GTA Online fans have grinded billions worth of dollars in assets in the over 10 years of content from GTA Online DLC. But will happen when GTA 6 Online comes out? Will items carry over, or will Rockstar reset everything? In 2025, the new GTA 6 will be out and we will be loading into the new GTA 6 Online. Today, we will try and answer exactly what the future of GTA 6 Online looks like, from everything we know so far.

The game will have to last another 10 years minimum and i think the map will get pretty stale sooner or later. So map expansions would be my number one thing. The ideal would be a GTA universe sort of world where you could travel between Vice, Liberty, and San Andreas via a plane, perhaps with a loading screen just like you travel to Cayo Perico in 5 online.

More maps, the ability to buy a mansion or even a real estate business, functional earphones, while walking or on a bicycle with headphones on we should be able to hear music, ability to hire more than 4 people to a crew like gta sa could've hire up to 7 i think or even 10 (ceo or biker gang), new cellphone look, the ability to paint stock rims tht is like my #1 request right now 😀, better traffic with fuctional indicators so we can see ahead where npcs going to turn, any other things i think of i'll edit this again. Lol

And data is stored on SocialClub servers which they won't shutdown since GTA 6 will definetly use it too, so that only leaves matchmaking servers so anything using that will be broken should they shutdown those but i like to think even if GTA Online "servers" shutdown, the core game still will be playable? I mean sure it's only game packets that are sent trough p2p and unlike precessor gta 4 mp, where you could host p2p lobbies and have more customization while gta online is just, telling matchmaking servers to find a "server" and join that, so i think this will be similar to GTA 5 on PS3/360 GTA Online servers, you won't be able to play after they shutdown the matchmaking servers. Atleast PC players have FiveM tho

Wasn't it hosted by other people via Peer to peer? afaik that is why it was so unsecure... I hope they keep it running, but this will definitely be a clean slate, improved engine, graphics, mechanics, etc.

@@zipkitty I mean the game packets are send trough p2p, but matchmaking is run trough on their end + socialclub manages player data. I think something similar will happen when GTA 5 PS3/360 servers got shutdown. It isn't just P2P unlike GTA IV MP, where you could just host a match and play as long you downgraded it ofc (altrough online matches won't work but LAN still there so 2 player missions could also be played) while GTA Online requires servers to function so no servers = you can't play, classic live service game. Atleast PC has FiveM, and if the RP isn't your thing you could make custom gamemodes and share them if you don't want to host servers yourself, as the scripting language FiveM uses is Lua and that's very simple as long you understand Lua + you can look at their native docs for all the gta v native functions.

Another option, they could always remaster using the new engine gta 3,4, and 5 and include the maps into gta online via DLC purchase and make it where you can travel between Los Santos, vice city, liberty city ect via the air port, not only can you creat at least 1 new charecter but also only your money can travel with you between cities so players will be able to build more in other cities while still having what they have in Los Santos.

They're going to carry over your online player to the GTA 6. You're not getting wiped. You'll still have your progress in GTA Online but you won't be able to carry that over into Vice City. That means weapons, money etc. People have forgot that GTA Online has been recently enhanced on PS5 & Xbox series x/s versions. They did that for a reason. Los Santos will always be around. GTA Online will be like a map expansion for GTA 6

I can see it being a new standalone game (GTA:O 2) where you can bring your character over to a new version with the new map but still log into current GTA:O standalone if you wanted to play in Los Santos again.

An option you didn't mention would be driving gta+ subs by allowing porting some cars/money over if you have and keep gta+ subscription. If you ever cancel you lose the ported inventory.

I think the clean slate is the only realistic option, but i would like the returning player start-up bonus. As for our characters' image transferring, i think we are just going to have to create it again. With the new level of graphics and detail, it would make it look like Claude from GTA3 just got plugged into GTA online. I look forward to GTA 6. But i won't be diving hard into online until after i finished the story. That way, 6 online will already have a few DLCs and updates out to clean up the early day mess and glitches.

