Meat (including fish) ready for consumption has a way higher amount of carcinogens then any other possible product. Easier said is that the chances for a meat consumer to obtain cancer in the future are higher. Meat is also often flavored with extra sugars fats and salts which are also bad for human health in high amounts.

Although I'm not vegan/vegetarian, I strongly support vegetarianism. And I try to consume as less meat as possible. Probably, I'll be a vegetarian at least in future. This is high time we should think about our planet. In many ways we are creating disturbance to the nature. We can't let this planet die like this. Mother earth doesn't need us, rather we need her to survive.

Beta Orionis did u watch the whole video properly? If not then watch it again as this just states the benefits but if u watch it properly it shows we grow to much feed for cattles and so much water is used up in growing a single cattle. If u try and understand that it means that u literally have to stop cattle fields and do not farm cattles which in turns harms the enviroment more than now

Considering that it won’t happen just in a moment, it makes great sense to start being vegetarian. Economy won’t suffer if it all comes gradually.
@lilaclizard4504

economy wouldn't suffer? Tell me, what would happen to Australia? Australia would have to chop down every bit of native forest to grow enough food just to feed it's own population & it would loose billions of dollars a year in meat exports & become third world! Only 8% of Australia has the ability to grow crops (and that's only 1 crop per year), 70% of the country is currently used for meat production. What do you think is going to happen to that land? & that's only just below average. worldwide, the average is only 10% of a country's land can grow crops, while 37% is used for agriculture, due to animals needing far less water than crops do

Wormhole Traveler, I don't see why you'd want to find an alternative. In Australia bird watchers travel from International locations to visit cattle stations because of the Internationally listed wetlands located in the middle of land that's been cattle stations for over 100 years. Studies on the Simpson Desert show no reduction in wildlife numbers, including endangered ones, in areas grazed by cattle compared to ungrazed areas. Wildlife in many locations is more abundant on cattle stations than on national parks next door to them, due to the ideal conditions managed grazing land provides for so many native species. Meanwhile over 20 billion mice were killed this year in the production of crops, v only 9 million cows. Around 100 million wild pigs per year are cruelly killed with poisons to protect crops, kangaroos are dropping like flies from starvation across the entire east coast, with almost all killing restrictions being removed in the hope of giving them a humane death & killing basically as many as possible now since they're walking dead anyway & killing now might hopefully save some of the endangered species they're eating ALL food for, all of which could have been completely prevented with proper cull management since this last occurred in 2002, when 18 million (1/3rd of the entire population) starved to death & then there's the erosion from crop farming v soil building with cattle grazing. There's SO many reasons why livestock is less harmful than crops it's not funny! Anyone who genuinely cares about reducing animal deaths, animal cruelty & environmental damage should be pushing for more livestock & less crops! (and even better, eating feral animals like pigs & returning to Aboriginal style kangaroo management as well to prevent these destructive "boom & bust" cycles. If we don't fix that, kangaroos will be going the way of the Tasmanian tiger & Tasmanian devil - so much loss of genetic diversity through constant population bottlenecks, that their extinction will become inevitable :'( I refuse to support that! I want them alive & healthy long term! That's why I eat them

Roberto Luna In a more realistic scenario, the percentage of vegetarians/vegans would gradually increase, demand for animal products would slowly decrease which means that fewer people will become ranchers - if the world gradually becomes vegan over like 100 years or more, no current ranchers would have to switch at all. But even if that transition would only take like 20 years - around 1% of employees in developed countries are employed in the agricultural sector and most of them would still be needed in a vegan world. At the same time, the transportation sector accounts for 2-3% of all employees which means that the impact of autonomous cars will be far greater alone, not to mention other aspects of automation that we might not even see coming at this point. Arguably, the positive effects on environmental issues (deforestation for animal feed and grazing land -> greenhouse gas emissions, species extinction, excessive use of pesticides for animal feed, overfertilization -> ocean deadzones,...) would outweigh a minor shift in our economy by far. Another problem are the horrendous conditions in factory farms that even impact the effectiveness of antibiotics.
@subjectnamehere3023
@subjectnamehere3023 6 жыл бұрын
Phytom the total demand for plant foods would decrease because we wouldn't waste so much grain, corn and soy as animal feed. But it isn't much of a problem in the first place.

