I know nothing about the lore but here is what i thought. Making Jinx the symbol of resistance wasn't fleshed out at all but probably still the best part of the season. Isha and Jinx's relationship was rushed and came out of nowhere. Isha's sacrifice, while emotional, made no sense and was kind of pointless in the end. Letting the beast wreak havoc would've helped them more. Caitlyn's motivation and goals change drasticly on a whim. It was also hard to tell if Jayce was even the good guy in this season. He just swings/fires his hammer at everything he sees out of fear and seems to make things worse at times. Were Viktor's ex-junkies happy? Did they have individual consciousness? How much of it was Viktors influence on their minds. He tried to help Vander but i didn't know how to feel about his little paradise, morally speaking. (at least he gave you a choice back then) I liked it more when the use of magic was a metaphor for how innovation can be weaponized in our world. Something that happend all too often. Now it just turned into multiverse, time travel, followed by a weird hive mind thing. Peace through lack of individualism... really??! Last but not least, the finale. Talk-no-jutsu followed by, villain who caused it wants to make it right, cliche. The time travel Viktor-magician reveal was both predictable and kind of nonsensical. Then again, i guess you get away with anything as long as you bring multiverse into a story. Waaaay overused nowadays.

Isha felt more like a plot device than a character, so I couldn’t get invested in her and couldn’t feel emotional when she died. Especially when they don’t even really reflect on her at all after she dies (Jinx only thinks about and references Silco, not Isha).

As a LoL player the most disappointed thing in whole Arcane was Warwick. Imagine starting his character development in 2017 when his rework established his connection to Vi and Jinx, show him as human and father figure to them in 2021 when season 1 was released, then kill him and start generating hype about him turning into werewolf we have in game, give his incomplete transformation and reconcile all three (Vander, Vi and Jinx) for a moment in 2024 in season 2 and end it with killing him again, turning him into something that looks nothing like in the game and basically whole different character and kill him again at the end. There is not even a single scene where he looks like in the game.

The funniest shit to me is Ambessa. If you don't play league and know nothing about it Ambessa was released as a playable character in game to promote Arcane. Not only that but they did everything to hype her up. She received: - An animated music video - A legendary skin on release (which is one of the cooler tiers of skins in-game) - They announced a book about her, which is going to be released next year All this hype for a character just to kill her a few weeks later

Ambessa is Arcane character in the first place, the decision to bring her to the game came much later so at least her fate is justified. What they did with some LoL characters is funny shit. I strongly agree, act 3 really feels out of place. While i pretty enjoyed episode 7 and is to me one of the best of the season, the two next episodes where kind of rushed. All that mess with jayce and viktor was kind of unnecessary and i would rather get something more centered around singed being the main villain with ambessa like the way it was going at the end of act two. Ambessa suddenly being an ally of viktor and helping him possess the entire humanity is just bullshit and doesnt help her own business. And I dont talk about Vi and Cait jail scene which was really weird because jinx just told Vi that she was going to end her own life. The things I'd love to see in s 2: - more of Sevika. I feel like the writers had something planned for her but changed their minds. After saving isha she either disappeared for a long time or was just there as a background character. Where's another fight with such a fancy arm? - Sevika's and vi's interaction, at least about how they resolve their issue and decide to not be enemies anymore - Jinx talking to isha's image for the last time like with silco. She doesn't mention the girl after her death. That's strange - Jinx saving caitlyn before fighting "vander" in the last episode - Jayce's and caitlyn's last interaction as old friends - more of jayce and mel. They're a couple, common. They needed a proper goodbye. He made up with victor but couldn't have 1 dialogue with the woman thanks to which he achieved great things and saved the world? These 2 seem to have forgotten about each other - at least 1 Ekko's and vi's interaction, especially after powder's death - Jayce finding out about the fact ekko's responsible for the incident in his apartment - ekko telling everyone about heimerdinger's sacrifice - caitlyn apologizing to vi for shit she did to her - singed should've died - more of ekko and jinx in the original world. At least 1 convo or flashback of their childhood before the last fight - more episodes. The last 5 are very rushed with so many characters, conflicts and plotlines. Either there should've been 15+ episodes in the season or make then season 3 about piltover and undercity preparing for a new war, fighting a common enemy and finally making peace after that - the people jinx rescued from prison should've paid her back and helped her somehow

