I agree, Believing that God will answer our prayer is not a spell that we place on God so He must give us what we want. The context of the promise of prayer is God's ordained ministry, if we ask with the right intentions (James 4:1-3) and within God's will (1 John 5:14-15). The Bible promises "if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him" (James 1:5). If we pray for wisdom first, and ask in God's will, we will receive what we ask for. If we ask without wisdom, we won't ask according to His will,

excellent segment, and I'm so glad you covered the 'asking amiss' aspect, people tend to be oblivious to the fact that GOD (being omniscient) is not fooled by appearances, and (true) intention factors in to how He evaluates our decisions/actions. I would throw out a caveat though (to every lie there is some element of truth), to this new age (carnal) thinking there is a thread of biblical truth (not that it will benefit anyone that fails to turn to GOD), but anything done/given with pure intent 'will' result in more gain than cost (eventually), but there is no guarantee that that 'gain' will be received in this life, some/much/most (more likely most) of that gain will occur in heaven. ty for another excellent clip, hang in there : )

@@asiamadra1723 Mark 11:24 can be taken out of context and interpreted as “God will give us anything and everything we ask for in prayer if we believe that He will answer.” however Jesus was telling His disciples that their prayers in HIS name must be in accordance with God’s will. believing that He will answer means that we must have genuine faith that He will answer. but even if He doesn’t, He still knows what’s best for us, for our lives, so we can trust in Him. in its context, i don’t see where it specifies in the Bible that God guarantees/owes us financial prosperity as His children. that isn’t even the point of being His followers! Eventually, earthly wealth and riches will pass away and we will leave them all on earth when He takes us with Him. and if financial prosperity IS INDEED promised to every believer, then i don’t know how to explain my family/loved ones in the Philippines who are faithful followers of Jesus, but are not financially thriving. yet, i know that they are wealthy in God’s Kingdom, even though they are not rich here in earth.

@2:45 Mike says we're not giving to receive. Really? The bible is full from start to finish with stories of blessing being poured on to the faithful. I don't understand why you guys are so against people enjoying the promises God has made to us. Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." You reap what you sow Mathew 25: 41-43 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me."

The point is that our motive should be to give for the glory of God, not out of a selfish desire to get something in return. We *are* to enjoy any blessings God bestows on us in our lives, however, we are also to find contentment in our circumstances even when we might be struggling. It isn't a bad thing to gain wealth, but it becomes a problem when we make it our idol. As an example, I pursue greater fulfillment in my career not with the prospect of a higher income at the top of my mind, but with the goal of finding a job I love that will allow me the freedom to both be generous and to raise a family with attentive care so that they may come to love the Lord. Doors are opened for our desires when we align ourselves with His will and are driven by the right motives :)

@@BonzoKilbourn I see what you're saying, and I think there are some in WOF who feel that way, but many (especially new believers, I would say) fall victim to making that the end goal when, frankly, God doesn't guarantee we will gain our promised reward while still on this earth. I can't generalize and say that all WOF pastors focus solely on rewards from God, but there's sure a lot of "loud" ones who do, and sermons should focus on sharing the gospel with others, not on "what can I get from God??" When people put all of their faith into getting things and always being financially blessed, they are let down in times of hardship and more prone to walking away. It's heartbreaking.

Can anyone answer this question, is it true that speaking negatively CAN impact your situation negatively? For instance constantly saying, I'm never going to be happy, never going to be loved etc. With constantly saying that, I feel it will cause you to get into a negative funk and you won't be happy or loved. But if you changed your mindset to, I will be happy and I will be loved, you'll at least be positive and probably realize that you are loved regardless or having a spouse.

Faith is the thing that can guarantee a yes from God. Beliefs can be incorrect, or impure in motive, but faith... you can only get faith by hearing. So if you have faith, God will say yes because of your faith. But not faith in faith... its faith in Him, the author of that faith. So it is more blessed to give NOT to obtain some moral high ground, but you give because you don't lack the love of God. I have seen people broke from over giving, and they won't let anyone give back to them because it is a "lesser" blessing. Thats ridiculous. 🤣 so they get these little competition going over it.🙄 this is the kind of behavior and attitudes the mis application of these verses produce.

That is definitely new age and sounds like what the Bethel leaders teach in The Physics of Heaven. Anything focusing on something outside of or in addition to God is not in the Bible. We can pray things in our minds only and have those prayers answered. In fact, there are many salvation stories of people who have cried out for Jesus in their minds and have been immediately saved from the oppression they were suffering from in that moment.

