Fallout became a shit show after New Vegas, COD is essentially PTW at this point and seems mostly uninteresting after only banking on nostalgia and ruining zombies, Gran Turismo is only online and completely removed anything resembling an actual career mode, and Assasins Creed became very repetitive. No franchise has stood the test of time like GTA up until this point in my opinion

I think GTA6 will be the last Rockstar game with a good story. I _want_ to be proven wrong, but seeing what they're doing from removing crossdressing NPC's and voicelines making fun of them, to reportedly restructuring the company as to not make any jokes in their games that "punch down". The whole point of Grand Theft Auto was to put a serious storyline in a satirized world. Nobody was safe from ridicule. Black people, White people, Gay people, Straights, Christians, Atheists, Liberals, Conservatives, Skinny people, Fat people, etc etc. Everyone was made fun of and that's why we loved the game. In the words of an "immature" person, either all of it is okay or none of it is okay. They can't keep one group of people down while upholding another because then it'll piss everyone off. I'm not saying they HAVE to make fun of people who aren't exactly like me but I am saying that if they _are_ gonna make fun of people like me, then they need to make fun of everyone else to balance things out. I don't want to boot up the game and be preached about how Europeans are bad in the same way I don't want to boot up the game and be preached about how Africans are bad. What we're talking about is the writing in the radio shows, strangers and freaks missions, overarching themes, tone, and potentially what it chooses to satirize. old rockstar took shots at everyone the cholo's called everyone foo' and "uhh tal li dis an stuff mang" and the black guys in the ghetto "be all talkin like this and shi" and there were clear stereotypes which we might not see anymore, there's also stuff like billboards or radio adi's satirizing both the right and left wing politics where now we might see exclusively parody of the right and only parodying the left in a lighthearted way or potentially cherry picking and only making fun of particular parts of the left that they see as "not real leftism" I'm nervous to see what the overall tone aesthetics and atmosphere end up as, I'm particularly worried about the story being leaked as a bonnie and clyde style story which I don't think they'll approach with the proper nuance and I'm also worried they're gonna go the anti capatalism route and paint the protagonist as a hero or morally grey. Ultimately the only thing that will stop me buying it would be if the pay per hour bullshit gets implemented or it's a real travesty. Yeah but Dan was still in R* when RDR2 was released, he only left the company in 2020. Also you can still find articles on how there were many crunches turnaround during the lanch of RDR2, so I'm not surpised it did well. Lazlow, Michael also left R* in 2020, after RDR2 release. I've grew up with R* games more than any other games, and it's basically my childhood and as much as I'd love him to be incorrect, there was not a single thing he said that I disagree with.

I couldn't agree more with this. Nothing good lasts forever, and we've witnessed many developers go downhill after having successful games released to high praise. Rockstar will eventually go downhill, and the loss of these vital people will definitely be felt at some point. Greed will also eat away at the sterling reputation Rockstar has built throughout the past 20 plus years. Take 2 is already destroying their reputation with the NBA2K franchise becoming a microtransaction nightmare. The problem I see with Rockstar is they are just constantly trying to "raise the bar" on identikit games, over and over and over again. They haven't released anything truly "new" since about the Bully days. It's all been variations on RDR and GTA ever since. There comes a point where the bar can be raised no higher and everything becomes less impressive. Your developers get bored of doing the same thing over and over (this has already come up in some Rockstar Glassdoor reviews). Your player base gets bored. Rockstar will have to take a different tack at some point and try something new. After GTA VI, what next? We might see RDR3 in 2030? And then GTA 7 in 2035? Will these games be truly different, or will they just be blends of the older ones with better graphics stuck on top? They only got away with taking so long between releases because GTA Online has kept them afloat. Unfortunately, GTA Online has hamstrung them and has meant that all future GTA titles need to be set in the present day.

Aaron Garbut is the current head of development / co-studio head at Rockstar North, alongside Rob Nelson. Plus, they still have Rupert Humphries, head of narrative, as you already mentioned. Plus Sam Houser is still at the helm. I have zero doubts that GTA 6 is going to turn out 9.5/10 if not 10/10. Now beyond that? Only time will tell...

I personally don't think either Rob nelson, Rupert Humphreys or Aaron garbut are part of the development team of GTA 6. These people that your mentioning they also worked on red dead redemption 2 and red dead online for 8 yrs yk. They didnt just work on the next GTA game after GTA 5 they had another big project to work on. Don't u think they suffered burnout? I think that it's a completely new set of people that are working on GTA 6 and they aren't the ones that are well known to us. I don't think that the people that are working on GTA 6, and the people who are at rockstar now know what they are doing and are rookies when it comes to video game development as they outsourced the GTA definitive edition to a small company who has a bad track record of making ports and remasters for games, while they were working on GTA 6 and they didn't put GTA DE in the right hands. I could be wrong though maybe they will improve and learn the ways of the video game industry but will 2021 (when they released the definitive edition) to 2025 (when GTA 6 is purposed to release) be enough time to actually learn how the video game industry is and learn the trends? Who knows we will have to wait and see.