The major problem with season 2 is that it went from being so down to earth to becoming abstract with apocalypse and magic etc. This is wrong in itself. Promises and payoffs. The entire tone of Arcane is that it's practical and down to earth with hints of magic and larger concepts outside the story which also gives a feeling of a vast world. They should have completely skipped the story around the anomaly and The Arcane. (I don’t care that it’s in the name). These are concepts and things that never get explained, are confusing, destroy already established lore and diminish the significance of other things while taking time away from other elements. The story around the Black Rose could have been hinted at behind the scenes without having any major significance for Arcane's story. It should only be hints. Which could be developed in the next project about Noxus. It would give the feeling of a larger world without taking away Arcane's down-to-earth feeling. And it would have made the viewer interested in potential future projects. What should the story have been about? The conflict between the two social classes! What the story was about in season 1 and what was built up to be expanded in season 2. The entire season 1 built up for the great conflict between Piltover and Zaun. And that's what the story should have focused on in season 2. With focus on the characters and their relationships as they need to deal with the harsh reality. That's what grips the viewer. How would I have structured the story for season 2? With a great war and conflict between Piltover and Zaun that develops throughout the season to then get a heartbreaking and impactful ending to the story between the different characters we have followed, but still leaves the larger overarching story with the conflict between Piltover and Zaun open and active. This keeps the world open and alive with possibilities for all other stories that can take place with other characters in Piltover and Zaun, while still getting a clear ending to the current story that played out in Arcane. What would that story have been? Okay, Jinx has just attacked the council and killed Caitlyn's mother and several leaders. Episodes 1-3 act 1 are perfect and build on this so nicely. The only change I would have made is that I would have skipped Isha completely. Instead, I would have dived deeper into Jinx's madness and instability that was so beautifully built up during season 1. I imagine Jinx really embracing the identity of Jinx and carrying out resistance against Piltover with full force through acts of terror and attacks. She's really a madwoman and villain, where her good side sometimes leaks through. These continued attacks from Jinx and some from the barons lead to Caitlyn becoming a dictator etc. I imagine that the hatred among Piltover's people should be through the roof. Especially if Jinx and people from Zaun carried out attacks and acts of terror that killed people in Piltover, maybe Jayce's mother too? This could pressure and force Jayce to use Hextech to equip the military. In other words, build on Jayce's hard side from season 1. Especially considering the anger he would feel after losing his mother. But also that he would likely have given up hope for peace considering they responded to the peace proposal with an act of terror in season 1 ep 9. Piltover's cruel response against Zaun would create tensions in relationships. Vi would leave Cait in the same way because of a fight and to be with her people. She can have her full drinking/fighting period with the big police guy. But then maybe she teams up with the Firelights who try to help the population in Zaun and resist Jinx and the other actors who commit terror attacks against Piltover. She and the Firelights try to find a peaceful solution with well-meaning/peace-oriented people within Piltover. Meanwhile, Piltover's brutality against Zaun and Jinx's active counterattacks with acts of terror lead to the Jinx cult being created. The group that follows Jinx and also wants to resist. Much more reasonable that this group is created if Jinx is actually an active party attacking Piltover! Then focus can also be on the Chem Barons. How these people and groups fight more directly against Piltover. Maybe we see the beginning of Renata Glass? In other words, Jinx and her followers stand for more chaotic resistance against Piltover with terror attacks and spontaneous attacks. While the barons represent Zaun's more structured resistance with troops and soldiers. Much better than just killing them off in some music videos. When it comes to Jayce and Victor, I think their conflict could have become so much better in this story. First of all, the conflict begins with Jayce supporting Piltover and providing them with Hextech weapons. Victor survives and realizes how to use Hextech to survive and to help others. Help via Hextech as a technical invention, not as some magical Jesus thing. I envision how Victor leaves Jayce and Piltover due to the conflict created when Jayce supports the offensive against Zaun. Maybe Victor saves some people from Zaun, maybe some supporters of Jinx, by giving them robot parts improved via his new Hextech knowledge. Then it turns out that these robot parts/improvements were used by Jinx's supporters to carry out additional terror attacks against Piltover, maybe this is when Jayce's mother dies? In other words because Victor is to blame, which Jayce understands because he recognizes the technology from Victor. This would have been the perfect catalyst for Victor's conviction about the glorious evolution. Because he realizes that humans are flawed, both Jayce and those he saved use Hextech as weapons and are all completely wrong. Solution: to remove the human factor from his robot improvements. So Victor doesn't just turn body parts into more robots when he saves them. He makes their minds and feelings more robot-like with his technology, something he's already done to himself. Glorious evolution!

