I went to the salon to get my nails done for my best friend's wedding. She wanted her bridesmaids to have matching nails. The tech tried to remove the old acrylic extension on my nail by prying it off with another tip. I told her not to, because it was painful. So to my relief she put acetone pads on my nails and wrapped them in tin foil. I assumed she would proceed to gently scrape the acrylic off. Nope. Before I could stop her she tried to pry one off with a tip AND RIPPED MY NAIL OFF. Like... My real nail... I should have left as soon as she tried the first time. It's so painful even a week later and I couldn't have a set for my best friend's wedding 😢😢😢. I learned my lesson to leave immediately if the tech ever does anything that makes me uncomfortable.

😱oh, the horror!! Did she have a supervisor? If so, I'd mention it. Plus, these days, a Google review mentioning exactly what happened that it's very wrong to do (as many customers won't know), and WHO did it. I'm sorry this happened to you!! 😢 I'd have asked the bride to use the person you normally go to well for next time! Me I gad no idea, my bridesmaids one was busy, one lived to far away, the other came with her nails pre done. Though it was part of our plans as the was (to be) maid of honor. I had only asked my girls to wear something pastel or neutral. She showed up.witj the brightest red I've ever seen. 🙄 I didn't bother to ask her to change them. Offered to pay for her to get a color refresh/ fill if she needed. Nope, she didn't even stay with me. My fiance took her grocery shopping (so she'd have stuff around our home for the week). I ended up with dremmeled (not ban electric nail file actually the rotary tool) off nail plates. They hurt so bad. So I feel ya!! 😢

Actually 1st mention it like you did. 2nd time say it loudly. Then talk to any management and walk out at least away from that tech!! Walk out of salon if no one offers a proper fix, service. Then tell others!!

I did mention it to the owner. She offered to give me a free set herself when it heals. And said the girl who did it cried for 2 days afterwards she was so upset. She was younger and obviously new. I don't have a regular nail tech right now, I just moved here and have been trying new salons to find one I like. The last tech over filed my nails, so to be fair that's probably why one came off (I did mention this to the tech, and asked that she be careful because of it, but she didn't speak English well, and apparently didn't understand.) If I had been paying attention I would have stopped her before she tried again, but I zoned out and didn't see her doing it.

This happened to a friend of mine, they kept removing her old sets by prying them off with a tip. I told her to stop letting them do that bc she was really damaging and thinning her natural nail. She didn’t listen, and the next time the salon did this, they ripped her natural nail to the point it was bleeding. But they didn’t stop there. They proceeded to glue a new tip to her bloody thumb and then laid acrylic over the entire thing. Needless to say she got a horrible infection (they didn’t bother to disinfect)! A week or so later, as the infection became worse, she lost the entire nail. I explained to her that what they did was in fact illegal. She got a lawyer and took them to court, obviously she won. Don’t let them ever pry ur extensions off!

My first ever nail expoerence was terrible. After my first set with her I fell in love but when it came time for a new set.. omg. She used nail tips to remove my acrylic nails, wedged the tip in-between my nail and the acrylic. Her powder to liquid ratio caused burning on my nail beds and she KNEW what to do to stop the burning which tells me she does it a lot. And finally when I confronted her about how I felt and realized she NEVER posted my nails she lifted the veil. She was rude, never responded, and posted another woman with the same set she did on my hands after she read my messages. Terrible experience so I decided to learn myself. .

Suzie, this reminds me so much of using alcohol inks, I remember you using some Tim Holtz alcohol inks & they give the same effect as gel colour working within ‘bloom’. Ive used them for years as an artist. I’ve been doing my own acrylic & gel nails for about 16-18yrs (I can’t remember exactly haha) but am doing a Professional course in October & within that I will be doing, acrylic (tips & sculpturing) gel, manicure & pedicure & then I can be let loose on the public muhahaha. I cannot begin to tell you how much over the years your channel has helped me perfect my art as an unofficial nail techy 🥰😘 The only reason I’m doing the course is so that I will have my accredited diploma & can get my insurance. I have been with you since the early days & even you (the all knowing Suzie 😂😂😂) has come on in leaps & bounds. You may not have realised it but all the time you’ve been teaching us & reached me over here in England, you’ve been constantly learning yourself too! 💕 Sorry for the long post, but I could genuinely talk to you all day especially the fact you doa better British accent than me hahaha. I loved you working today with Steve what a laugh I’ve had & I love the finished look, it’s alien ‘esk. Love ya chick, don’t ever change x Vick-Angel x

My tech asks me what kind of design I'd like before we begin. He doesn't speak much English, but he can recreate what I'd like (and I'm fairly simple. One or two colors and a soft almond.)

I would really, really appreciate it if you would do a video on this. Thank you, Suzie.

Hi, not Suzie obv, but yes you can use gel polish over acrylic. The prep will vary by brand but Suzie has kits on her site which I've purchased before. Personally, I'd apply the acrylic and shape, then base coat, color and top. Anything like her Bridge primer or dehydrator would come in during acrylic prep. I hope that helps. I've had luck reaching suzie through the email listed on her website.