GTA 4 MP on PC, the multiplayer function is removed and on downgraded versions i think you can only host (and only people connected on the same LAN connection could join?) And GTA Online, it's heavily relient on servers for matchmaking, player data, etc so while some people did manage to run ps3/360 online, the matchmaking parts are broken so no missions or races/dms because those are relying on Rockstar's servers, so it's highly likely same thing will happen at some point with current day GTA Online. But game packets? They use P2P

I think they should just keep evolving the current gta online instead of making a new 1 for every story mode they bring out and just add the maps and make the airport more functional obviously they will hv to update the physics of the current online gameplay bt tht should b easy. Obviously, we will have to buy the new story mode to get the map on our online account . To me, that makes way more sense. Those who want a clean slate should just delete their character and start over. Tbh i love my character in gta online right now, and i honestly don't want to start over. I see so much more potential in the game that way, and i think it will feel so much better and more realistic. I wish i could really share my thoughts on the matter with r* as i type, i keep getting more and more ideas that are good, which can save time going forward and making future content. As for online gameplay, i would like to see more phone skins, maybe a real estate dlc, bring back the market trading from the story mode, pimp missions, and own a strip club (pimping dlc), girlfriend/boyfriend like in gta sa mini game we could've go on a date (relationship dlc), basically things im about to say i think is rumored to b in gta vi. First of all , online will still be up . Maybe after years if rockstar doesn't decide to have it just like red dead online too . We would still play after gta 6 releases , however i doubt they are going to put online right way , because everyone will go there and won't play the story at all . Which to me , the story is the most fun thing ever . Online would still be up after the online for 6 releases as well, I believe it will wipe out on pc because of the fact that we are being treated as garbage cans . PC players that can't afford a console will still play gta online for maybe around a year , until rockstar releases on pc as well. However just a reminder don't expect a lot of things on gta 6 online, I am pretty sure it would have not much things to do on the first days and probably the servers will be shit and what not!

gta v online is completely fucked, 50% of lobbies have hackers that can do anything they want. I've had someone drop millions of dollars on my characters head which at the time I thought was awesome.. ultimately made me stop playing for years because I had no reason to grind anymore. If there was no reset much like jetro says in the video we would go into gta 6 with players that have obscene amounts of wealth. there has to be a reset overall, also i imagine porting vehicles and such from gta v to gta 6 would be an insane task because the models in gta 6 have way more independent pieces to them. It would require each vehicle to be basically remade from scratch.

I think it would be nice for the economy in gta 6 to be completely different, in order to get supercars and such they should be very difficult to achieve. Could lead to players being more interested in working with that they do have access to and with the expected levels of customizability could lead to some interesting car creations as well as characters. Overall taking some aspects from modded GTARP servers e.g. nopixel. there has clearly as shown by the community been a large want for something a little more down to earth, because when everything is out of control nothing is unexpected. you go into GTA-Online expecting tanks. Imagine if the tank or supercar that a player was inside of had more economic weight (more status). I think that would have a far better appeal than the slaughter fest we have currently.

It would be better to do the engine switch and let everybody keep everything they earned or paid for in GTA Online with all of that carrying over to GTA 6 Online. Forcing us to start again like they did in RDO is one of many reasons as to why it didn’t succeed as much as GTA Online did, and why RDO would bomb and eventually be abandoned.

I'm sure you'll have V Online but also have the option to go to 6 Online with a different file, but with your character. You won't bring your money or weapons or any of that, but your character will remain the same if you so choose to. You will have the option to make a new character. It won't be intergrated, which was considered - go to the airport and travel to San Andreas with a cut scene and then land at LSIA. But it will be two different entities you sign on to one but sign out to go to the other. Most likely, 5 Online will stick around for about 5 to 6 years, more if it remains profitable - which most people see it might anyway. TL:DR - Keep your character, but travel to either city in different files, but not one single game load.

This would definitely be a cool feature, almost the same as when you’re going from LS to Cayo. The only reason this may be difficult to do is file sizes. You’d prolly need both 5 and 6 online downloaded to do this which would probably be around 300gbs combined, which isn’t feasible for most people.

I’m gonna feel bad for Shawn and Ned I don’t want them to become irrelevant. Unless they both are able to have good careers when gta 5 fully phases out. Ned has been getting gigs and doing good but Shawn I’m not so sure. The update with him was good to see chop and Franklin being rich and good online. I wish Franklin and Michael had even small parts in 6. They were the most memorable and important characters in GTA yet. GTA 5 would not feel right without them their character set a certain tone. Franklin Michael and Lamar. I’m gonna have a hard time if they end up totally irrelevant cause I still check up on them and Ned is still playing gta and stuff. I just wish people wouldn’t fuck his shit up when he streams gta online cause it’s hard to have fun if you’re not super good and know how to deal with griefers. But he’s gets obliterated a lot.