The story with Warwick still has much potential. Similarly, the story with Ambessa and the Noxus invasion. I think that Singed should have created Warwick. His goal is to stop death and save Orianna etc. But one change I would like to make is that he actually works for the Chem Barons. And they finance his work because they hope he can develop stronger weapons they can use against Piltover. They hope, for example, that they can use Warwick against Piltover. Additionally, Singed should have several other researchers who are employed by the Chem Barons to learn from Singed. This opens up possibilities for more researchers who exist in Zaun and who might later create Mundo, Zac, or Urgot etc. I think later that Singed might be captured during a raid from Piltover. This causes him to activate Warwick in the same way as what happened in the series, just that now there's a reasonable explanation. Warwick is intended to be used as a weapon against Piltover. Moreover, maybe Singed wants to activate Warwick to protect his lab/Orianna from Piltover etc. Meanwhile, maybe Jinx is planning some attack on the prison to kill masses of Piltover people and free prisoners. Vi is there with Firelights to stop Jinx because she will kill several Zaun people simultaneously through the attack. Shows how Jinx is insane. Then the attack from Warwick happens and Jinx is there fighting and then sees Vander. This should disturb Jinx's fanatical state. Maybe she comes back somehow? Vi should probably see this. But she's the only one who sees it. Piltover's people, Cait and Firelights with Ekko etc. should still see Jinx as a major enemy. Singed should later be recruited by Ambessa. Meanwhile, Cait is slowly getting tired of her dictator role and all the death. She is slowly getting tired of Ambessa and no longer wants to cooperate with Noxus. This could be done via dialog and meetings with Mel that is still in Piltover in my version. They are both tired of all the violence and hatred. And Cait maybe gets closer to Vi and Ekko again. Similarly, Jayce starts doubting himself and the violence. He hears about Victor's work of "saving" people by making them more robot-like. He wants to save Victor from this robot state he seems to have put himself in. Jayce maybe comes down to Victor's lab where Victor appears to be doing very inhuman things with people. This causes Jayce to stop everything to end their suffering. This leads to them all dying. A scene from the old lore. If you know you know. I think the season could end with the conflict against Noxus becoming larger. It's Noxus troops that hit hardest against Zaun. So Zaun is against Noxus and Ambessa. Meanwhile, a confrontation arises between Piltover and Noxus. This results in Ambessa being forced to leave Piltover with her troops. I still want to argue that Piltover and then also Mel (who isn't stuck in Black Rose story) have more soldiers etc. in their city to drive away Ambessa. This leads to Ambessa preparing her entire army for an invasion instead, I think that in smaller scenes throughout the season you can have seen how she prepared the whole army for a major invasion in case her collaboration with Cait ends. These scenes are also where we could have gotten hints about the Black Rose. Meanwhile, Ekko and Heimer have researched the Z-drive. Similarly, Jayce builds and creates more and more Hextech weapons. But he realizes they can be improved with Victor's help. So he gets help from Victor even though Victor is increasingly robot-like. Jayce wants to reconcile with Victor, but Victor is more robot pragmatic and only helps because it is reasonable. Then the great battle begins. Noxus invades and attacks both Piltover and Zaun. Which results in both parties being forced to fight against Noxus and defend themselves. Goes tough for them. Noxus is strong. This is also where they have a scene between Jinx, Vi, and Warwick in a similar way to what was in the season ending (but better and more credible). That Jinx sacrifices herself in some way. They fail to save Vander, because of something Singed did or so. So Jinx sacrifices herself in a similar way as Isha did to save Vi, Cait, Jayce, and Ekko. Her redemption. Then the battle against Noxus continues. They appear to be losing until Jayce and Victor's improved inventions and Ekko's Z-drive turn the battlefield. Ambessa maybe dies, or not. Maybe she is forced to flee. But overall Piltover and Zaun manage to defend themselves from Noxus. Final scenes. See how Jayce tries to reach out to Victor after the victory. But Victor seems to be too far gone in his glorious evolution. They go separate ways. Jinx is presumed dead, but probably isn't. Warwick is to be taken by Singed who makes the final transformation of him. Show Orianna and that Singed works under Noxus now. Vi is together with Cait and they work together with the Firelights to try to create more order and collaboration between Piltover and Zaun. Meanwhile, you see how certain houses in Piltover haven't given up on the conflict between Piltover and Zaun and they don't support Cait's and Vi's ambition peace, maybe Camille's house? Similarly, we can see in Zaun that several Chem Barons are dead in Zaun after the battle against Noxus, but maybe a scene hinting at Renata Glass and future chem baron activity. Similarly, a scene showing that Zaun is still a wild place. Several of the doctors who worked under Singed remain etc. Shows that this story is over, but the larger story between Piltover and Zaun continues. Similarly, a scene from Ambessa that teases the conflict in Noxus which will likely be the next project for Riot.

