Out of context, and clip organized, (how progressive). Was she saying the borders should be open to the barefoot primitive barbarians that she often rejected? in 1972, she could not have perceived the invasion of barefoot barbarians that has been allowed to demographically change all of Western culture in the last decade. She died in 1982, and can not defend herself from progressive communists who use her name. Go to hell where you belong. I am going to Mises. The likes of you have not fully saturated that institution of freedom yet. Yes, I know you will delete this comment.

What’s the point of having legal process to get in if you’re not going to enforce it. Beyond that. All these people who got in should atleast be CHECKED. And people should be checked before they get in. Are you a criminal evading justice? Are you sick? That’s even without addressing the GROSS incentive system of the welfare state that attracts parasites versus people who actually want self responsibility without this help. I’d atleast check the people already here. Let the good ones stay. And stop new ones from skipping the process
@Biologist1968114 күн бұрын
If you had a legal process that was actually an option, you wouldn't have illegal immigration. Anyone who says that "they should just come here legally" is either disingenuous or misinformed. You say "stop new ones from skipping the process" like these immigrants WANT to come here illegally. Right now, the wait time for f-4 visas (siblings of US citizens) from Mexico is more than 100 years and growing. Although this is misleading because in reality so many people will die before they get their turn that it knocks ~25 years off. So even relatives of US citizens don't really have an option to come here legally, and non-family visas go to the end of the line. Fix the immigration process and you fix illegal immigration.

"What’s the point of having legal process to get in if you’re not going to enforce it." These people won't consider the initial crime. They would support a bank robber keeping the money they stole because they were poor.

@@EarthSurferUSA that's just a horrible comparison. Bank robbers violate the rights of others. Immigrants don't violate anyone's individual rights. In fact, they're just exercising their rights. Not in any way the same.

Isn't it the Confiscation State that sustains the Welfare State and the Welfare State is quite the attraction? The immigration discussion is just yet another symptom of diminishing "freedoms." Freedom from what? The Welfare State. Addressing the Confiscation State seems more important.
@EarthSurferUSA12 күн бұрын
You are right sir. I have not listened to it yet, but I figured it would be a argument about immigration, and not compared well to the early immigration into "The Land of Opportunity", before we had a welfare state. I guess, with our production that was created by free people sent to communism in china (for the most part), we are the most free as the producers left,---when we support the welfare of others. Yes, the Ayn Rand institute was also taken over by progressive thinkers, just like any institute of influence in the USA. IMO, the Mises organization, is the last voice for individual liberty left in the world, but I see they have some progressive thinking writers also. Now, I will listen to this as long as I can stand, telling me how free we are by paying for the existence of others. I am quite sure, Ayn Rand would not support this institute. I may have spouted off too so before I listened to this,---but I will know if I did, probably within 5 min of the vid. I can't be talked into redistribution as a moral way to live. Doug in Michigan
@EarthSurferUSA12 күн бұрын
To ask the question "How are you going to do it?" is a trick. For example, I am one of the most talented machinists left in the nation. When I get a blueprint of a complicated part to make with several processes that I have to develop, I don't know exactly how I am going to do it, but I know how to get started. It is complicated, and that question is not answerable when you are just getting started, but I always get the job done. Now, if you realize for these folks at this lost institute, that every communist in the world agrees with them, then it should be a crime to associate Ayn Rand with this institute. If she were alive today, she would tear these people up, and not be associated with the institute.

The point about mass deportations not being the exclusive means to enforce immigration laws and applying the principle of banning cruel punishment to mass deportations was insightful and is unfortunately missed among many people justifying mass deportations even in the name of the rule of law.

If Ben and Agustina don't think the criminal law applies to illegal immigrants (who, by definition, have broken the law of the land), what do they think ought to happen to, say, those who defy and ignore tax laws? Here's a thing: many on the crazier shores of the Left are okay with those who defy citizenship laws and borders, but tend to be angry about tax evaders. On the right, it tends to be the other way around. What is ARI's stance on those who evade taxes, and do so consciously?
@EarthSurferUSA12 күн бұрын
What makes you think the theft of the money you earned is moral just because a government stole it? When my great grand parents moved to the "Land of Opportunity", we did not have a welfare system to pay their way. We did not have a federal income tax system. Theft,---is theft, no matter who does it, and enforced against our will with guns. I will bet you that the people who cry about tax evaders,---are either people who live off our taxes, or think it is fair that we all pay income taxes. For the people who think income taxes are justified, (not properly ratified), it would be like their home and a neighbors home got robbed, and they are mad because more was taken from their home than their neighbors home,-----------------as if there is fairness in theft.

This one is interesting. I think a lot of pro immigrant groups are against borders, that reads to me that they’re for freedom of movement and enterprise. So if there is a productive being caught up in the storm it would be an act agains freedom. I recognize that they tried to influence future elections, and many new migrants have committed crimes. The attention on this issue is what I hope will jolt congress into action. Happy to discuss!
