When I was young, all but one of the flavorings we used were alcohol based, and so bitter! The one that wasn't, funny enough, was rum flavoring, and it was just water based, not bitter at all. Then in my early 20s I stumbled on a set of glycerine based fruit flavors. The pineapple tasted like pineapple, not bitterness! So excited to try this! Thank you. :)

I watch you tube Acre Homestead. Becky took a lot of her homegrown garlic (I bought a large jar of minced for my purposes) and pureed it in the food processor with avacado oil. She then scooped out little cookie scoops of this pureed mixture onto parchment, froze them, and then put in a freezer bag for freezer storage. Then, when she wants some garlic for a recipe, she just reaches in the freezer, grabs what she needs and, wa-la, ready made garlic!

I just want to tell you what a blessing you are to me. I only discovered you recently, and I wish I had a long time ago, but I feel like the Good Lord brought you into my life just when He knew I needed you. My best friend of over 30 years was from DeValls Bluff, Arkansas. We spent many happy times fishing on the White River there. He passed on a few years ago in November. When I hear Mr. Brown's stories and some of the funny things he says, it makes me think of my friend Carl Lee and smile, and I don't miss him so much. My other closest friend died this past November. She would have loved you too! She was a "Keeper of the Old Ways" herself. We used to get together to cook and laugh, and now I feel a bit like I'm doing that with you, Mrs. Lori. I think you might be "my sister from another mister"! Haha. We seem to like all of the same things! And both work at schools! My 85 year old mom likes to watch you with me, and it stirs up great memories for her as well. Thanks for everything. God Bless You!

I began making homemade vanilla several years ago and every 6 months I buy more vanilla beans and I add them to vodka alcohol and I label the bottles with the date. I don’t use more then a teaspoon in recipes and most of the time the alcohol is cooked off. I never cut into my vanilla beans though I just pop them in as is and then when I need some vanilla beans I can pull one out of my vanilla extract and use the seeds and then I pop the remaining bean back into the vanilla. It ensures every bit of vanilla is used. I had purchased the same case of pop open bottles for the same reason to give vanilla away to special people and I’ll tell you my vanilla is almost ten years old my oldest vanilla and it’s amazing vanilla and I only give this vanilla extract to very special people and people that will truly understand the value of it and will use it in their homemade baking. I enjoy having many jars of vanilla extract at different strengths. It’s a lot of fun to make it and to use it in my baking. I enjoy Mr. Brown’s talk at the end. I’ll check out the link for your preacher, thank you for sharing. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦

I’m going to try the glycerin style Vanilla extract…a good alternative to the alcohol based, which seems quite expensive now, but I understand that it’s the Vanilla pods that are so expensive…also, some people use rum instead of vodka and that rum flavor can come through in the baked goods. As for the store bought imitation vanilla, it sometimes has an odd smell to it…making the glycerin vanilla in the glass jars is a great idea 😀👍
