Right tbh tho even at their level of success they could probs afford the payment plan on most outboard gear. Most of my gear was bought via payment plans, I had 2-3 going at specific times of the month so it wasn’t too crazy to juggle. Not saying I’m buying super nice gear but the payment plans were for sure a lifesaver.

The accuracy of the a to d conversion is extremely important because the difference between any given analog signal can vary so drastically, whereas the digital to analog conversion is largely going to be extremely similar converting the binary information from a windows machine, or a mac from one song to the next.

LJ try the RME Baby Face Pro. I think it’s the best of both worlds for you. I just switched from Apollo Twin to the Babyface. Workflow and sound transformed. Not to mention, the RME has the best drivers, so you never have to worry about software bugs.
@ajwadakter7326Ай бұрын
I was looking into the RME for a minute but the price jump is crazy, I've seen that interface go for like 700 and now it's going for like 1000-1200 and at that ballpark I'd rather shell out a bit more and just go with the MT48

I also keep my tracking chain simple through my UA interface...which I believe gives me and/or any engineer an easy job of mixing them later on.....since I'm not a gatekeeper....I use the UA AVALON in the Unison/Mic Pre slot...then in the insert chain...I use the UA SSL E (where I do minimal tweaking and adjust the gate and expander lightly).... then the NEVE 88RS for its warmth and saturation....then the C-VOX ....lastly...the AUTOTUNE PRO if it calls for it.....✌✌ and that's my tracking print chain✌✌....

Watching this episode is a perfect display why just cause something is “better” or “expensive” doesn’t mean it’s for everyone L Jean doesn’t care to learn his MT48 so he won’t have the chance to really understand what’s so good about it, a few years back I had a client give me a 30,000 budget to build him a project studio I set him up with a AVID CARBON , CL1B, AVID S3, BAE 1073, U87 and a bunch more stuff and after setting him up what I realized was how much you have to factor in what the EASE of USE should be because he wasn’t an experienced engineer he was just a rapper that wanted to be able to record at the best possible level now I was able to set him up but the learning curve took a lot because it was to advance for his expertise if I could go back I would of gotten more simple gear Btw I got 5K worth of gear for myself out the budget which was nice of the artist because I was happy doing it for free

Conversion is one of those things that make a huge difference but its hard to notice it especially if you never experienced. I went from a presonus interface and was making pretty good music but the soundstage mixing always sounded a little blurry and my recordings straight to the interface always sounded slightly harsh and sharp. Switch to a antelope audio interface and it made a world of difference. My recordings are nice and smooth and the space between instruments and soundstage makes such a huge difference that you dont really notice until your mixing the music from one to the other. You can watch videos on youtube of people showing the difference between like universal audio, focusrite, etc and you can definitely hear the difference. But at the end of the day i know people that run their whole studio through focusrite, universal audio, etc and still make amazing music with really nice clean mixes so i guess it depends on the person.

The sonible stuff is so slept on right now. We can’t fight ai. It should be embraced when it’s good. And smart comp and smart eq are SO well thought out. Absolutely off the charts. Smart eq has grouping. You can set presets to get a starting sound… but sonible had the foresight to allow for complete control after the ai processes. It’s just a tool. And it’s a phenomenal tool! Smart comp as well which allows customization and saturation and color. Okay, that’s my ad lol Sonible is gas ⛽️

It looks like the Mark 2 versions are now up to specs with the SSL 12. You guys should watch his review and test out the Mark two versions and tell us what you think. Track into nothing other than a noise gate. If you can get it sounding proper dry, than messing around with the wet signals is more forgiving . Trust. Unless your using analog gear and going for a specific sound knowingly. Might as well keep the tracking vocal as dry as possible. Than I just slide it down to the main vocal bus and voila I have my main vocal chain there that I tweak to each individual song a least a lil bit like with la2a to dial in compression for example

Once again. Antelope audio !!!!!! Better interface mad affordable for what you get with it !!
@doodoogtubeАй бұрын
Which one? I sold my Antelope audio Zen Q because I hated everything about it. First and foremost, horrible headphone quality through my Audeze CDX’s, atrocious graphical user interface and the routing…forget about it, it was a nightmare. The user experience was not user-friendly at all. I sold it and got the Solid State Logic SSL 12 which comes with the 360 Software and all its other goodies and straight up smokes the Antelope Audio in all the categories I listed above and then some…It’s wasn’t even close and the most important thing the SSL 12 and now the new MarkII SSL 2 and 2+ work with a whole range of low impedance & high impedance headphones (which is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) and was my problem when it came to sound quality. I always recommend people to check out the video by Julian Krause on reviewing a sh!t ton of audio interfaces. He has a spec chart comparing them with one another. I would recommend everybody to watch this video before buying a pair of headphones or an audio interface, you could be listening to a crappy version of what you’re producing and not even know it. I knew something was wrong, but couldn’t put my finger on it until after watching his video. Now, when you get into the high end Antelope audio interfaces from everything I’ve seen and heard, those are a complete different animal but from my experience, I still wouldn’t purchase one, even if I had the money because of my past experience with them. The routing is still not user-friendly,, even in those high end models.✌🏾

Not at all especially if you’re just recording a vocal and a instrument high end conversion only matters once your going out of outboard gear and need your signals to be transparent as possible going in and out Now if you’re mixing in a well treated room with pro level monitors $4000+ have an analog mastering chain then yes the difference in convertors would matter