Too many characters, too many plot lines, and a lack of focus on thematic intent. Ideally, if you're going to write this kind of show, you need to know exactly where you're going thematically, and have it all planned out in advance. They didn't, and it shows. Damned shame, really.

And tho I loved episode 7 it‘s also kind of random, that ekko fell in love with jinx/powder, when there was literally nothing between them before?? Like you said, they just started building to many roads at the same time and kind of merged them together to one big ugly road that didn‘t make much sense

You are too harsh. Shows of this magnitude are almost impossible to make a plan for that will last the show's entire lifetime. Expectations and conditions change rapidly. But regardless, try planning a tv show even a thousand times simpler than this show, you will realize it is not that easy, because most of the aspects of it are not in your control, it's in corporate overlord hands, driven by profit.

One of my problems is the fact that throughout the three arc, multiple ideas are introduced, immediately dropped, new ideas added, they are dropped to reintroduce new ideas and then left those ideas open for the future without resolving any of them. This whole season was a mess with no actual cohesion. It felt this whole time like they had ALLL those ideas, yet no time to actually apply them. Warwick was ruined for me, making him a weird… something? I can’t even tell what he is supposed to be. He defiantly is not a mutant anymore and more of a cyborg. Like… the end does not feel like an ending to a story, and it does not feel like it begins a new one either, it just… fells like the story froze in time. (Not a joke, it’s not funny) The story of piltover and zaun does not feel like it ended, but it also does not feel like it will continue either. Yeah, they did show Leblanc, and it was one of the most accurate portrayals. From what I understood in her interaction with Mel, she is recruiting mages to keep Mordekaiser at bay, just like in original lore, and Ambessa was consistently trying to fight against them without even knowing that something worse waits behind the organization. (This is how Leblanc sold herself, as a paragon. But everyone knows she is trying to harness mordekaisers power for herself.) However, Mel and Leblanc still feel rushed, show and say what you have to and move on. This whole season was one mess of multiple loose and cut off threads.

It became too much to juggle and wrap up since they split everyone's story arcs so hard. I don't even think another act would save it. I don't think the writers thought that hard on the black rose. For me each act felt like a completely different story. Act 1 was pretty good. Tensions were rising and the fight at the end between Vi and Jinx made sense. I was completely thrown off by Jinx and Vi teaming up but got used to it. Act 3....besides ep 7, I feel like the action overtook the characters. I wanted some sort of closure for Vi and Jinx and did not like how they handled "Jinx's death scene"

I think the reason for this is because of how connected Arcane’s story is to League’s lore, Obviously, League is a long ongoing story of countless of champions and regions and Arcane being only a small portion of that story means that they can never truly “close off” a story in Arcane. Even though Arcane has reached its finale, Piltover and Zaun, the characters still partakes in the story meaning that their story hasn’t truly end.

Exactly this. Not only does s2 as a whole feel like it will only feel better if Fortiche is given the green light to do more shows, but Caitlyn's rise to dictatorship had all of zero weight on the story. They had a really good thing going with Warwick then decided to completely obliterate it for all of 3 episodes where Viktor was actually his game self before he drops that personality entirely. Vi leaving her sister to off herself just to get some is a character assassination hitherto undreamt of. Jayce trying vehemently to kill Viktor only to flip a switch in the end and reconsider the fact that alter future Viktor saying "stop me and make me see that perfection is stagnation" doesn't mean "kill me and don't stop trying." Sevika is given a token seat on the new council and will likely be out voted in any decision she attempts to make to better Zaun because she's so clearly outnumbered. Mel winning a random and uneven trial by combat and assuming governance over a land she might as well be foreign to just shouts accident waiting to happen. And Ambessa and Heimer dying couldn't be any more of a fake out. Making the only consistently good characters Ekko and Jinx. The worst part is that you can't even say there was only one way everything worked out in the perfect future Viktor was trying to achieve because there's literally a whole ass alternate reality where almost everyone has a happy ending. So instead it just reads as Viktor's rabid attempts at self preservation instead of accepting his fate so that the largest amount of good can occur.

Confusing time jump, awkward fan service for the sake of fan service, leap of faith moments where it felt like they were going "just go with it". I feel like they needed a couple more episodes or maybe even another season for what they were trying to do. Here's a few points I wish to bring up about Season 2 (spoilers): - Heimerdinger's sacrifice is never acknowledged after Ekko returns. - Jinx's "death" left me feeling empty as it wasn't confirmed whether or not she survived. A main character since Season 1 and we don't get a proper conclusion on her fate. - Speaking of Jinx, her status as a symbol of the rebellion is basically forgotten by the end. - The rest of the chembarons are forgotten. - Piltover and Zaun being all buddy-buddy suddenly feels very rushed. They have had violent conflicts since the very beginning, and I don't think Zaun's residents would be willing to fight with topsiders so easily, even though they have a common enemy. - Caitlyn never apologizes to Vi for hitting her and leaving her to suffer in the pits after their confrontation with Jinx. These are just a few points I can think off and there's many more people have pointed out. Personally, I won't be watching Season 2 again on my own.

