I asked for a 12 " sub they finished making it i loaded it with everything on it and the sub maker cut it in half with the knife with dried mayo on it and that's when i told her she could start from scratch . The staff tried to tell me there was nothing wrong with the knife so i pointed out the dried mayo on the knife and the dried mayo on the plastic knife holder . From a former subway employee: Bread: Sort of, but in every case it's not the fault of the employees. If you got a white Bread sandwich in the morning (before we get a chance to bake more) then yeah. Although it would be from the afternoon on the day before (not a full 24hrs). Almost all store bake in the morning, then a bit more in the afternoon. Roasted Chicken: Debatable. They were saying less than 50% was actually chicken which wasn't true. I recall there being information on the bag and I know it was at least >98% chicken. It just depends on the bag information being reliable. They're basically big, un-breaded chicken nuggets Meatballs: True. putting the old ones on in the morning is a stretch though. Sauces: To my knowledge, we don't do that. You have no idea how rigorously we clean these bottles. There. Now you have another source. P.S. : Everything did come in bags, but I mean its the cheapest way to transport something. They're also meant to be easily handled by employees and they dont have to look pretty for customers as normally customers dont see it.

I worked at 3 different subways for 3 different owners. All of them kept the bread overnight but for the most part we wrapped them in trash bags still following fifo unless theyre hard. Second the mestballs do get old and nasty and if there is a significant amount left they do get put back in the walk-in which is improper, and lastly most locations do just refill the bottles of sauce instead of using clean bottles but not all locations. It mainly csme down to if the employees weren't too lazy or if even the store has enough bottles to swap out with clean ones. *edit to add i would still eat there. Their food aint bad enough to bash and nothing there is really that gross.

Everything you said about subway is just complete garbage. I worked at subway for 6 YEARS. This is how every process starts: Greeting, we ask them what they would like on what bread, we take the footlong out and cut it if they want a 6”. The other half does get put back, but is usually used within an hour. We ask if they want cheese or deluxe, the the question for toasting or heating in the microwave. Day old bread isn’t even that big of a deal? Like the bread you buy at the store is older than that lmao what? By the end of the night we have MAYBE 40 pieces of bread left, and we keep it behind a door to keep it from getting hard, if any bread is hard before cutting, we put it in waste. The meatballs are checked regularly, if they get crusty or start to gel or they get smashed, it’s trashed. We do not re-use bottles. We would get shut down if we did. My store and every store in my city operates the same, we all have the same owner and cleanliness is a big thing at our stores. We are even required to change gloves after every meat. If you handle beef and then get a chicken sub you have to change gloves, same for veggie subs and if you get any sauces in them.

Our stores(I worked at half of them through the years since they’re all owned by the same) are very clean, and do not partake in any of those things claimed in the video. We don’t do it because we wouldn’t done to us. @mattwilkes22145 жыл бұрын
Well all bread that isn't rye or spelt is wheat flour. White flour is just way better for making bread. The gluten development makes it chewy while still being soft. 100% whole wheat flour makes a decent bread but it turns out more like a brown bread or sort of like a tougher, dense cake. Could make decent sandwich slices but it's not going to be a sub roll. Most whole wheat recipes are mostly white flower and taste different and amazing lol. They're not lying, people just do know enough about what they're ordering, even at a bakery.

The "more soy than chicken" finding was a flawed study. Have you priced imitation processed chicken? It's more expensive than real chicken. Why would they use something more expensive?
@srlagarto15 жыл бұрын
My source is the grocery store. My son is vegan. I actually buy the chicken substitutes for him. They're a lot more expensive per pound than real chicken. Example: Walmart sells the Gardein™ Meatless Chick'n Strips 10 oz. Bag for $3.97. That's $6.35/pound. Albertson's is currently advertising boneless skinless chicken breast for $1.99/pound. The chicken substitute is more than triple the cost of the real thing. Just because an anti-fast food article says something doesn't mean it's true. Go to your local grocery store and price the chicken substitute and the real chicken. Then use some logic. Why would subway use a more expensive product to cut costs? As for the soy found in the analysis? Simple. They use a little soy sauce in their marinade. That doesn't mean it's made of soy.

Most shops keep them either in a hot well or heat them in toaster while on the bread. They are right on as far as the meatballs. The best time to get bread is AFTER 11:00am-1:00PM. As for bugs or worms that would be from the factory since the chicken comes pre packed. Throw tha pkg away and report it.. The chicken is changed regularly. That is why subway franchize overhead is soooo expensive. Lots of good food gets thrown to preserve freshness. @@kyrozephyr8628 There are always risks with food when you're eating out; you never fully understand what goes into your food when other people are cooking it, especially when it's manufactured or processed off-site. If you want to be more positive of what you're getting, it's better to cook for yourself. However, even meats and other groceries are improperly labeled at the markets as well. Subway incorporates the grains, as advertised, and we should expect meats to not be 100%, especially after the McDonald's chicken nugget rumors. Subway provide products that is fairly reasonable. You can find faults, better or worse, at any fast food chain. People are so eager to point fingers at the chain, such as McDonald's made me fat, but the food chains provide convenience. To expect more out of what they're providing is to hike up the price drastically to appease people for "100%" meat. It's a give and take. It's your prerogative to trade that that quality with convenience.

