I grow pollenless branching sunflowers in my small space. They usually put out quite a few flowers on each plant and they come in a few different colors. I feel like they are way less work than a regular sunflower.

I am assuming they are annual. How close do you plant them to each other and how many usable flower stems per plant do you think you get? That is something I have wondered about.

@@EvelynM-vlogs They are annual. I can squeeze 5 in a 4x4 raised bed and get maybe 6-10 stems from each one. I also have been known to squeeze in plants that need a little shade underneath them. I have to make the most of the little space I have.

@@stacyl283 Thanks so much for the data. I did the math and that works out to aprox. an average of 40 stems in a 4x4 space verses Procut single stems which are aprox. 100 stems in the same space. So single stems are better for a tiny urban flower farms like mine, BUT if I had more space, the reduced labour would make the branching sunflowers well worth the switch. Thanks again for this, I really appreciate it. 🌻🌻🌻

Please tell me about that circular tunnel-like painting??
@EvelynM-vlogsКүн бұрын
Absolutely, it is done by a very good artist friend of mine by the name of Heather Hughson. In the centre of the tunnel is the view from her balcony when she lived about a block away from me. She moved to England last year so it is no longer her view. She has done a series of these and I will send Heather an email asking her to comment on this thread to add anything about this series. Opposite time zone now, so it might take a while for her to see my email.

Hello! Heather here. I have always been fascinated by kaleidoscopes as a child. I have one that has a prism in the end that mixes up the image of everything you point it at. That got me thinking about wine glasses. I picked up a stemless wine glass and was thrilled to see the images created. This painting was done from my balcony in Campbell River. I am glad you like it. ❤

I believe there are a few perennial sunflowers. Are any of them bouquet worthy?
@EvelynM-vlogsКүн бұрын
@@alicemcilroy8805 hi, they would have to be pollenless for me to use them. I don't personally know of any perrenial suns that are pollenless. Thanks for commenting 🙂

I bought helianthus decapetalus 'happy days' to try out. Serena from 'can't eat the grass' is always talking positive about it.

@@Daisy-Hey-Hello Hi, I did a quick google search and I can't find anything that says it is pollenless - in fact, according to google, there are no pollenless perrenial sunflowers.. If you remember, let me know if google is wrong, it does happen - that would be awesome.