If you care about LGBTQ more than sisterhood or family then obviously you will love the ending. But what has V got now more trauma, no closer just depression and bad memories. Glad there isnt another season, imo everything was great up to episode 6 Season 2, after that it just poorly scripted and executed with heavy emphasis a relationship many of us dont care about or interested in which is Caitlin and V (hey script writers majority of us viewing audience are not LGBTQ, however we do have sisters and families which again aren't LGBTQ too) .

Honestly if Jayce just died from the rocket the story would have been better. It would have given Kaitlin more reason to go full dictator, meaning the Vi-Jinx-Kaitlin drama would be even beter. Victor could survive by turning himself into a cyborg. After the attack he would see Piltovers bloodlust and leave for the undercity to provide them hextech/cyborg shit. That would actually make sense for his character, and fit with the lore, unlike the weird marvelesque story we got. In the story we got Victor all of a sudden turned evil, and it was really poorly explained why. He explained his new philosophy of wanting to cure humanity of being human, but I feel there was very little leading him to draw that conclusion, apart from the hexcore juice bath scrambling his mind, which is a really boring premise. Jayces actions after the time travel adventure made no sense at all. Why did he kill the council person, why did he attack Victor? If all that needed to happen was Victor touching Jayce so he could read his mind and realize his evil plan was evil, why didn't Jayce just make that happen instead of shooting him?

Riot's statement is weird. After season 1 it made sense as while some things were canonized and/or different (Singed being Oriana's Fathe, Vander being Warwick and Vi and Jinx being sisters) they still were consistent enough to fit into the previous canon. We could see how Caitlyn becomes sherif with Vi as her special enforcer for example. But the second season went off the rails. Pretty much everyone is dead or out of the picture. The only ones who truly made it out were Vi, Catlyn, Ekko, Singed and Oriana (Jinx is a maybe). I know this is supposed to be the end of the Piltover/Zaun story, but they should have left room for future ideas or plot lines. I though the purpose of this show was to establish the character and show how they got to where they are in game.

Canon Piltover does not have the Hexgate tower, it has the Sun Gates Panama canal structure, along with Zaun being older than Piltover as a Shurima settlement, with the fisures created as a byproduct of Sun Gates construction. Also Hextech was part of the lore for years before Jayce even existed, as it was connected with the Ferrous family and Camille. Shimmer was not this Void mutagen, it was just a drug. Viktor and Jayces relationship was way more different, Heimerdinger was not Piltover's founder, Piddly was not a founder but Viktor's contemporary and one who stole Blitzcrank from him, Singed was not Orianna's father, Ekko had parents and Firelights did not exist, Arcane does not work this way etc.

Jayce was dying in the snow. The mage had to come back to save Jayce for the timeline to even happen. Without Jayce, hextech never gets created to begin with (hence the separate reality in ep. 7). So Viktor (the mage, supposedly) purposely causes the timeline to happen by going back in time... only to try an infinite number of ways to fix it... instead of just never saving Jayce to begin with... I truly hate timetravel stories... it's never planned out, and they always have to try to retcon in fixes that just make it worse the more you think about it...

What made season 1 great was that it had this one basic overall plot where ALL the characters revolved around which was Piltover vs Zaun. Sure, you had some personal character plots going on at the same time but it never diverged from the main plot. Season 2 was all over the place. We went from a Zaun vs Piltover war to fighting an army of robotic white walkers controlled by Jesus with an accent. They just completely dropped the Zaun vs Piltover war like that 🫰. Jinx was going through some sever mental health issues that I think the writers forgot about because a couple of episodes later, she isn't as insane anymore and just become a hero because people like her now I guess. Vi literally got physically assaulted by her ex, yet there was absolutely no apology for that. Ambessa was being promoted like HELL by Riot Games only for them to kill her off at the end. Also, seemed rather dumb of her to be so trusting of a man who could basically mind control everyone he touches but anyway.... Mel being a random mage just because. Heimerdinger abandoning everyone to play country music I just... i have no words. The whole conflict in season 1 that was THE MAIN PLOT became resolved after Jake Gyllenhaal said "lets be friends and defeat the robots." Random characters that we consistently see that we didn't get enough screen time with but we're supposed to care about like Temu Vander. Honestly, Echo and Singed were the only consistent characters throughout the whole series. They couldbhave DEFINITELY created at least one more season at least. I hope they expand though with the new series which seems like it will be in Noxus.

