What I Learned From CROOKLYN?
Crooklyn gives us an innocence slice of family life in the ghetto prior to gangs, guns and drugs, from the perspective of a 9 year old girl. Not only a classic but a hood treasure.
Released in 1994, Crooklyn is an a semi-autobiographical film produced and directed by Spike Lee and co-written with his siblings Joie and Cinqué Lee. The film takes place in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, during the summer of 1973.[2] Its primary focus is a young girl, Troy (played by Zelda Harris), and her family. Throughout the film, Troy learns life lessons through her four rowdy brothers (Clinton, Wendell, Nate, and Joseph), her loving but strict mother Carolyn (Alfre Woodard), and her naive, struggling father Woody (Delroy Lindo).