So unless a new invention sends you one straight through your tv, subways have nothing to worry about. And no i dont have a stake in subway but its been my second job for 4 and half years so i kinda consider subway like a good friend. No need to be so literal. I had no say in the sauce, and that is why there is a sad face, so i dont understand your confusion.

Being from New York and living in Florida now I really miss those real delis that made real good sandwiches. With always fresh bread that's delivered that morning from the bakery. And they always use quality condiments, not some mayonnaise like product

If you ever see a Jersey Mike's Sub Shop, go in and be surprised at what a fresh made sub is like ! Not the precut meats that get slapped on subway subs. Jersey Mike's rocks and has the best subs I've ever had.

When I worked at Subway we made the bread fresh every day. Very rarely would we have much bread left over for the next day.

When I worked at Taco Bell I noticed a lot of fat people would order the Taco Salad and a Diet Coke. I guess they thought the word "salad" meant it was diet food. Ironically, the Taco Salad was the highest calorie item on the entire menu.

Lol, that toasting before making the sub is so wrong. We ask if they want it toasted beforehand with streak and the chicken sandwiches because they need to be warmed up regardless. We won't ask if you want it toasted beforehand if you get any of the deli meats because those meats aren't required to be warmed up. Not because are bread isn't fresh lmao

So basically never eat at subway. I worked for firehouse- can attest everything is fresh. Even though we have to toast the bread because it literally finishes cooking in the toaster.

I'm an AGM at a Jersey Mike's Subs and we discontinued the #18 chicken parm because yes it did suck, the chicken was supposed to be microwaved I put it on the grill the bread doesn't get micro waved anymore also it was only for 5 seconds to temper the bread. All the meats are high quality with way less chemicals then the meats you buy at Walmart or HEB. of y'all really trip over day old bread then you might wanna think twice on the bread you buy from the store lol. If you keep buying cheap you'll keep getting cheap food. Go the extra mile and treat yourself right to great quality subs cut infront of you! Jersey Mike's Subs 😀

I used to work at Jersey Mikes. The thing about the chicken parm is 100% true. And it is the same for the meatball parm as well, it is cooked completely by microwave. Other than that all of the deli meat is just deli meat. Jersey Mike gets it from the same distributors as Boars Head. But they do make all of their bread fresh daily at least where i was. And I know that because they would send employees home with all of the extra bread at closing time. And we had to prep the bread to be baked the next morning. The food overall isnt that horrible its more that they treat their employees terrible and don't follow childrens labor laws.

Ever since SW cheapened out on their vegetables on their sandwiches, I refuse to darken their doorstep. Where you used to get 3 slices of tomatoes per 6" sandwich, they cut them back to only 2 slices. Used to be able to get a handful of green peppers, onions, pickles, etc, they now skimp on them giving you a small (emphasis on small) scattering and if you ask for more, they charged you for double. Turn to their meat and you can read a news paper through the slices as they are sliced so thin. Then they jack up the prices all the while cheapening their sandwich. SW drove me straight to Jimmy John's as they do not skimp on anything. The writings on the wall for SW, let's see how long it takes them to read it!

@myrn93865 жыл бұрын
i worked at subway for some time too and can agree on most of the things that were listed but i'd like to add some things green peppers and tomatoes might not be as fresh as you think since the vegetables that get ordered are often, especially in summer, already in a bad state and close to rotting mushy parts get cut off but the rest is still used the green peppers will also be extremely sticky and slimy if they are several days old so keep your eyes open for that mustard and ketchup are the sauces that get picked the least in most of the restaurants, they might get cooled most of the time but if your unlucky the content might be months old

I use to eat sandwiches on a regular basis I just go to the supermarket (preferably Publix for this) buy 1/2 of whatever lunch meat and cheese I'm feeling that week from the deli and a couple $1 baguettes from the bakery. I have shredded lettuce and condiments at home. I can make 3 sandwiches per 1. 5:1 Subway sandwiches since those are 70% bread

Having worked many places like these )fast food and big 5-star restaurants in the rich part of town) in high school and college I can say anywhere you go to eat will be like this I even worked in a big chain grocery stores. They did that with the salad bar and dressings too only lettuce and watermelon got thrown at night because it wouldnt look like it was fresh in the morning everything else got thrown out after 4 days. Dressings were always just refilled, Flies would end up in the food, and we were told just to pick out the flies, flip the food into a new container with new tongs, and it was put back. If you haven't made peace with this when you go out to eat its best to stay home and cook your own food. No, it doesnt't do any good to complain even to cooperate because what they tell you and what they do to correct this is too very different things. My friends and I compare horror stories about past jobs like this all the time.

I work for subway for over 10 years and all I have to say if you run into any of these issues(aside from the chicken) they aren't being trained right. I've never ran into any of these I've also been a manager at a few stores and I dont allow any of that. But well that's just my experience

You can still eat at Jersey Mikes. It still hasn't sacrificed quality and taste for profit. Subways, on the other hand, is the McDonalds of all sandwich chains. It used to be great back in the 90s. I remember getting footlong cold cuts for $5 and loving it back then. Now it's a tragic, pathetic shadow of what it once.
