I worked at my university library. There were countless publications written on ww3 type scenarios hidden amongst other books. They were all from the 70s and 80s. I remember one that gave a description with a timeline of events of what would happen after a shooting match had begun. It described survivors fleeing from city centers and described them as "zombies" because many would be suffering from severe burns and would be emotionally shocked that they wouldn't be behaving rationally. And that those fleeing from the devastation would be as big of a problem for the country as the soviet union. There was lots of conjecture and nothing that a script writer from Hollywood couldn't come up with. It was a time the government threw money at anyone with any credentials to help stay ahead during the cold War. Very interesting stuff.

I think the only reason my uni library had them was because they had the room and left them to fill out shelf space until newer titles were bought or donated.

Don't be worried, I'm certain the only reason it's been made is because that's everyone's fear right now with these heightened tensions thanks to Russia invading Ukraine. It's literally just made for views since everyone is so worried. But Infograph is right, there is too much to lose on both sides. Even if you won the war, what happens next? An while the world has no true world leaders, and most are absolutely monkeys, they at least understand war = bad for them too. While it CAN absolutely happen, I think it'd just require something bigger. Russia has already invaded Ukraine before and took the Crimea, and nothing happened. As things stand CURRENTLY I wouldn't worry too much. However, if Russia invading Ukraine empowered other countries to strike their own individual targets discussed in the video for example; Iran with Saudi Arabia or China with Taiwan, then maybe that's something to worry about.

I’m even skeptical of the ability to severely limit food supplies with nuclear war. If you’ve ever driven across North America, you’d see that even 100,000 Nagasakis aren’t going to get rid of that farmland. We’d need to reduce meat consumption since most of our grain goes to feed animals, but I think more than half of humanity would still make it through. Probably 1-2 billion casualties and another billion would starve or die from fallout. Still awful but not the end of the world. We give ourselves too much credit.

This channel always has the "but you shouldn't worry too much" message about every negative thing they cover. It was one reason I only decided to watch their channel in the last couple of years, because part of their shtick is to comfort people about everything. A nuclear war is the one thing we should actually be only worried about. I've been learning about this for a while. There is no comforting message with this one. Besides think about what you just said. A few hundred million people around. From 7 something billion. That's the end of the world. That small population isn't gonna figure out how to manipulate and survive in a world after a nuclear war. They'd be waiting to die.

There are a few aspects this video doesn't address: In the aftermath of a nuclear war, what capabilities would humanity have to communicate with our satellites? And if the capability was severely diminished what impact would that have on the lives of the survivors? Would power plants be operational? Would there even be people to maintain them and stop nuclear power plants from melting down? And what about dams? If dams around the world were to burst there is potential for massive loss of life.

If there were no people left with the knowledge of how to operate a nuclear power plant, the plants are equipped with safety measures that would drop carbon rods into the nuclear material, stopping the reaction, averting a meltdown situation. That's IF the plant was not hit with a warhead. Which it likely will be. So, yeah, it'd be Chernobyl plus a few points. There would be no need to communicate with satellites. So, the fact that there would likely be no method left in tact to communicate with them is not as worrisome. From then on, they are space relics.....any survivors of the exchange would likely not be caring about the state of any satellites.....they'll have MUCH bigger problems to deal with .

Wow.. I just had my first child in September 2021 and I was anxious about her future and stressed about keeping her safe, but I eventually came to the conclusion that the world might get worse in several ways (wars, natural disasters, corruption) but not so bad that her life would be in extreme danger and I relaxed a little. But after listening to this I realized I never considered nuclear war. Or at least refused to accept that it was a possibility. And after hearing about the conflict in the Ukraine and the tension between China and the USA I'm sick to my stomach. If I had known or considered these consequences I don't think I would have had her. I love her to death but I don't want her to suffer the most horrible things the world has to offer. I was unwise to not have thought of these things before I had her. I pray to God that I will be able to raise her appropriately and prepare her adequately for this world.

@@Eayodeji well our policy is to use a nuclear device in the event of a chemical, biological, or nuclear attack on our people and we would respond with as "little force as possible". Knowing that in conjunction with with the number of ICBMs in the world ,US in the thousands range and Russia in the 100 thousand range, 10 going off at the same time doesn't seem so unlikely. But to answer your question we would still experience some form of nuclear winter because the same concept applies to our atmosphere being blown out. The first thing you need to do around any blast area is stay inside until the fallout settles. Then get as far from the blast zone and fallout as possible. In that instance you would want to cover yourself in a non pouris material that you can wash off without getting any water or dirt on you. A gas mask would be there best thing to protect yourself from breathing in the fallout (radioactive dust). My personal favorite thing to have is potassium iodine. It blocks your thyroid from absorbing the radiation. If you decide to buy this make sure you buy the individually wrapped pills as it reacts with oxygen and becomes useless over time.

It has been a little over a week, let's sum up what has already been disproven/changed in that time, just to point out how insane the last week has been: 1. a Russo-Nato conflict seems mutch more likely to start WW3 than a chino-American conflict. 2. war seems to increase sanctions towards Russia not the other way around 3. American attention has been pulled back to the European theatre not the pacific one 4. Russian military power is apparently less than originally imagined 5. Germany is rearming itself with a budget large enough to become a intervantalist force 6. A European army, capable of intervention is also no longer outside the realm of possibility 7. Nuclear warfare seems mutch more likely to become a reality, tough the possibility of limited nuclear war is now also somehow a possibility. To name but a few, very interesting to see how things can change so incredibly fast, by looking at a video only a order of days old and seeing how mutch of it would already be different now....

I asked my brother who has knowledge of military equipment and war, with the question of what would happen if there was a world war 3? My brother responded with this “A chance of a world war 3 isn’t likely but countries who would start a war would be nations like china.
