I got two referrals for Pacific Financial and went with them as my first bond provider. Bond Girls quote was much cheaper - half the premium. May go with them next renewal. Yes, you are right Brandon, no carrier has ever asked about my bond. So, be the wiser and shop around. Great advise for new brokers.

I have been talking with Gabrielle Liberatore from JW Surety Bonds she has been very helpful in answering my questions as well as seeing if the cost for the surety bond has gotten lower for us (she has ran my credit more than one to see if we can get the best deal possible)

Some great info here Scott. I would like to add that if there is a legit claim on your surety bond you are responsible for paying that back. This is in the indemnity agreement that you will sign when you purchase the bond. Rates have come down a bit from this video (2018) and great personal credit will run you around $950/year for the bond.

Surety bond is to ensure freight brokers pay carriers. Contingent cargo insurance is not required by FMCSA for freight brokers but many shippers require it...it covers freight in the event freight is damaged in transit..study the carmack amendment to.learn about liability as it pertains to cargo...

No, you pay so much a year depending on your credit. His instance he didn’t negotiate and he paid 3k a YEAR. He broke it up quarterly. This means he paid 750 every 3 months. It’s just like insurance. You might have a 50k car insurance but you only pay x amount a month. Hope this helps!
