjoyed watching you use your guidance to improve someone’s home. Especially since it is a rental, which holds so many people back from improving their space.

Absolutely gorgeous! It’s hard to believe how much better it is - that’s why Nick is the designer and I just follow him. ❤

It looks larger, visually. Hiding the clutter made a huge impact. Very nicely done.

Honestly this was a lot of fun! Many people in your city and mine (Victoria) can't live in huge apartments and we need styling ideas for our small spaces, especially renter-friendly ones. Love the curtains and the pops of warm lighting.

Wow..I’m a visual learner, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a long time and when I started feeling dissatisfied with my living accommodation I tried using your concepts to change it..but this video really helped ! The apartment was lovely and seemed well put together, but then when the reveal was shown..what an amazing difference! To me, it went from: this is my apartment to this is my home.. I’d bet that it’s a place now to really relax..

The point you regularly make about lighting really comes through in this makeover!
