Happened to me too around his age, because I was bullied and took it out on others which was wrong, by 14 years I was strong after training due to being bullied so when other bullies came and tried to hassle me I told them this same thing. That I was a bully too, and it doesn't lead anywhere, most of them understood once I talked to them enough, sorry for rough English

As an older teen this is particularly why I believe kids are just better than adults. They have more empathy than most I know of. I am not sure if it is attributed by relatability. Because for adults it's harder for them to recall of a time when they were younger nor in same situation. Doesn't really help the fact it is exacerbated with biases of knowledge. E.G: You as an example can't criticize people without resorting to slurs or cusses... I know you want to learn this skill which is great, but it is kind of disappointing of having to deal with adults with little to no decorum nor civility.

When I was a kid I was bullied for being autistic, though I didn't know I was until I was in my 20's. Kids were nice to the "special needs" kids because they knew bullying them was wrong. But when they know you're different, and don't know why, all bets are off. If little tiny me were in this scenario I'd probably say "You're going to let an insult THAT uncreative get to you?" I'd never let an insult get to me unless there was genuine effort put into it, because if I cried every time someone called me weird I'd have been sobbing all through kindergarten to senior year.

I wasn’t really bullied but I do remember when I was 5, I was sitting at a table with 2 boys and 1 other girl. All of a sudden, the girl made fun of me for no reason and one of the guys followed her. I don’t remember my reaction but I remember the other boy, his name was Derek Lopez, stood up for me and told them to stop being mean. I actually didn’t recall this member until I got older. And this memory has stuck with me. Derek left the school in 2nd grade and I never saw him again. I tried looking for him online just a few months ago but wasn’t able to find him. It’s been 25+ years now but I still remember how kind he was and wanted to let him know since I never did before.