The reason why defective edition was developed by those grove Street pieces of shit because they've been having those thing for almost there entirety, they worked on the steam ports, SA PS3 atrocity and mobile ports under there previous name of war drum studios. Yes it took Rockstar 20 million sales and tons of death threats to realise grove street games aren't the right people to have these classics. GTA v got some chuckles out of me but rdr2 had me staying awake all night right after finishing the main story just thinking about how it ended. Rockstar has become too big to fail then it seems like. That’s the problem with making something that’s extremely lucrative like gta5. It leads to a loss of creative freedom and autonomy in pursuit of making something hollow enough to appeal to the biggest audience to make even more money. GTAs were full characters that marginalized people. For example Phil Casidy the drunkard southerner. In the re-release they removed the Confederate flag from his shirt. Now I dont care about that flag as a European but it was a corepart of his character. Phil wasn't glamorized as a character but like made fun of, a satire of a certain problem by showing an example. These kind of things will be gone because "it's offensive". Same amount of stupid showing a skinhead character and removing the Názi flag cause it's offensive. Like that was the whole point. These people exist whether some people like it or not. By not showing them because they are offensive, will nothing to stop them in real life. The only thing it does it creates a safe bubble, and you lose the satire, which was the core part of all GTAs. Rockstar is dead and some people in the comments just don't get it, saying things like "they don't miss". Yeah cause all of these 5 main people that left WERE THERE when they released their last big game RDR2 in 2018, in the last 5 years, they left. So anything that's under developement now they will see what their absence will "make" with the next game. This is not new, happened with Blizzard, all the devs left in the last 13 years. Rockstar's problem is that they're catering to these idiots that wanna play PvP shooter games and Rockstar has forgotten it's roots. They care more about 'How much can we make in microtransactions' instead of making a Singleplayer game that once was unstoppable. Look back to GTA San Andreas (2004 i think) the game was ahead of it's time with map , story , and all around activity's to do. There was no thought to steal money from peoples pockets , but rather make a game that kicked any games ass that even tried to be GTA. GTA 6 needs to be a Single Player Main focused game or it'll lose any remaining respect it has. the game is no nor ever was Fortnight , or Call of duty FPS battle royale. Rockstar has put more effort in GTA 5 Online than any project they've ever done and it was for the soul purpose to sell Shark Cards. A simple car is $500,000 - $1 million GTA dollars and that's not to mention the other things you can buy. Insane !!! Yes i know they're a business DUH ! but driving the price on something so high that it's unreachable without grinding for a month is to far.

GTA San Andreas blew me away with its enormous and varied map. Except when the Defective Edition shipped without the fog, you realised the map was always the size of a postage stamp. Rockstar just made it feel expansive by clever use of fog and other effects... and it was genius.

I have to say that I also read some of the news about Rockstar you quoted, and I have a similar feeling about the state of the studio and the fact that there are plenty of signs that this Is the end of an era. For this reasons, while everyone Is excited, I have no hype for GTA VI, just fear and a bit of hope to be proven wrong. That said, let's talk about the good things. One, we can only be surprised in positive if we have this attitude and are already disillusioned about the result. And, secondly... If this has to be the end, what an end It was. Red Dead Redemption 2 Is the masterpiece of Rockstar and Dan Houser, a passion project, aiming to build something that would be written in history of this medium, the last blaze of glory of a man and his team to never be forgotten. I'm deeply moved by the poetry of the parallels between real life events at Rockstar, and the story of Red Dead Redemption 2. A new age has come, and while It may seem kinder, maybe it's not all for the best. Some things, more visceral and chaotic, sure, but more genuine, are being lost by the axe of "progress", and a group of brave souls past their prime, will fight with every inch of their soul for what they believe. They will go down firing their gun until their last breath, leaving a mark on that world that's passing them by. And with Red Dead Redemption 2 Dan Houser, Dutch, Arthur and the boys surely did. They went out fighting. That's the way It Is.

I'm not excited about GTA VI. Also not excited about the future of the company, because it just feels like they're doing the same thing over, and over, and over. Their definition of "raising the bar" just seems to be huge maps and better graphics. After GTA VI, what next? RDR3 in 2030? What after that, GTA 7 in 2035? How different will these be to the previous games apart from graphics... ?? There comes a point where even your developers start to get bored and there are rumours of that already starting to seep out. What direction is the company actually taking? Is it time to properly revisit old IP like Bully (there was evidence of a cancelled Bully 2 stolen by the teapot hacker) or Midnight Club or a new IP entirely?

To put it simple, with the frat/boy's club environment disbanded along with the exit of the 5 guys that were the heart and soul of Rockstar there is no way Gta 6 will be a worthy follow up to Gta 5. The franchise has been the depiction of a man's world with women living in it for as long as I can remember. It seems that is no longer the case because Rockstar as a company has bent the knee and by doing so forced Gta 6 to be the first game in the franchise that conforms to the squares of society. If Gta 5 is a rebel without a cause, Gta 6 is going to be a reformed suit wearing business type who does not want to make waves. I have a feeling that Gta 6 is going to be so disappointing people will continue to play Gta 5 to protest.

the gta fanbase never fails to disappoint lol, or just the gaming community in general maturing is realizing that just because a game is being more serious and not relying on controversial ideas for relevancy anymore and having a female protagonist (oh the horror) doesn't mean it's "woke" now. if anything i feel like gta VI is going to be similar to how rdr2 handles these things.. not sure why people are surprised.. the people clenching, waving their fists and getting upset at this are probably the same type of people to call others "snowflakes" or something lmao gta VI is simply just toning down the edginess, it's really not that serious. i've seen so many people get mad about this and it's comical, especially when it was first revealed that a woman was going to be a main character
