Psychologists call this the bystander effect, it's very simple to understand, very complicated to watch. As the son of two police officers I was taught to react quickly in situations like this but it wasn't an immediate response, it took years of reinforcement from an early age, and in any dangerous situation that primal fear is still there. I understand a lot of these people, this is why "What Would You Do?" is a show with a genius premise.

sometimes I would feel bad for telling on people but doing the right things is def RIGHT! you dont need to be good with people just do the right thing!!! (have to be honest some people would hate you but you dont serve them you serve GOD) Love this show!

What seperates do gooders from silent watchers is the strong sense of a moral code. They want social justice for the things that should not happen and should never be dismissed.

i need to correct myself here. it's more to do with diffusion of responsibility and the bystander effect than the fight or flight response; the more people witnessing the event the less responsibility each individual feels they have and the stronger the feeling that someone else with do something. check out the case study of Kitty Genovese

@1appless i know how you feel, like especially cuz my clothes n stuff get stolen alot from my so called friends, and they had the nerve to wear it in front of me. gets me so mad. and what makes it worse is that i used to get in trouble in school for "tattle tellin" while people get praised cuz they don't "snitch". i just think that alot of people dese days have too much to hide and appreciate their secrets bein kept. damn cowards.
