Murray from touch the sea aquarium was a good family friend. Great memories fishing with him to stock the tanks and it was a very bad day when it was torched. We lost Murray recently but I will never forget him - one of the only happy birthday texts I would get without fail.

Murray was an old friend of mine too Simon. I gave him guitar lessons and I taught him what was the best guitar to use. We played together just for fun. I can still remember his big strong finger. Him and I also got the same cancer. Alot of men in particular got cancer in Mapua. Some believe it was related to the old FCC plant clean up. Murray was a good bloke and I have many fond memories of him.

great snapshot of your village and the people that live there Clay, some sadness when the inevitable change and development comes to town, hope changes don't detract from the attraction of being a quiet seaside village, so glade you have your little pocket of dirt to retreat to.

I visited the knife guys place was brilliant and I coffee in the place beside it is great, you should try it. Thanks for the video Clay. Have not been to Mapua in forty years. Hell its grown. In your video I caught a glimpse of the old ship Matipo from the Anchor Shipping and Foundry. Worked on her during Surveys in Nelson. After my apprenticeship at Anchor Shipping moved to Cobb River with the NZED. Great life and never really appreciated the place in my younger day. Just wondering if you knew the Sparrow family in Mapua. Worked with Dave Sparrow at Cobb River.

You might have known my dad John Ward. He worked on that boat. He was a marine engineer before he became the ranger at Totoranui in the early 70s. Yeah I knew Dave. That was all years ago now. Mapua has grown

Great tour of Mapua Clay! Lucky you didn't leave the "Bat Mobile" overnight, can you imagine the whitebait stink? Speaking of the "Bat Mobile", where did it come from? Borrowing or hiring while the ute gets fixed?

Several days ago I read a headline regarding hunters in New Zealand being a bit irate over some new laws passed or trying to be enforced affecting the population's personal firearms. So far you've yet to discuss what they have in store for the civilians there. Hope to hear something soon, as our new President is trying to erase or delete our 2nd amendment here.
@ClayTallStories3 жыл бұрын
I will keep you posted but so far everything is sweet. My daughter just got her fire arms license no problem so I am going to set her up for this winter. It's going to be awesome when she starts dropping me off some meat for a change.

@@ClayTallStories Too true Clay...I remember when she got hers and you were setting her up for some possum traps. No big talks about a mandatory gun "buy back" of all the owners-that is good news.

Owning guns not a problem in New Zealand chaps, just high power military automatic weapons and enormous magazines designed to mow down human beings, leaving them for the professional use only :-) Wonderful trip down memory lane, cheers Clay. Snook!! He hasn't changed a bit! Super.
