I have a 2006 mustang gt I have full 0 gauge wiring ran on Taramp smart 3k and for mids and highs I have a 900 watt ct sounds with yellow top under the hood and in the trunk with big 3 done and currently wait on 200 amp high output alt that hasn’t came in do you think the alt will help with my voltage drop????

I'm sticking to a 12v setup. I love my Sony Mobile ES speakers and XM GS4 amplifier, the sound is so clean and crisp that I just want to sit in the car for a few more minutes after parking it to enjoy the music. I plan on doing a Fi Neo 3.5 12 inch in a sealed box up to a 2k amp with a stock alt and 0 gauge big 3. Then put in a 240 amp alt once the stock alternator is worn out.

I’m running Skar DDX10 d2 with skar 1200.1 in a 6th at 1ohm. Headlights dim horribly. Did big3, no progress. So ordered the Mechman 240. Now I gotta change 4awg to 1/0. Haven’t popped any of the 100amp anl fuses yet at full tilt. In a daily driver.

I asked about the batteries because I have two identical North Star AGM batteries. One under the hood and one in back connected in parallel with 1/0 sky high wire and I'm running 2,000 watts@2ohm to my Skar VXF 15"... I have zero light dimmage on a stock alternator. I have a Mechman 240 amp alternator ready to go but I'm being lazy about installing it because I am noticing zero issues with the system as is on the stock alternator. I even have a noco 5 amp charger for when I need it but I haven't had to use it yet. It's either the batteries or all that high quality wiring or both.

@@snauspockets9924 I have an AGM up front only. I kinda went with the largest one I could get for the car. I think it’s the wiring that has my lights dimming. They’re halogen, I’ll try led and see if they dim. For the alternator install, dbl chk pulley size of factory alt vs HO alt. I noticed 63mm factory to 60mm mechman. Still decent tightness in SERP belt. No slippage. Getting 14.8v at all points

Question: My 79 Mark V died in The middle of the street. I found that the alternator was bad, and just not charging the brand new battery that was installed (only 2 days before). Tested the alternator while the car was running, and it was not charging the battery. I have an aftermarket sound system in this car. It's a 800W amp split between 2 12-inch subs. Should I change my factory alternator which I believe is 60 to 70 amp, or should I get like 100 amp alternator? Or, will that burn my battery, and should I just stick with a 60 to 70 amp alternator? Any good advice would help, thank you in advance.

From experience yeah don't slap a high putput alternator without knowing what your doing. I fried my Escalade like a noob. Great video sir. Wish I had seen this before. But I learned a lot.

Maybe you can answer my question....because someone named Brandice refuses to. Is the OFC wire simply better no matter what the application, than using CCA wire? Also, I want a Big 3 kit. Can you make me a 4 guage kit using OFC wire? Its just a normal every day driver with a 1,200 watt amp, one 12" woofer and MMats speakers for mid range, door speakers and two tweeters. Nothing carzy. But I have a high horsepower engine so I wanted a better 145 amp alternator instead of the factory 95 amp. So I need a 4 guage Big 3 kit. Thanks.

Demoing into 12’s is ok? As long as voltage stays 12.4 and above? Charge at 14.8 but under heavy long bass notes I’ve seen 12.9 I try to stay 13+ but if mid 12’s are ok then I’ll stay in it longer. I got a 192ah headway backed by 370 singer and a 270 Ohio Gen alts….6 runs power and grounds (3+3-) straight off alts to rear bank with all 2/0 welding cable.

When my car is running my headunit reads 13.9-14.2 … is that not normal? Especially if I have the volume up a bit, if not it’s always 14.1-14.3. But I never see that 14.5-14.8

Hey how's it going? So I'm kind of just getting into getting a real sound system in my Ford Explorer I've had many other vehicles with just random amps and subs and boxes nothing matched just Jimmy rigged and I got through it through those years in high school and what not but now I'm running two 12 in DVC 4ohm subs in parallel to a kicker 1200.1 monoblock amp subs rated at 800rms and amp is 1200rms at 1ohn I was having issues with amp cutting into protect but I was off the running cheap 4 gauge CCA power ground wire now I'm hooking up the new ofc 4 gauge AWG amp kit now my question is since I'm definitely trying to stick with 12 volt system do I need to do the big three? Or even upgrade the ground on the actual battery under the hood? Or put some kind of little capacitor in there? I'm hoping possibly just putting this ofc for AWG wire in will do the trick! Let me know what you think it's a Ford Explorer so it's already got pretty big alternator but it's all 12 volt and I would like to stick with the 12 volt and I know I'm running 300 w lower than the two 12-in subs are rated RMS at anyway I would appreciate if you can drop some knowledge on me with this issue I'm hooking up the new ofc wire Saturday coming up I'm already getting all the ends crimped on just got to rip out the old and put in the new but yeah any info you can give me on that I'd appreciate it thanks a lot JP keep them pumping That Bass brother!

