Great electronics video. It seems every time I do a troubleshoot for a marine stereo issue, 90% of the time the stereo (or another component like the amp) needs replacing. I've installed and worked with every major brand of marine stereo over the last 30 years and none of them seem to last. The newer ones that are more compact and don't have a CD player, seem to do a bit better, including the Fusion brand.

Thank you and I agree. All the brands seem to be about the same for reliability. Might just be the environment that kills them or they all come from the same factory. Lol 😆

I almost bought a Milwaukee fan but I got a crazy deal on the Ryobi. I use all Milwaukee electric stuff. Snap-on for the hand tools. 😊

Hey I'm a Marine Mechanic Apprentice and I was wondering what are the most important/best tools to start with in the trade. I mostly work on yamaha jet boats and outboards as I'm at a certified Yamaha dealer. I'm actually in the middle of rigging a 55ft water taxi in Baltimore with twin 150s, replacing a waterpump on a mercrusier, and just started on an older johnson outboard lower unit swap and man the bolt holding shifter cable on that's tucked way into the powerhead is gonna be a bitch to get back in. but I love this job I've been doing it for about a year now and I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I would say good snap on hand tools help a lot and my favorite is the 1/4 swivel sockets that snap on has. They are a headache saver for sure. I use them almost everyday. I also like the Milwaukee 12 volt stuff. It's light and not too aggressive(won't snap bolts). Good question and thank you. 😊

Great vids as always. I was trying everything bc my Simrad was not displaying depth…turns out I had the unit “paused” in echo mode…unpaused it and tbd how it will work when it gets splashed!

Hi Justin, nice to see you dealing with what might be a couple of simple repairs. Any chance you can clone yourself and send your clone to RI? Two of the power steering pumps in my Boston Whaler 350 Realm just crapped out and my joystick is acting very wonky. Last summer a cam cover on one of the Verado 350's developed a crack and it took more than a month to get a new one delivered. Boats!

Hi Justin. I watched some of your videos about repairing The Optimus Seastar system. Having the same issues you posted about a couple years ago with my system…possibly the control panel. I’m In Gulfport close to Loggerhead and Tierra Verde . Any chance I could hire you to take a look?

Hello justin, did you know about the service bulletin from simrad, about the complaint of problems with the display go black, and restart. In europe, you can get a new one for free whitin a specified serieal nummer range. Grts johan

I have heard of this and have replaced a few because of it. They say to update it first and then test it again. I'm sure I will be replacing it soon. 😆

Justin, do you have any videos of your dealing with triple Mercury 300 Verado RPOs on a Whaler 350 Realm. Port motor stops running well and onboard computer reduces output of remaining motors thus incapacitating boat.
