I've been a driver, I've been a dispatcher. I've worked in LTL, dry van and chemical/tanker companies as well. I'm young and I have no degree, despite going to college for multiple things. I've never found a more concise and helpful video that answered every question I didn't even know I had. Maybe now I can finally work for myself, and eventually help my friends share in success. Thank you for everything!

I honestly get a kick out of these people that think that they can just say, ok I'm going to be a broker.... How do you fill your trucks that sign into you?? Load boards, seriously? I dont give my drivers anyones cheap leftovers!! In an emergency, Ill use a load hoard. You shouldn't ever rely on a load board. College for 2 years, in LOGISTICS and going in a truck for 10 months, how do you expect to broker freight to drivers if you've never spent a minute in a truck with a truck driver, watching, learning, listening.....learn what they are going thru. I tell every single driver I speak too and tell them, if this broker wants your business, He will cater to you, the O/O are the BOSS...(many drivers forget that) you're paying them, you iwn the truck, your business. NO forced loads...they should have no problem sending you their references etc. If you hear "Ive never been in a truck....RUN" I know my drivers wives birthday, have sent flowers, gifts for them...kids important days he/she has to be home for, holidays never missed, Go the extra mile for the ones that keep you in business, and they will always treat you with respect and go that extra 100 miles for you. Drivers struggle daily with the Industry the way it is today compared to 20+ yrs. Ago. They miss their family, their home etc... wa lways be there to lend an ear other than just rate confirmations. Form friendships, extended family. I have an apt for my truckers when they are in this area, no hotels, we jave BBQs, dinners, hot shower, their own bedroom...kitchen, living room, washer n dryer and Ive done alot of laundry lol, we have a huge garage where my husband works on his trucks, so they do oil changes etc...home away from home. Ive met some of the best people and will continue to run my business like this forever. Despite the so called fly by night 'dispatching services' out there today giving dispatchers bad reputations, all I have is my name, at the end of the day I look back and am happy at what I choose to do with it! Keep on Trucking !

Just wanted to make a point about the credit builder option. If a broker is just starting out and is not firmly established I think credit builder is potentially necessary. Many carriers work with brokers only AFTER they have been approved by the carriers factoring company. A new broker may have issues getting approved by factoring companies until they are established. That means they have been in business for at least 1 year and they have demonstrated their ability to not only pay but to pay in a timely manner. Usually somewhere between 30-90 days...but factoring companies like the closer to 30 day. Just an FYI. Be safe everyone.

That's a waste of money and time. He'd be better working for minimum wage at a brokerage or in a office at a trucking company. He'll learn more in a year than 10 in college. Excellent presentation. I am interested in brokering. Tired of this 9-5 not paying what I am worth.

interesting, I was quoted $2150 yet my credit is really good, didn't know I can negotiate. How do I negotiate? I picked up a Brother HL-3140CW laser printer at Walmart for only $100. best printer ever....I dunno I think it was on sale

Currently researching if it makes more sense to start out as buying the truck and hiring a driver or just becoming a dispatcher or broker? The ladder def seems to have lower startup costs