Mechman 240amp alt sitting on my bench in the garage...don't even need it atm and they are kind of a pain to put in second generation Highlanders. Got it a couple weeks ago and I'm being lazy. I'll get it in there eventually. 2,000 watts at 2 ohms isn't pushing my stock alternator on 2x Northstar AGMs very hard anyway. When I start my car it's 3.9 volts and it drops down to 3.1 when I'm hitting the subs hard at idle for long periods. That isn't too bad is it?

Depends on the power you want to run. Anything 2000 watts and over, upgrade your alt and run at least one extra battery. I'm at 6000 watts on two 15s and have a 300 amp alt on three batteries. One up front and two in the back. And your wire is also very important. Don't skip on wire. OFC is the best to run over CCA. It's more conductive and transfers current much faster.

I always recommend upgrading your alt.. extra batteries are just a band aid solution. But keep your stock alt incase your ho alt has issues. Trust me.

@@crunkwun first time i tried upgrading alternator i had a gang of negative issues. i removed the new one and its sitting on a shelf. that was a 2000 accord coupe . my 2011 i swapped my alternator out with zero problems.

I’m running yin long 80ah only no agm or acid battery Im running 6 10” skar evl’s with each getting its on amp (pioneer 9601) so you said you charge to 17+ volts. I used a limitless lithium charger that only charges to 15.5 would it be good for my system to charge to 17v I already burned out my factory alternator and JS is building me a 410amp since July on back order thanks for your time (2007 Hummer H3).

Hey everyone I have a 19 Camry with a 240 autotech and the voltage control module I've been running it at 14.8-15.0 with no problem BUT I just ordered a 29AH SCIB bank from NORTHWEST LITHIUM and i installed it yesterday and as soon as the voltage went over 15v the car started beeping and saying charging system malfunction on both the dashboard and radio screen i know it's just the modern version of a battery light and was told i could possibly see it when initially installing the alternator is it ok for everything to charge that high and what are possible solutions to give my car a lower voltage while still seeing 15.8 at the SCIB bank in the trunk mind you this is a sedan (19 Camry) with very little room under the hood and I have no clue where to look so I think the dual alternator is out of the question unless someone can point me in the direction of someone who knows how and would do the custom work of the dual alternator setup

Most likely you can go higher wattage than that, but yes as he said need to know stock alternator output to be sure. My Ford edge came with a 150a stock, but some cars only have 90a or so.

To keep car computer and oem accessories @12 volts but your amps at 16 volts using just one alternator.. Do install a 16 volt alternator and your 16 volt battery banks for the Amps, but a 14 volt "Down Step module" from such alternator to your regular oem stock battery. And do Run your 16 volt battery banks directly to the 16 volt alternator terminal.

So the cool thing about my car is with the stock ECU it can handle up to 15.9 volts of charge I pulled out my stock 130 amp alternator running off of the ECU and I ordered a Brand X 390 amp alternator and had him set it up for 14.8 volts constant internally regulated so it is not controlled by the car's ECU anymore because that fluctuates then I built myself a 6S Ying long 350 amp hour Bank of lithium

Yes but you need a high amp alternator 400 amps plus at least. An Extra rear battery or more than one. To support that wattage you will need good copper OFC wire with two runs of 1/0 or 1 bid 2/0 wire for the big three because 1/0 only supports like 3,000 watts or something like that. From the alt to the front battery and from the battery to the back for the system. The grounds need to be the same size as the power wires also on the big three.

Depends on your vehicle.. if you have a 4 cylinder.. stay away from big alts. Your vehicle will have a hard time trying to turn that alt. I have a 425a alt on a V6 and notice the difference in performance. It's sluggish on stand still to gassing it. A 250a or 300a+ alt would be better.

@@crunkwun Thanks for the info! Yes unfortunately its a 4 cylinder 2.4 engine and theres only a few options I've found for alts that will fit without mods. I believe around 300 amp which is night an day from 80 amp it has. I'm surprised my lights don't go completely dim. Im currently running 4 12s at 1ohm on 2000 watt skar and a 1000 watt mid/high amp. All oversized knukonceptz 1 0tt wiring. They system is seriously bottleneck and i need a second 2000 watt amp. So that both sets of 12s can be ran independently at 0.5 ohm as the skar so far seems to be handling that like a champ.what budgetmind second battery would you suggest. Keep in mind beyond adding a second 2000 watt amp or just using a single 4000 there will most likely not be anything else added. Im pretty loud now im just trying to get the full potential of what i have. Aslo its a 2013 Chrysler 200.

