Clearly a different experience with no engine noise but I can imagine roof down that could be quite enjoyable. Why people bought diesel roadsters so they could listen to a truck engine rattle along roof down I have no idea. Weighs about the same as a Jag F type of equivalent power, for comparison - and they’ve copied that interior handle from the F type also.

Anyone who thinks a diesel convertible is noisy has probably never driven one. They're not like a 1980s non-turbo diesel Peugeot.. 50mpg + and loads of torque when you need it makes a car thats great cross country and will effortlessley do very long trips without filling up every five minutes and you can't hear the engine when you're moving on a modern one. I don't really see much of merit in this MG. Side views ok, fronts fussy, rears gopping. Touch screens would pi** me off in two minutes as would the charging times and although its clearly quick in accelleration it doesn't seem to have much going for it in driver involvement but I suppose if you wanted that you wouldn't be buying an electric car in the first place.
@siraff44613 ай бұрын
@@mambastu Its the usual. Lots of look-at-me stuff to tell people in the office about but unlikely to be very nice to actually drive or own. The doors are a perfect example. They look cool and in a picture or on a spec sheet its great. Then its raining and you want to pop in a shop to grab a drink but you have to wait an age for them to open and close because its much easier to put a motor in them than to design an actual mechanism which would allow manual operation without problems. Same goes if you're carrying a baby and want to seat them or any of the other reasons people open doors quickly. Screens are just for cost cutting in most cases and this shows how no to do them. For me the worst thing is the chassis dynamics. When you have constant shudder and body roll thats a big red flag that the chassis design is flawed. One or the other can be suspension but both really points to poor design and development. Thats kind of the opposite of what you want in a supposedly sporty car. The 0-60 is great too until you have to stop to charge it (which will be not far if you're using the performance) where even a rattly old VW beetle form the 1960's will be able going past.

@tren1332 ай бұрын
With EVs you can get extra power almost for free, since a more powerful motor isn't that much more expensive or heavy than a less powerful motor. Hence even the base RWD single motor version has 350 hp. Handling is highly affected by weight, which is a challenge for EVs since they must haul around this heavy battery, although it is partially made up for by the fact that the heavy battery is in the floor, which lowers the center of gravity. I reckon the better buy is the single motor version, which is still plenty powerful, but will handle a bit better since it is lighter, which also gives an additional 40 miles of range. If you want truly better handling, you'd have to get a single motor version with a smaller battery, which would cut down on the weight by a lot, but most people would not accept a modern EV with say just 150 miles of range, and would rather take the bigger battery instead.

Tesla Roadster we are looking at you……😂 The Tesla won’t I bet drive as well, be as usable or as fun on a twisty road but absolutely roast this from a standing start that not many care about. I’d rather have a good driving Car 0-62 in 5 seconds than a poorly set up sports car that can do 0-62 in 2 seconds and Tesla will surly disappoint with its usual quirky gimmicks no one asked for or needs. I’d take this MG in a heart beat, thinking old military road Cairngorms that I drove a few weeks back and know well😮👍 Here MG if you give me that car for a loan I’ll drive the military road a few weekends and you’ll get a few hundred orders off the back as people see it park up or pass them 😂 Charging site in Braemar if you were on the road I think you were on.

I don’t understand the problem with controlling AC with the screen. It’s a modern car with climate control. For me, it’s set and forget. I rarely have to change it and if I do, there’s voice commands to do so.
@piobu53573 ай бұрын
I adjust it every time I get in the car, sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's not. Sometimes I need AC, and sometimes I'll just lower the windows when it's a few minute long drive. Most of the time I turn it off a minute before I arrive at the destination and vent the moisture away, at high fan speed, so it doesn't stink inside the next time I fire it up. I don't like how the Auto setting blasts air at max speed with closed circulation to get it to a low temp as fast as possible, as it's too loud - I'd rather set it to 3/4 speed myself and get to the low temp setting slightly longer. So leaving it on auto all the time is not for me. And then I fiddle with it during driving too if, for instance, my hands are getting cold from the AC vents next to the gauge cluster, or it's getting too hot. Long story short, it's there to make us comfortable and I use it all the time.

Don’t like all those screens and capacitive BS touch controls. I’ll take the proper gauges and real buttons in my MX5 anyday. Good example at 11:49 - he tries to adjust a control and the screen just ignores his first attempt and the only way he can tell it didn’t work is by taking his eyes of the road to look at the silly screen. Infuriating.

Same works the other way round though. If the Chinese came to a mutual zero tax agreement it would save people a lot of money. Of course the reason they don't is because then their domestic makers would have to compete directly with the rest of the world and on a level playing field they simply can't. For comparisson a 911 turbo in China will cost around £260k equivalent after taxes instead of the ~ £170k in the UK.

I struggle with that idea. Regardless if it gets cheap fast or not its a roadster. They are usually used as weekend/sunny day playthings (some are driven everyday too but most aren't) and as such they tend to spend a lot of time sitting about and do few miles. The idea that this will ever be a bargain is limited by how long that battery can last in those circumstances. Since most struggle to get past 8/10 years and sitting really doesn't help I can see a lot of these needing a battery at very low mileage. Given that thats a huge cost its hard to see how its ever going to be worth it over an ice like a Miata which is half the cost in the first place and highly unlikely to need major work for decades at low mileage. Yes this has more power but so do lots of cars - thats not why most people but a roadster.

I'm just tired of hearing nearly every car reviewers /journalists endlessly bitching about buttons with no end in sight for the past few years, just LET IT GO. Just show us the car and people can decide for themselves, also its not like most of us are here watching with interest to buy every car being shown, we love cars and we just want to be entertained save the button arguments for the dealership although I dont think most people care and if they do just buy a different car that has 300 buttons that you require to drive.