What most people don't realise is that if we stop eating meat we have to produce more plant based foods which will make them the leading green house gas producers....
@Balder94
@Balder94 6 жыл бұрын
@The Lord Have you considered watching the video before commenting ? Plant based foods produce 5 times less CO2 than meat per kg. And 1kg of meat actually uses several (up to 10) kg of plantbased foods in cattel feed. SO. No, it would decrease the amount of plant based foods and drastically and output significantly less CO2. So flying planes would become the leading green house gas producer :)
@thelord5895
@thelord5895 6 жыл бұрын
Balder Again you avoid the point. Let me make it simple. 1.) The number of live animals will increase as we are not allowed to prevent a species from reproducing or to control its population through slaughter without gain. 2.)Plant based foods are dependent on climate. Therefore he has not factored in the additional production of green house gases via transport. 3.) He also didn't include the large numbers of chemicals requiered to sustain crops, which also produce green house gases in their production. (*This is the major point most people miss*) 4.) Cars produce more greenhouse gases than planes :)

Dogs can be plant based - I feed my three dogs a home cooked plant based diet mixed with V-dog kibbles. They are very active, happy and healthy. Dogs need protein - not meat. why are you slaughtering farm animals to feed a rescue dog. home cooked plant based meals are far superior to commercial kibbles filled with toxins, preservatives, lack nutrition due to the cooking process. its animal abuse to feed your dogs commercial kibbles filled with disgusting ingredients 50% of the dogs suffer from obesity, diabetes, arthritis, cancer - these are all caused by a poor diet - so how can anyone still think that commercial dog food can be healthy for dogs

@@ito_tofu5324 I have qualification's in pet nutrition. I know all about commercial foods etc... infact I raw feed all my pets and give them whole pray (with the fur in it's a natural de wormer and many other benifits) and they are all in perfect health and their skin and coats are fantastic. I'm sorry but cats and dogs are carnavors they need to eat meat. If you let your dog out in the wild whats he going to eat? He would naturally hunt for meat! If you dont want your pet to eat meat then get a rabbit or Guinea pig. DO NOT let your pet suffer because of you're life style choices
@ito_tofu5324
@ito_tofu5324 5 жыл бұрын
Cleo Price I agree that cats are obligate carnivores but not dogs. If I release all my dogs into the wild, they would not survive - the problem with the “natural” argument is that we have domesticated dogs and thats already unnatural - they have adapted to an omnivorous diet and they are scavengers- they can thrive on a plant based diet. they dont need meat, they need protein - as long as you give dogs protein, they will thrive. I also use a food processor to grind up their food to aide digestion. They have been eating plants for 2 years now and they are incredibly healthy. would you feed them plant based food over commercial dogfood?

There's no way everybody would give up meat. No matter how beneficial it would be for the environment. With that said, I read that scientist have successfully grown a steak in a lab through stem cells that proved to be healthier than a traditional steak, taste the same too. What if in the distant future, everybody had stem cell growing machines in our homes? And greenhouses in our backyards? With no need for massive amounts of farms, imagine all that land going back to nature? It's a future i'd like to see :)

Test tube meat is probably the only hope we have for the immediate future as far as animal welfare and agricultural demands go. There's a lot of money being invested into this, even by big meat producers like Smithfield. It's going to take a while for them to bring the cost down, though, as it's just too expensive to make right now. Plus, they still have to work out some kinks on the texture because they have some problems reproducing the feel of regular meat. Something about the tendons or muscles. But I look forward to seeing lab grown meat in supermarkets within my lifetime.

more ethical to switch the chicken/eggs/milk for insect flours than to stop all animal product eating :) If you have a house, see if you can get your parents to let you get a pet chicken too for ethical eggs instead of giving them up :) You can even adopt a "spent hen" (a former caged chicken) if you want to be REALLY ethical about it

I'm not against eating meat. Im against industrial farming. I believe we should hunt for any meat that we eat & to moderate the amount of meat that we eat. Not every meal needs to have meat in it. You don't even need it every day. I personally eat meat about 2-3 times a week & it's working well for me but that is just my own experience. Don't change your diet because of something you read on the internet. Consult your doctor about what you should and shouldn't eat.

Not so simple In any case, even if plant-based diets can in theory provide the nutrients people need, as long as they are supplemented with critical micronutrients (such as vitamin B12 and certain long-chain fatty acids), that is not to say that in practice shifting people towards them will not result in a great many people following poorly balanced diets and suffering ill health in consequence. And when a vegan diet fails, for instance due to poor supplementation, it may result in serious physical and cognitive impairment and failure to thrive. The approach seems particularly risky during pregnancy and for the very young, as also documented by a long list of clinical case reports in medical literature. Animal products are exceptionally nutrient-dense dietary sources - removing them from the diet compromises metabolic robustness. Without sufficient insight in the complexities of nutrition and human metabolism, it is easy to overlook important issues as the proportion of nutrients that can be absorbed from the diet, nutrient interactions and protein quality. The same debate needs to be had when it comes to consideration of the environmental question. Too fast or radical a shift towards “plant-based” diets risks losing realistic and achievable goals, such as increasing the benefits of natural grazing and embracing farming techniques that reduce the wasteful feeding of crops to animals, lower climate impact and enhance biodoversity. A shift towards a radically plant-based planetary diet loses the many benefits of livestock - including its deployment on land that is not suitable for crop production, its contribution to livelihoods, and the many other benefits that animals provide. It mistakenly assumes that land use can be swiftly altered and ignores the potential of farming techniques that may even have mitigating effects. Sustainable, ecological and harmonious animal production really should be part of the solution of the “world food problem”, considered from both the nutritional and environmental scenarios. The Earth is an extraordinarily complex ecosystem - any one-size-fits-all solution risks wreaking havoc with it.