@@nickstalhood5380 when you start running over 1500-2000wrms you seriously need to start looking at ho alts.. I have a Brand X alt but when I get another alt I will be going to another company either AutoTech or Iraggi(Iraggi has a life time warranty and a buy back system) Mechman is good but very expensive. When looking at alts find out how much amperage they put out at idle, ask if you can have it charge at 14.8-14.9. I've clamped 225a at idle out of my 425a. And yes anything over your 80a alt is a bonus haha..

no problems, I run a lithium on my truck for a while now. The battery has a BMs inside which is smart protection circuits. My charging system is all stock for the moment but I will be upgrading soon for an audio system. My voltage starts of in the 14.4 range after start up but gradually drops to 13.2 at idle after a good long while. Lithium battery charges really fast. I have jumped mine with another battery and I just hold the cables on the posts for 1 minute and the battery charges up instant not like conventional. My lithium battery has a voltage meter and charge percentage meter display built on top.

I have a 2018 Chevy Malibu what size amp should I use for stock battery and alternator I’m put in hight low converter keeping stop deck

The general rule of thumb is that "most" stock electrical system are good up to around 1000 watts or so. I've got a daily driver S10 with stock alt and battery, and run a 500 watt rms amp on subs, and 200 watt rms on the mids/highs with no issues. My Silverado has a little more power with 2600 rms on subs and 700 rms on mids/highs, so I've got an optima red top battery under the hood, two 100ah agm batteries out back (isolated), all being charged by an Excessive Amperage 300 amp alternator, and no issues with it either.

@@thatruthhurts7210 my 1400 Hyundai ix20 has 2 bass amps kenwood so 1700 watts and a 5 channel Ken wood with 120 watts of bass and 240 watts for my door speakers and done the big 3 and has a 90 amp alternator and all my wire is ofc copper with 2 off 12 inch sub and one 10 inch sub and one 6 inch sub

I have 2 of the D4S LTO 6.0 and a 240 amp alternator. it charges between 14.1-.2 at idle, if I add a diode what will my voltage go to ?

Can you mix alternators like both being 12 volt but ones a 270 and I just got a 400 mechman can I hook them together so they both helping out

Yes as long as both are charging at same voltage. Alternators will only put out what is asked if them. Regulator sees a loaded put on it and they kick on to send the required amps

@@wooferl7 it’s still computer controlled so it should be the same but I didn’t know if the 400 amp would charge more then the 270 I just didn’t wanna mess one of them up cause they were two different amp output, I didn’t know if that would make any difference… when I first got my 270 it was around 14.5 it’s about 3 years old now and it’s sits around 14.3 so adding that 400 amp alt should help pick my voltage back up then… I just didn’t want the bigger alt to mess up the smaller one basically but thanks for the info and ya the time you took to write it…🔊🔊

@@Pittsburgh-412 that’s what I have now but I’m still using the factory alt and battery for the truck and I have two limitless lithium’s in the back for the sub amp and the 270 only runs it and the mids and high amp but if the 400 amp alt keeps up better then I may still split them up and just have all three alts on the truck I did everything I could to keep as much power as I could to the amp lol thanks for the advice fr

In my opinion, yes. That extra battery will give you reserve power and help your vehicle voltage from starving.

Step 1: sell that SFB amp and stay well away from that line Step 2: Buy a salt amp instead Step 3: upgrade your alt to 250a + (depending on your vehicle)

@@dg2041 I'm in many basshead pages and the sundown page aswell.. They're Chinese full bridge amplifiers. Very touch and go.. you have to put a load on the speaker terminals before you power on or it will blow.. many have asked why their brand new sfb amp has gone into protect and won't come out. Last I heard they were discontinuing that line.. so stay away from it. If you're wanting to go full bridge just go Brazilian.

i thought you upgrade your alternator when you need more amps. like if you wanna run higher rms subs say 3000 rmsso you need an amp that puts out that amount of rms. but a stock alternator doesnt have enough amps so you upgrade it. like i went from 130 amp stock alternator in my accord to a 240 amp one so i could run higher rms amps and speakers. so this is wrong? whatever you were talking about is clear as mud. are you talking about alternators or batteries or what? or are you talking about purely competion sized systems and not daily drive one or 2 sub systems with a simple1 or 2 mono blocks and a 4 channel or two 2 channel mids and highs amp or amps?

I want to put a subwoofer into my Volkswagen Jetta, but ever Volkswagen video I see on KZbin shows the alternator overcharging and the factory fuse box burning up, what is a recommend wattage amplifier I can use for my car without burning it down. Love your Tahoe install.

Hey, you should be ok, just do the big 3 upgrade and a aftermarket fuse holder , remove the stock alternator wire and fuse, the oem fuseblock is pretty trash. i have a mk4 golf running 6k amplifier just fine (mechman 370)