A show was developed without the main canon in mind, was brute forced into the main canon by Riot executives due to its popularity, months before second season's release (so there was no time to fix the story in light of this decision). This ultimately screws over Runeterra main lore and it's fans, and it screws over Arcane lore and it's fans. This one decision also retroactively makes S1 worse, despite the pacing issues and story decisions in S2 that made it worse than S1.

The craziness was pretty much gone and she just felt like an entirely different character. Warwick just felt silly to me and again just felt like forced emotion damage. He never called vi are powder his daughter when he was vandar but now he does just because big sad. Music was irritating. Vi and caitlyns whoopy scene was just cringy and i skipped it. Nothing against gay people, but the wailing music and complete lack of Subtlety was jarring. Felt more like soft core porn. The main issue is that the characters change too quickly without enough explanation. The primary example is Jinx. In season one we were supposed grasp the concept that Powder and Jinx were diffeewnt identities. In season two, the line between Jinx and Powder are blurred which if done right is fine; however, the change between Powder and Jinx is too fast and ambiguous. The second one ends with Jinx embracing being Jinx over being Powder. Jinx had the fight with Vi where we get a hint of Powder moments before her supposed to be death. Then, Warwick/Vander is found out to be alive by Jinx. My theory is that Vander being alive sort of "activated" Powder in Jinx. Powder's identity to herself is being Vander's daughter. To Powder, Vi is her sister. So, when Powder is activated again througu Vander being alive, then the relation from Powder's view between Vi and Powder is being sisters again. Then, Isha and Vander died. So, Powder is gone again and leaves Jinx in power which is why we get Jinx locking Vi in the cell. For some reason, Jinx believes that the cycle of killing goes on because of Vi and her; so, Jinx is set on non-aliveing herself. (I think she does not try to kill Vi because at her core she is still Powder?) Ekko stops Jinx from non-aliveing herself; which, I think makes Powder activate again because Ekko and Powder are friends (side note: I do not know why Ekko calls Jinx his friend. Yes, he had the dance with the healthier Jinx in another universe, but why does that make him call this Jinx his friend?). This puts Vi and Jinx/Powder as sisters again; which, is why Jinx tries to save Vi. The issue with all of this is that the events happen without clear explanation of why they happen. If you view it with an eased mind that is not trying to connect all of the dots, then you get just characters changing their mind without explanation. Also, Jinx's change in season one sort of means nothing. She wasn't stuck being Jinx while not being Powder. She was just Jinx with Powder easily coming out. Yes, the character still makes sense, but it makes the season one ending a sort of illusion if the story is supposed to make sense.
@Verlisify

I was ind of getting at that with my part about the anxiety of which character ruins everyone's happiness. Then it becomes "Kill jinx" "don't kill her" "kill her" "don't" "I'm win Ambessa" "Psych. Don't kill Jinx" Also why Ekko and Singed are the best characters. Consistent
@meermeer6882
@meermeer6882 Ай бұрын
@Verlisify The issue of people changing their mind quickly regarding whether to kill Jinx or not is the result of not giving us enough time to allow the psychology of characters to fall upon us. The psychology of characters in association with events make sense when you think about the events hard enough. However, the fast pace makes the character ambitions ambiguous to the point you have to critically think for the story to make sense. We have the sensory stimuli and then we have our mind constantly asking ourselves why a character does something. If we have a super fast pace and not enough time to explain the character's psychology, then we get a lot of visual stimuli which is meaningless or at least if we can connect the dots, we get a story that feels blurry because you don't know if that's what the writer really intended. To me, the show felt like I was filling in the blanks and finding reasons rather than having the psychology of characters being solid.