My first nail experience wasn't a good one. I had no idea what I wanted and they did long acrylics. They were rough on me and squeezed my injured finger (tip had been chopped off in a door) 3 weeks later I bumped my thumbnail and the whole nail nearly came off. Now I have to wait weeks before I can do my own nails as only about 5 mm of my natural has stayed on. I dont think I will ever go back to a salon

Well… I’ve only gotten my nails done once, and I want to again but I cannot go to a “chop shop” ever again. Nails turned out pretty close to what I wanted, I was pretty happy with them but quickly found out I am very picky and notice tiny details. For example, the nail edges were rough around some parts, the nail tech filed the sides, specifically the part going into my nail (an integral part for nail strength!) and their were bumps on the finished nails, like a lot of air bubbles I think? Also I think she used bits and files that did not look clean. And left uncurled gel on my hands because “once it cures it’ll come off”. The wear was fine the first week but found lifting/discolouration in all nails in the second. I even got a greenie on my left ring finger! I was upset because of how much I payed for them. I went to a different shop that was much closer to get a removal so I could let the greenie grow out and that was where I got so much damage. To summarize the removal, bruised and over filed my natural nails(even the new growth), left gel polish on my nail in uneven bits I had to soak off myself. I am never one to leave reviews but I was so angry at how they treated me I left a loooong complaint (staying respectful ofc). They replied and tried to blame my previous salon for the damage lmao.

The acrylic won’t damage her nails but removing them impatiently might. You’ve got to soak in acetone. If you can cut them down and file them before or in between soaks that could help speed things up. Take your time and don’t pull them off!!

It’s the removal that can damage her nails. It’s ok - you have several options Seek and actual professional for removal Remove yourself by breaking the seal with a file and then soak in acetone till it falls off Of file it off be mindful not to file into natural nail
@morgenmachen2400
@morgenmachen2400 Ай бұрын
When Suzie says break the seal I just want to clarify that she means buff the top coat off which acts as a barrier for the acetone. Don't try and stick anything between the natural and artificial nail. I'm not going to tell you what you must now already know but for anyone reading: please do your research before trying gel/acrylic products. These are chemicals and nothing to play around with.

@GlitterMurder I’ll begin by saying that, yes, this is a stupidly long comment lol but it’s totally relative to yours and many others horrific experiences. I just want to make as many people as possible aware and how to respond if you’re found in such a situation. As a pro, I feel it’s my duty to pass on and instill confidence with a little pro knowledge/warning. Read or don’t read it but I do believe nearly every nail-adjacent…person(?😂)- amateur/pro/clients- will learn something from this novel-length comment😉 I’m typically a very calm and it takes a lot to get me really worked up BUT hearing about this kind of sh!t always has me seeing red. INFURIATING! There are other highly discouraged techniques I get irritated by but nothing can touch the outrage I feel with this one being used as a viable way to remove enhancement products. Besides the obvious pain and severe damage it inflicts to the natural nail, it often puts that persons next nail tech (if they can ever trust one again!)at a disadvantage due to the client being super hesitant to believe that the new tech will actually use proper techniques and not end up with totally butchered nails. My utmost goal in any nail enhancement/extension service is to so carefully protect the natural nails- the end goal being for them to be looking and feeling just as healthy as they were prior to the service. I take significant pride in keeping my clients nails healthy- of course they will be beautiful as well, but their condition is my utmost concern and priority! Anyway…a recommendation for you as well as anyone else at all who is desiring nail services If anything happens during the process that does not feel/seem right, I encourage you to respectfully ask questions. A nail “pro” using legitimate methods will happily explain without any defensiveness; if they do respond with irritation or anger, something probably isn’t right and I’d recommend you end the service immediately. Trust those instincts! So many places see customers as no more than a number: services are not individually customized for nail/skin type, and quality+nail health is not prioritized- in this case “Quantity over quality” reigns. Cutting corners and eliminating crucial steps in order to get them out quicker and onto the next dollar sign(oops, I meant onto the next customer 😉🤣)instead of heavy critique for it, there is high praise for those who work the quickest, proper technique be damned. I’m sorry this is so long, understand that making consumers aware of poor practices is the only way any of this will ever actually change and overall, it is just something I abhor and want to tell as many people as possible that they don’t have to sit through a torture session. They can/should leave right away to avoid further damage to the skin and nails. Last red flag: everyone needs to know that getting your nails done is NOT supposed to cause pain or hurt at any point in the process or afterward (not including accidental nipper cuts, etc)Certain extreme nail shapes or deeper c-curves may be a bit uncomfortable, possibly a little sore for a day or two,but shouldn’t be causing the kind of pain I’ve heard so many make mention of. It’s just absolutely 100%unacceptable. Trust your gut! You’re not being held there and have full discretion to ask questions and/or simply leave. Stand up for yourself- they may be lawfully recognized as a professional by the state, but that doesn’t mean they have any business getting anywhere near an unsuspecting victim’s nails🤣😉 be safe out there.
