I think it is wise to explain to people from Britain and abroad, who know little about the British Monarchy, exactly what the process and the Line of Succession really is. There has been a lot of misinformation on the internet and this has confused people. I agree. I’ve seen some people comment that this is in poor taste, but I don’t think it’s wrong to explain what would happen and explore the hypothetical. From what I gather from this video, Charles may not abdicate not just because of his sense of duty, but it sounds like abdicating just sounds like a pain in the neck for him and everybody else. Not worth jumping through all those hoops. Not to mention William has been on record saying he wants to give George as normal a childhood as possible. I’m sure Charles wouldn’t want to dump the responsibilities that come with being Prince of Wales onto him so young.

Once crowned a British monarch cannot abdicate. They remain as monarch until they die. This is because the monarch is anointed at their coronation. They cannot be unanointed. If a monarch is seriously ill, a prince regent is appointed until such time as the monarch recovers or dies.
