What is the #1 thing that your Ego has been holding you back from?
@jimgoldfuss5255 жыл бұрын
As far as I have come, as much as I know and understand, the Ego still throws in that little voice to get me to question my abilities, and every so often, actually gets a foothold and takes me off point and off focus. It's frustrating.

*The trick is to be able to cooperate with and hold ego in check.* I don't think anyone can kill off the ego, that would be an end to the body that carries the consciousness. Just recognising the ego, being honest with the self and acting out of non-selfish state as much as possible is what we have to do. Creating value and uplifting others.

I need this reminder in my life DAILY! Really great message, Ed. Almost every single time I get annoyed with someone, I have to stop & ask myself what I want from this (domination/control/superiority/credit) & take it to God so that I can abandon what my flesh naturally wants to do. As much as I'd like to think that my self-awareness is on par, it doesn't change how much I struggle with my ego in this and seeking the FREEDOM to allow others to be who they are as if I need to "properly" evaluate them when they're doing something I deem annoying/offensive/etc. (aka my ego is ANNOYING!).

In an isolated, stressful world - the ego is on overdrive. Seeing a "perceived" world, one where most interaction is (sadly) viewed through others' propped up moments - ie, facebook/instgram. - or the masks we wear... has the ego work on overdrive w/ 'have not' syndrome. An ultimate irony is our social media world leads to a lonlier world... and in that world, an unchecked ego running thoughts unfiltered - through your mind - is the origin of disaster (on one's life). Your topic is so pinpoint. Your focus & passion on others, targting VITAL, core issues - is appreciated and required! Thanks.

Dude, Ed thank you. I needed this. I’m very aware of my ego, but it’s definitely still there. I’m a confident person, and I really like the person I am, yet I still struggle pretty deeply with a few of these oversized ego issues. I’m about to move to New York City, couch surf, and start documenting my life as I build a business. I truly can’t imagine not changing the world one day, you know. I’ve had this profound feeling of drive toward some greater thing as long as I can remember. It feels like a physical fire that’s runs so deep it actually defines my future and who I am. I can tell when you talk, you have it too. I know I’m on the right path toward that, but I don’t think I’d be this far along if it weren’t for you and a handful of others. Your practical approach and distillation of timeless advice is like no other. I know you get it it a lot, but you’ve helped changed my life, Ed. You’ve propelled me into territory few people go and for that I will always be greatful and humbled by your words and wisdom. 🙏🤘🏻 I will give you a hug one day in person, that I know. Haha. Much love. -Nick

Ego issues in life:- 1.Defensiveness 2.Always trying to be right in an argument. 3.Frequently bragging. 4.Revenge 5.Posessiveness. 6.Gossiping about others. 7.Obsession with outward appearance. 8.Bullying- beating people up into performing rather than elevating them into recognition 9. Seeking approval from others 10.Afraid of being alone 11.Easily offended by criticism 12.Constantly reciting the past. 13.Associating only with like minded people. 14.Constantly apologising for same thing. 15.Constantly think about other people's opinion about you. 16.Insecurity and inferiority
