Thank you Craig... I'm referring to his driver swing.. Completely different move.. He compresses in the transition and then comes up out of it causing club face closing just after impact... If Tiger went back to his old 975D with a shorter steel shaft, he'd hit a lot more fairways and not lose yardage.. His driver swing is much different because he has no choice but to droop the shaft at impact to get the clubhead to flatten out...

check that out my tiger woods video at about 8 minutes . Tiger is not flipping it i have watched a lot of his videos in slow mo the last 1-2 years .I do agree that the oilder swing suited the driver more . He used a shorter driver in 2000 and he was young ..no fear ! But this game will get to everyone at some stage . But hes not flipping thats for sure ..Sean Foley teaches a compression line and does it well . But you have some interesting points .

Hi Craig.. Keep in mind the equipment is much different today.. With light upright equipment it's impossible to compress into the ground like the great ball strikers of the past did...

I don't believe these players are "pausing" their hips at impact. Their hips have actually turned as far as they can go. Any further turn of the hips and the upper body follows.

I know what you your saying but after you watch more videos you will see it.There is hip pause very often.Or in some cause even a slight hip reverse movement like Rory. But thanks for posting.

Yes the hips stop turning suddenly, but you make it sound intentional. They are stopping because their turn is maxed out at that instant.

Correct. This is actually the opposite of what we usually mean by hip stall. Usually hip stall happens when the player hasn't rotated enough and the hips and shoulders are still square at impact and now can't turn through the shot. These guys are as open as you can get by impact. Ithink they'd like to have the body completely facing the target at impact if thay could. I find it interesting when we talk about lateral movement in the lower body when we reference these players. Look at Palmer with the grid behind him. Watch the left edge of his belt from the start of the downswing and use the grid behind him for reference. There is a little bump left as he starts, along with the rotation. From there it's all rotation and the left hip and that left edge of the belt is just cranking behind him. It can look like alot of forward motion because we see the external rotation of the left knee and upper thigh which are moving forward, but the hips are practically all rotation. I think it's a similar story with Hogan. People try to copy what they think they're seeing and end up being sliders who don't get anywhere near open enough, needless to say they can't emulate the mechanics and get comparable results. Also remember that the pelvis isn't round, it's eliptical. So if we just rotate it, it will have the appearance of moving laterally which exacerbates the look of lateral motion.

. Why would golf companies make lie angles for a driver same as a 5 iron?... For the hacker.. My driver is at 49 degrees and nut it.. This toe up garbage makes no logical sense at all.. It promotes a stiff legged flip.. Tiger flips the crap out of it , why he used to hit the ball further and straighter.. 70 percent of fairways hit in 2000 compared to 57 percent now.. The course setups are a joke on the PGA tour, you don't get penalized by missing fairways anymore..
