I absolutely love your comment about your kids and wanting to be anywhere except on your bike, at that race. I have experienced that many may times before and yet we find ourselves lining up the very next week, to do it all over again.

Thanks for the analysis. I DNF'd my masters race too, despite having decent fitness. We started with the Juniors and two other age groups below us so it was hella fast and relentless. Made a few small ( I thought) positioning mistakes and that was all it took. My take is there was no sitting in on this course due to the pace. You were either hanging on just below threshold the whole time or getting dropped. So the tiniest extra effort combined with the 5% aerobic loss from altitude, was enough to pop a bunch of otherwise good riders. More DNF's in every than usual given the field sizes and distances. Rest up, that's what I'm doing!

Basically the exact opposite strategy I employed for the race. I basically just stared at my power meter for 8:30 hours averaging 304 watts at 139 lbs.

Drew, I love your commentary and race reviews. Sorry 😢 you didn't finish, but there's always next time. I know the feeling, DNF, not fun. You have to know your limits, and it seems you know. Can't wait for the Bonk Bros analysis, big fan. You and Scott are the best out of the bunch. Can't wait for the fireworks 😂

Hey man just wanted to say love the podcast, which you are obviously the one behind, and the race videos. Also f that dude that made the weird joel osteen comment, he's just a jealous hater and that was just a strange thing for Dylan to read while you're doing the pod like rewarding some ahole because he thinks I'm smart... But your real doppelganger is Trevor Plouffe the former mlb player who's on Talkin Baseball on youtube, you guys could be twins for real and have the same kind of vibe... Thanks for the entertainment man!

Drew… racing always has its unknowns, I do believe climate plays a big role in how we explore body limits. Been completely rested and climatic prepared for an event is becoming increasingly common at Elite level. You do know that intense move you and Chase did shaped the race. There should be several riders DM’ing you with a big thank you!😜. The funny thing that both you and DJ didn’t have a showdown is a missed opportunity. Why don’t we up the stakes and both of you go do the Traka? Come on… you both need some Spanish dust in your lungs!🤓.

@rlm44713 ай бұрын
You need to learn to distinguish between lame excuses and possible explanations. If you consistently suck and you're always trying to justify it, that's weak and lame. If you have an unusually bad day (which everyone does), it's reasonable to look for possible explanations.

Quitters never win; winners never quit.
@kroman43 ай бұрын
Tell that to the world tour guys that quit races regularly if they aren't feeling good so that they can win future races.
@rlm44713 ай бұрын
The idea that you should never give up and never quit is one of the dumbest things we teach people. Sometimes, quitting or giving up is definitely the smartest thing to do. If you think you're overtrained or sick and you have more events coming up, the worst thing you can do is keep racing. All you're doing is digging a deeper hole that will take longer to climb out of.
