Palmer was such a class act too, never big timed anyone...I was just a fan, I walked by him once at the pga championship when he was there, I happened to catch him by himself walking back towards the course....I said "hey Mr. Palmer I'm a huge fan, can I shake your hand?" ... he said thank you and reached out his hand witj a good old boys strong handshake grip and said "how are you doing" and asked where I was from, asked my name, and talked golf with me for maybe 2 minutes (I was studdering) and he even told me a story about how he and a buddy had come out and played the course the day before and what he thought about the conditions....it was so amazing, I never felt big timed, not once..., he then shook my hand again and said "nice to meet you mark" and off he went...I was in shock he would take the time for someone like me, I'm just some random fan... but he treated me like an equal, 0 arrogance ....I've never been more impressed with someone's class...RIP

The trail leg seems to be the trend nowadays certainly helped me to gain more hip rotation 😃👍

Mixing up 24fps and 60fps? I like the 60fps. It helps to better see your swing. Hoping for more 60fps on future videos. :)

what a great video rip Arnold. i was actually practicing that swing this afternoon with trail leg a little straighter and i was getting a lot better strike of the ball and definitely better contact.

What about the teaching that wants you to restrict the hips to create tension or a coiling action? Just want to know, seems like if you let the hips turn you have less chance of back injury.

I've been thinking about this as well. Seems to me that turning the hips like this could take some strain off the knees as well as the back. Maybe especially for a beginner who isn't swinging as efficiently?

David Driscoll Yes or even us seniors that have already suffered some kind of back or knee injury

Great questions. It is all about finding the right amount of hip turn for you that enables you to still create a good "coil".

Greg Boggs bingo. Raising the left heel is much easier on the back. See Tiger Woods for details. Soon McElroy...

In my experience, the hip restriction idea is bogus, and is a great way to hit fat shots. Letting the hips turn properly creates is a much more natural movement, and for me, creates much more consistent strikes. The idea that less hip movement = less moving parts = more repeatable action just doesn't work out in practice for me. It took a while to figure out exactly how the hips should turn - there are many ways to do it incorrectly that do result in complete loss of power. For me, it is much easier to focus on having the right knee straighten (not lock) while having the left knee turn in to the right. Provided my knees aren't too bent at address, I can maintain my spine angle without having a drastic change in head elevation. I can't say that I've noticed much less stress on the back by swinging this way. My degree of shoulder turn in relation to hip turn (aka x-factor, actually a term used to support hip-restricted strings) seems to remain the same, but since the club and hands are making a longer (not necessarily wider) arc, they arrive at the top position with quite a bit more momentum.. and the back has to take all that extra energy. UNrestricting my hips does put quite a bit of strain on my right knee, which holds even more tension than when using a right knee flexed/hip-restricted swing. All that said, there's probably a way to use a full hip rotation and a smaller x-factor to decrease back strain (with a loss of distance, of course). It's hard to speculate whether that would generate more speed than a restricted hip turn + full x-factor, but I feel that it would at least create a more natural rhythym and more consistent strikes.

Their heels slammed down in the downswing, no doubt, but they were already rotating, not waiting for the pressure to shift before turning. The shift is an effect.

Not slam the left foot AND turn.. Its a combined ONE move!. You must be very very careful wit the words. And also its turn left hip upwards not just turn horizontly..
