I got it down... after 1.5 years of coming back to this, playing Steely Dan songs, Jamiroquai and such stuff, getting more and more chord voicings in muscle memory, I was able to play through it in C# fluently .. it pays off to understand the theory and never give up until you can make such voicing seemingly natural in your playing... thanks for the work you put into this video!!!

Because it seems that you know the subject "complex voicings AF😂" really well ,I would love it if you could send me more pieces with chords such as these ones.Salute my friend😊 P.S. If they are like the part at 2:34 I will appriciate it more😮

I've een playing along with this Bobby Caldwell song for months and months. I play almost every night. I never get tired of it. You have to be thinking all the time or it will go by you!!!! It taught me a lot, about altered chords and the voicings. Whoever you are, and it seemed this was from a couple years ago, you are great, and did a great job, showing the chord symbols, and the actual hands of the player , AND another keyboard above in color. Perfect design teaching tool

Man, the presentation you put together for learning this song is incredible. It took me a few weeks to get it perfect, but I finally nailed it. I'm gonna check out your other ones.Bless you for helping us learners. The KZbin way you have it, you can stop it at any chord and study it!!! There is a Gloria Estefan song you should do. I forget the name right now. Its a ballad. Thanx again!!!

I'm wondering if the C#7+5+9 could also be notated as C#7b13+9. Does anyone have any thoughts? I figure it's ambiguous since there's no 5 in the chord.

Hi! I know this video is super old, but I appreciate the transcription of this great version! QUESTION: in the chorus when it starts doing the new re-harmonies "Bmi7 - E9 - G#mi9 - C#7+5+9".. am I crazy or is that G#m9 supposed to be a DM9 or something like it? Thanks!
@CameronSpencer6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've just noticed that
@williams3942 Жыл бұрын
They both work. The G#m9 completes the 2-5-2-5-1 and the DM9 mimics the chorus. It works well to use them both for a slightly different feel. I think the DM9 leads into the C# a little more subtly.

So at the end of the bridge, at the "in my world" (1:38) lyric, he modulates...,that's not on the original recording right? I mean it's a great touch...,but this is something he did in later arrangements of the song...,I think...,unbelievable harmony, really...,If I wrote this song I would be so proud...,it's a lifetime achievement...,in 5:00 minutes....,
