I had looked at Knukonceptz for my power & ground wires originally but wound up using welding cable. Much much cheaper and Made in the USA. For RCAs & speaker wire, I used Knukonceptz. I'm using the Krystal Kables RCAs. Absolutely love them. 👌

My old supervisor had a saying about wire length and it was plenty! You can always use short lengths on the cabinet interiors he’d say. It was true then and still remains so! Good video Mark and using the former video to reference wire and fuse sizing!👍🏻

I think where a lot of people tend to get confused is that they think they are protecting the amp, not the wire when in many cases you are protecting the wire to protect it from burning your car down. You also can't use to big of a fuse either, or it will literally be useless in a dead short situation

It would be nice to have a quick reference video or chart listing what size techflex, heat shrink, and ferrules for what size wire.

Not practical because insulation size and even actual wire diameter varies too widely with different manufacturers

I used a single 8 pin pcie plug to run my 200w infinity basslink. I Bought a pcie extension cable off of Amazon and cut it for $5. Very nice quick disconnect with positive, remote, and negative. The downside is that it takes careful soldering and heat shrinking and I wouldn't recommend without using lead solder. A larger amp would require more than one cable and probably terminal blocks instead of solder, because soldering large wires becomes impractical.

I'd like to add that adding a fuse is NOT to protect your system, it's to protect the wire. Your equipment has it's own fuses to protect it. If your wire shorts, it will no doubt pull more power than the wire can handle, no matter how fat your wire is (batteries can output hundreds of amps and will happily do so given a short) and it will heat up and cause a fire. A general rule of thumb is to use wire that can carry TWICE the amperage of the fuse you're using to protect it. So, if you're using 80 amp wire, use a 40A fuse. Fuses will normally not pop until they are taking ~150% of the rated current anyway, so a 40A fuse (usually) won't pop until around 60A of current. Just to recap, a fuse is to protect the WIRE and a good rule of thumb is to make sure the wire can carry TWICE the current than the fuse is rated.

I haven’t been able to find specific information on what all makes up a good cable. I’m looking at $200+ stinger signal (rca) cables but I do t know if it’s really worth it? I trust your knowledge. My Pioneer amplifier (1000 watt) manual says to use two 30 ampere fuses in parallel at the battery instead of one 60 ampere. There's only one power cable. Go figure. Anyway, I chose to use 2 AWG wire instead of 1/0 - I also used 2AWG for my "big 4" electrical upgrade instead of 1/0 (along with an alternator upgrade). There's only a 0.1 VDC voltage drop in the power wiring to the amplifier so I'm good. Installers should consider using the Blue Sea Systems 2151 Dual MRBF Terminal Fuse Block and their fuse(s) at the battery instead of the inline fuse holder - no pigtail required. That's what I used for my Mustang install but I don't know if that's doable on my Nissan Xterra because of that weird fuse block assembly directly mounted to the battery terminal. If I remember, I'll report back when I get the chance to do the Xterra - the cost of doing this stuff is slowing me down.

Fusing and wire gauge: Read amp owners manual, its not an arbitrary thing. Also read a table about maximum amperage and wire length. If 4 gauge was specced and you put 0 gauge that was massive overkill and a waste.

There may not be a break in current, but is it not true that the more you break the current the more it will weaken(within the same amperage)? For instance, would it not be better to have a a solid connection for each component rather than a distribution block to each?

Dont connect the remote turn on wire to the antenne wire coming out of the radio. If you do the amp will only turn on when the FM/AM radio select is on. Just connect it to the key turn on wire which you can just connect to whatever power wire is non constent usually the red wire. Or just use a manual switch.
