Here is a list of the main estrogens present in human females: 1. Estradiol (E2): The most potent and prevalent estrogen, produced by the ovaries and adipose tissue. 2. Estrone (E1): Produced by the ovaries, adipose tissue, and placenta during pregnancy. 3. Estriol (E3): Produced by the placenta during pregnancy and in small amounts by the ovaries. 4. Estetrol (E4): Produced by the liver and kidneys, and in small amounts by the ovaries. Other estrogens present in smaller amounts include: 1. 2-Hydroxyestrone (2-OHE1) 2. 4-Hydroxyestrone (4-OHE1) 3. 2-Hydroxyestradiol (2-OHE2) 4. 4-Hydroxyestradiol (4-OHE2) 5. 16α-Hydroxyestrone (16α-OHE1) 6. 16β-Hydroxyestrone (16β-OHE1) 7. 17-Epiestriol (17-epi-E3) Note: The levels and types of estrogens can vary throughout the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause.

Progesterone (P4): The most abundant and well-known progesterone, produced by the ovaries, placenta, and adrenal glands. 2. 16α-Hydroxyprogesterone (16α-OH P4): A metabolite of progesterone, produced by the liver and kidneys. 3. 17α-Hydroxyprogesterone (17α-OH P4): A precursor to cortisol and estrogen, produced by the adrenal glands and ovaries. 4. 20α-Dihydroprogesterone (20α-DHP): A metabolite of progesterone, produced by the liver and kidneys. 5. 5α-Dihydroprogesterone (5α-DHP): A potent inhibitor of the enzyme 3β-HSD, produced by the liver and kidneys. 6. 5β-Dihydroprogesterone (5β-DHP): A less potent inhibitor of 3β-HSD, produced by the liver and kidneys. 7. Allopregnanolone (3α,5α-tetrahydroprogesterone): A neurosteroid with sedative and anxiolytic properties, produced by the brain and adrenal glands. 8. Pregnanolone (3β,5β-tetrahydroprogesterone): A neurosteroid with sedative and anxiolytic properties, produced by the brain and adrenal glands. My deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. I do have a question about estrogen. I am 62 years old and post menopausal. I am currently starting HRT with testosterone progesterone and DHEA. For some reason whenever I take estrogen or estradiol it makes my ovaries super sensitive and I feel like I am having major PMS cramps even though I haven’t had a period in over 25 years. my uterus is very tender so much so that when I sit down, I have to sit down gently because it’s very painful. My naturopath doctor cannot figure out why I would be so sensitive to estrogen. Do you have any thoughts on maybe why estrogen doesn’t agree with me?is that a normal thing and post menopausal women. I have also been diagnosed with osteoporosis and I have a DEXA scan every year and this year it’s the worst.

I've read that we need to eat 100+ grams of protein a day because we aren't "absorbing" the nutrients when one is older 50+. Is this true? After starting enzymes I gained weight, just 5 pounds, but still (I tend to run thin). I must be absorbing more nutrients therefore more protein. Also, eating a high protein diet is expensive these days, even with protein drinks (Whey protein).