Yes while chapter and verse numbers were added much later as helps which is helpful especially when preaching but you can also see how you can take one verse out of context much easier in that format to put your own ideas into the text that is called eisegesis that is the wrong way to interpret scripture. Strange and unbiblical doctrines have come about through the eisegeting the text out of context method. Most mature believers can read the bible in a verse by verse format and know where the breaks are so to keep with the context that will give you the meaning.

Please hear my heart in this response 😪 Ever stop to think that maybe the new age have adopted true Biblical principles as their own(not the other way around) Such as sowing and reaping(karma) and others? Causing some Christians to reject said Biblical principles... What a demonic ploy huh? Luke 6:38 New King James Version Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 [6]But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. [7]Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. [8]And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: Mark 10:29-30 [29]And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, [30]But he shall receive an hundredfold now IN THIS TIME, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Don't abandon the truth of these scriptures just because the new age has seemingly appropriated something similar for themselves. Sometimes Christians like yourself zealously fight so hard against where you used to be that you end up actually denying and speaking against the truth of scripture... 😪 Please consider this response.. Bring these words to Holy Spirit and ask Him to convict you if they are true. Be blessed my sister in Christ 🙌

Nicely put. Just because she is an ex-new ager, I don't think she has greater spiritual insight .. in fact, she probably has less due to her limited theology of the Holy Spirit.

These are some good verses you bring out. I would like to add that some comments though. The golden rule is to treat others how you want to be treated. This doesn’t at all guarantee good treatment in return. I need to treat everyone well, regardless of how they treat me and I shouldn’t expect good behavior in return. Luke 6:38 is in the context of judging others, not about material goods or getting things in return. It reminds me of Matthew 6:14-15. 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 is not guaranteeing anything in this life. It’s encouraging people to give so that others can go and share the Gospel. The reward for those who give will be in heaven. It’s also important to note, that the amount you give doesn’t matter so much as the heart behind it. That you are content with what you have and give cheerfully. And finally, Mark 10:17 - 31 talks about how difficult it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. A rich man asks to follow him and is told to sell his possessions and that his reward will be in heaven. In 29-30, Jesus is speaking with his disciples. They have left all they know and yet, from sharing the Gospel, they receive brothers and sisters in Christ. God provides them places to stay during their travels throughout countries. It’s also important to note, that Jesus mentions it brings persecutions too. This isn’t about giving and getting in return. It’s about giving all you have to God and trusting him that he will provide exactly what you need. It’s devotion to God, not to what you will receive.

@@TheAimeeRT My dear sister in Christ. Every verse in the Bible has a specific "context" I agree. However these 3 passages of Scripture have Biblical principles that are applicable and should be applied outside of the "context" of the scriptures in which they are written. I see this "we must look at the context" argument often, and it always is used when one is trying to refute a Biblical principle or truth that they themselves are not walking in or just don't agree with. Please take a moment to see if this is not true for you 😊 Be blessed my sister in Christ 😇

@@seanvann1747 But when one takes the verse out of context to apply it to different teachings, does that not change the meaning of the original text? Some verses can be quoted alone because their meaning does not change (ex: John 3:16). But to take these we've discussed and many other verses outside of their original context, the meaning changes. That's false teaching. It's like in elementary school when a teacher tells someone how to figure out the meaning of the word based on context clues. For example, "At the baseball game, the bat hit his friend," is very different from "At the cave, the bat hit his friend." But if you just say, "the bat hit his friend," the meaning of "bat" is vague and could lead to misunderstanding. I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Have a good day.

@@TheAimeeRT My dear sister in Christ. It's like this 😊 Gravity is a phisical earthly principle. If the only time we had ever see this principle in action is when an apple fell out of a tree we cannot assume that gravity only works in the "context" of apples falling from trees. Just because the principle of gravity can be applied in other circumstances does not take anything away from the fact that gravity is still causing apples to fall from trees 😉 I'll give you a Biblical example I'm sure you can relate to 😉. Matthew 19:23 New King James Version Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Could we ever say well this Biblical principle does not apply to you or me because this verse in it's "context" is referring to the rich young ruler. Absolutely not lol! We know its a Biblical principle that applies to us all I'm sure you would agree 👍 In Matthew 5:39 we see that Jesus is talking to a group of people that do not include us. He says that if someone is slapped on their right cheek they should turn and give that person their left side as well. I'm sure that you would also agree this is a principle that was not only for that group of people because of the "context". We as Christians are called to have this same kind of Love as a manifestation of lives as well. 😊 I preached on this several weeks ago I will leave a link to it here. I pray it is a blessing to you my sister. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3aZioN-gJiMaMk God bless you 🙏

“And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: the merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, and cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.” Revelation 18:9-13, 21

“Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:18-25 ESV