Not all people can eat everything unfortunately, that’s what many vegans forget. Many have severe IBS, crohns and have gluten intolerance too. Me for example my IBS is bad I can’t eat soybeans, lentils, chickpeas or beans, I can’t eat wheat, garlic, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, apples, pears, some nuts and so much more. I would have deficiency of something if I went vegan. I really wish I could eat everything above, would have made my decision to stop eating meat so much easier.

I was born an indian carni :v I've been trying hard to go vegetarian because of ethical and religious reasons though As for environmental reasons, we might face new set of problems if everyone went vegetarian.. so that's not the reason i'm going vegetarian, fertility of soil will be decreased, we'll be using up EVEN MORE land for plant agriculture.. while one animal can feed an entire family it takes several crops of feed that family I'll have to take supplements if I went vegan, so that's not that much of a health benefit.. going vegetarian is okay for me If you i'd really have to change things for environmental reasons, I'd start off with switching to clean energy I can't go vegan.. too extreme for me.. i'm trying to give up eggs and all types of meat n fish.. I only consume dairy and honey as animal products these days I was actually a meat lover😅 but I'm trying hard and have been eating only vegetarian foods since 6-7 months

Youngster consume meat every day but as they grow up the amount of meat they eat keep on decreasing. I have personally experienced. And when they get old meat consumption almost stops. I don't think it's special occasions anymore. As people have started doing better for themselves, they've started consuming more meat. And sadly, a lot of my Indian friends fell into the myth that you need to a lot of chicken to build muscle which is simply not true. That's why they say that meat consumption in the world is going to increase dramatically as people in countries like India start adopting a lifestyle similar to Americans who consume meat with almost every meal
@Heliocanix

I think another solution is Lab Grown Meat, which is a field of research currently underway. It's basically growing the muscle structures from stem cells without the actual animal. So it's real meat, the exact same cells as you eat now, but healthier and with less pollution (?) and cruelty. ?: depends on how the meat is produced obv but im sure its better than tons upon tons of cowfarts.

Cows and other farm animals will still need food to live, plus in India traditional dairy farms arent cruel as US. Dairy is a part of Indian culture and without it expect a lot of people to starve to death, coz not everyone can afford Vegan supplements and products (prices of which will rise a lot due to increased demand) I mean Onion Prices itself rose 5x here before just because some batches got destroyed in storms.

I think that balance is key and extremes don't work. Instead of being vegan we could treat our animals for eating better, eat a fraction of them, and eat more plant foods. We are all so different and a diet for one person won't work for everyone else. In addition I don't think humans realize just how alive plants are and dismiss the fact we kill and eat them. Plants communicate with other plants and insects, they sense when they are being harmed and release signals for help, they breathe, they drink, they move away from negative stimuli and much more. In my opinion we should not look at the human race as so much different and instead treat all of our food sources with love and respect. When we eat them be thankful for what we eat and don't over consume. Life is about balance and not extremes. 😄 Happy New year

don't get conned by feed conversion ratios. Chickens might only need 1.6kgs of food to produce 1kg of meat, but that 1.6kgs of food is food we could have eaten. A cow might need 6kgs of food to produce 1kg of meat, but their food is grass that we can't eat & consequently, when managed properly, it's generally a better option than the chickens. Insects are better still, they need 1kg of food to produce 1kg of "meat" & they can eat the same food as the cows to achieve that, but if you're not going to eat insects, consider the advantages of a rumen (cows, sheep etc) for fermenting crop waste & grass into usable energy. Look up "holistic grazing" to learn the environmental benefits of properly managed cows etc too & yes, definitely buy local & ethical & buy from local hunters too, killing animals like feral pigs with shooting instead of poisoning for crop protection. Chickens make awesome pets too & give eggs while doing so

One factor you seem to have forgotten is that lots of live stock live on lands that are not suitable for plant growing. Also I must counter the foot point, on where yes slots of plant and vegetable matter goes to live stock, it is often Parts of the plant that we ourselves could not eat. Such as the actual leaves from a corn plant or the the majority of wheat plant (as we can only eat about 2 percent or less, depending on the type of wheat.) Farmers are also trying to find ways to not use so much feed anyway. Farmers have started doing research into using the wheat by-products from brewers as feed. As it is highly nutriocius and would be thrown away otherwise

I usually like this videos but this one (no offense) very stupid. By stoping meat consumption doesn't mean the water and vegetables are gonna automatically be redistributed globally, the countries that produce most of the meat will only now have way more vegetables that what they can't consume that doesn't mean that food will go to countries where food is needed. The water distribution also won't be magically moved by nature to reallocate the consumption. And last how the hell are we gonna feed the animals to produce Milk and Eggs if the food to feed them is gonna be "distributed" to help with hunger in the world. Again I'm sorry if I'm being offensive but I think this is not an easy matter. I don't see how people are gonna survive winter in the North countries living on soy beans, there won't be enough soy beans in Asia to solve the problem.