“For some reason, Jinx believes that the cycle of killing goes on because of Vi and her” wdym ‘some reason’?? she LITERALLY thinks she’s a jinx who causes everyone around her that she cares about to die. She thought she had a second chance when Vander came back as Warwick, but then when she lost him AGAIN along with Isha, she broke But Echo realized how much of Powder was still there, and was able to use other Powder’s words to reach her and convince her that she wasn’t, in fact, broken. There wasn’t any curse. There was beauty in her imperfection - the same beauty that Jayce sees in Victor, who he’s able to convince in that same way.
@meermeer6882
@meermeer6882 Ай бұрын
@@JonathanJuan I get that psychology, but I think the way they tried to portray it was done poorly. Silco in hallucination form says, "the cycle of killing won't stop with you two (Vi and Jinx), stop the cycle." Hallucinatory Silco also said something about how Vander and himself were a part of that cycle of killing. What is this cycle of killing? Is it Jinx killing her loved ones because of opposing sides? How does Vi tie into the cycle? Does Vi tie in because Jinx thinks she will kill Vi? Does Vi tie in by her being the one Jinx cares about? How does the cycle play out between Silco and Vander and also Vi and Jinx? If the cycle is that Jinx finds someone she cares about then messes up, then how does that cycle happen between Vander and Silco? The idea of the cycle is the idea that drives Jinx to do what she does. Yet, I think we don't get enough details about what this cycle is. I do see your point and it makes sense that Jinx would think that way; however, I am confused about how Jinx' thought that she is a Jinx that goes through a cycle of killing her loved ones WHILE that same cycle happened to Vander and Silco. We could make the argument that Vander and Silco were both killed by Jinx and so they were included in the cycle; however, it can be interpreted that they meant the relationship between Vander and Silco caused killing. The question about what the "cycle" is, is too open which is bad because this cycle is the principle that drives Jinx to unaliveing herself. In regard to Ekko, your psychology of the characters makes sense, but the psychology wasn't explained well enough in the show. In the show the senses tell us he had a date night, went through a wild rune, and saved Jinx. The show did not explain how the experience in the other universe changed his beliefs about Jinx in the OG universe. I would like to ask a question: how exactly do you know your explanations of the characters psychology are what the writers actually intended? Sure, your explanations can make sense, but to me it is blurry of whether the writers intended that psychology or not.

In season 1 it was all about the characters relations with a good combination of exploring the arcane but everything was still in a frame where it was well explained and also the motivations od the characters and the reason for their actions was explained thoroughly. But in season 2 suddenly it was all about the arcane, nothing was explained to us anymore (like how did viktor heal the people, how could he create those weird fighting robots) snd it just seemed like they tried to push everything into 9 episodes. And also jinx‘ death was weirdly out of context, like it she and vi already seemed to have overcomed their past (again, when and how exactly did they do this) so there wasn’t really a reason for jinx to sacrifice herself. I mean even the fact that for some reason vander/warwick could still move after the viktor died/vanished doesn’t make any sense. This is just a small portion of the list of things I really didn’t like. Of course there were a lot of beautiful scenes too like the prison reunion between jinx and Isha or the family reunion or the whole perfect world ekko could have lived with powder (seeing powder happy was actually heartbreaking, as we never saw her that joyful since she was a kid in the main universe), but to be fair even here I need to ask, where this romance came from. Not that it was bad but it just felt out of context a bit, as Ekko and Powder never had a romantic relationship before. Just look at the songs they went from complimentary pieces to the series and narrative to essentially speed runs through what could've been entire episodes and arcs. The first album has 11 songs and the second for season two has 22 both including the intro. I feel season 2 could've ended at the arc 2 with arc 1 and 2 being developed over rushed through with music videos. The characters take such leaps and the narrative the way its done makes you guess and fill in the blanks yourself over showing you the story itself. Like how did Caitlyn go from being shattered by her mothers death to the falling out with Vi to the first person in power in Piltover along Ambessa. They give you the checkpoints and you make the story yourself. If Powder's descend into madness was in season 2 it would've been a music video, over the gradient transformation that took place in the 2nd and 3rd arc of season 1 with the finale which *fittingly* ends with a song.

It wasn't complicated. It was random. Random things consistently happend since the first episode. It continued with more random things happening. Every episode seemed to be a random ministory barely connected to the rest of the story. I'm so annoyed people praise this

Yeah and what upset me the most is how the characters were handled as a result. Characters that don't know each other suddenly team up without addressing the convergence of their motives, characters behavior feels kinda incoherent with their motives and it feels like there's no character development at all. It all feels rushed and the characters feel kinda empty as a result. There was no clear direction being followed, it all seemed like it was going nowhere but we somehow got an ending out of the mess lol.

Tragic story between the two sister is the heart of arcane. And they decided to ruin it by making a world ending apocalypse that completely overshadow them. It is not even about having enough time, it is an artistic decision of going unnecessarily big which started out as a grounded emotional story.

Let's be honest: It would have been a better show. With a promising Season 1, we were expecting more. This...budgeted and abridged Season 2 sucks...and big names like Necrit and Moist couldn't point out the bad animations and such. Put the plot and narrative transitions aside, Arcane Season 2 DOES NOT DELIVER. No way Arcane Season 2/Arcane the Series can be a 10/10 experience. And all those paid MVs...that is a new low. I feel like those artists bid and paid Riot to put their songs into the series. My friend was right, there was no point including 9 music videos to the show unless they are PAID ADS promoting the artists! 😮 Simply they didn't do it in Season 1! (I went back to watch Season 1 just to confirm it)

If you factor in that their most successful skin ventures were the music related ones like KDA, it makes a lot more sense why Riot leans on the music artist to garner more attention.

How was it contrived? She died to end her cycle of pain and tragedy, it’s like very Odvious why she sacrificed herself. We literally hear ambessa tell Caitlyn that one of the tenants of battle is “sacrifice”. Ishas death didn’t have to be mentioned, it was Obvious she died, and it was plain as day that jinx was in despair about it, does a show have to hold peoples hand for everything?

Lets be honest here. There was never an outcome that will make season 2 satisfying. Its a matter of how much they can cram and how cohesive it is at the end given the massive restrictions it has. It still acceptable overall. The Riot higher-ups approved 2 seasons. And that’s it. So props to Christian, Fortiche and co for a such difficult task.

Yeah man... it was super disappointing. As its own separate entity I think it works despite the pacing problems, but as someone who's a League lore fan it just feels so unsatisfying. This is the new canon according to Riot, and I really hope they go back on that and just make it a separate universe again because like WTF. So is Warwick in game just not canon anymore? They were really prepping him up to turn into the full werewolf in act 3 and I was so hyped! But then they were just like "nuh uh he got turned into Viktor's weird robot void monsters" and then he just exploded. Viktor also feels completely overpowered and just not fun, he's supposed to be a man helping others with the power of technology, when did he suddenly become an unstoppable prophet? I was really hoping that Ekko and Jayce would kick Viktor's ass at the end but they messed that up and ended up killing off so many champions (or at the very least making them go MIA). It's sad. I just wish they had been given more time to cook with the show and just stuck with stuff that kept the canon intact (doesn't have to be exact).

Sevika felt like she's gonna become a new champ and a new boss of Zaun, something like a middle ground between Vander and Silco. Would love to see Viktor actually rebuild himself as a robot after his act 2's percussive maintainence and be left to exist as a background guy, the Jesus of the undercity he was planned(?) to be. Felt like Janna was going to make an appearance, but well, whatewer. Ambessa as a champion and a villain-like figure? Felt like they were going with Mel for that role, leaving the grandma to perish for Mel's character developement. Also the way she wields her magic so good with little to no practice is questionable at least. Space wizard Viktor, an actual hive mind and a genius, killing everyone just for what? Beats Viego by a long shot with this one. (Act 3 makes me think that Ruination was quite nice, actually.) The hell was this performance of Viktor killing off(?) Skye? Wasn't she the reason behind most of his actions? Where is the pacifist dude we've actually seen the entireity of the show, well, before act 3 came to existance. And what is with all the space stuff? Also why does he need an additional arm in this form - can't he regenerate like crazy and manipulate his body? Was it a compensation for his malfunctioning limbs before the transformation, a show off, or just for giggles - still a mystery. Don't they dare rework the guy and take his iconic dance from us. If this happens, League dies for me. Warwick... Could have grown an actual wolf head after the original one was shot off, I guess. A nice touch, considering that Vander died shortly after. And this list could go on, and on, and on...
@DarthHuys
@DarthHuys Ай бұрын
And yes, Silco's semi-retcon and all of the Jinx's "I'm miserable, let me just kill myself" stuff. Not an illogical option, but still far from good. Could fit a bit more character developement in here, especially with all the teasing of her as a new leader of Zaun. Let her have fun, maybe bang Ekko, whatever. The turn from a chaotic Joker-like character she was in the OG lore to an anti-hero would be simple, but mind-blowing. I'd really like to say that the season 2 was decent, bearable at least. And it was, until now. It was damn good with setting up things. I just wish there was someone competent to resolve all of them

I loved act 3 BUT i do have one problem with the writing I understand time was a constraint but Viktor's opening dialogue with Ambessa does not convey his:"I wanted to save Vander and humanity even if I become powerless" to" the doctor made me change my mind" arc seen in Act 2, but it rather comes across as"making them robots was always my intention". Which makes him always seem evil, which was not the story development the series presented specially siding with Ambessa when her warmorgering is precissely what caused the whole problem

Oh okay maybe I’m out of touch or too old but I liked it. From an non-league player pov, I think the narrative was driven well. Coming from a complete rando normie (never played league, only Ruined King). I thought the second season was far, far too convoluted. There were too many plot lines and not enough time to close them out to satisfaction. I didn't like the introduction of a multiverse and time travel, it creates a mess and a headache with attempting to figure out what in the actual hell happened.
