Love the long reviews because it's as if we're chilling at bar drinking these amazing beers and talking about them! I find it very brave and courageous how you talk about your mom on here. Cheers Nick!

+P Fitzgerald YES!!!! You absolutely nailed it. That is exactly what I am aiming for with my reviews...and it is so nice to hear someone comment on that. My whole goal with my style of reviewing is to make it as relaxing and down to earth as possible...just as if we're hanging out drinking these beers together. Even if you don't have the beer I have in front of me...grab a beer and enjoy with me!!! Thanks for the comment about my Mom...that means a ton to me. It is extremely difficult to do, as you can imagine, but I find it incredible important to speak about loss and how real it is in my life so that others may remember to appreciate their loved ones just a little bit more than before. What a great comment all around. Thanks again!!!

Nick, I shared my first homebrew with my Mom when my daughter was born. That was almost 20 years ago. I lost my mom in 2008, and still miss her. I think about her nearly every day...and now almost always with smiles. My mom was NOT a craft brew person. In fact, she used to drink whatever was on sale, room temperature, with a straw! But she loved the fact that I loved to homebrew, and she always appreciated my beers. So, here's to you, your mom, and all moms who support us in our passions, obsessions, and love for craft beer. Cheers, bro.

+Dan Calzaretta Hey again Dan. I just responded to your comment on my update video right before this. That is again, another truly wonderful comment and it was nice for me to read about your Mom and your personal experience with her relating to craft beer. That is so cool you shared your first homebrew with her. I think what you said about missing her still but always thinking of her with a smile now...is sort of where I am heading. I still have a ways to go...but it is slowly edging in that direction. It is still very raw, shocking and fresh for me though...even after a year and a half. Cheers to all the incredible Mom's out there, and cheers to us for being so lucky to have had those experiences with ours. I try to keep in perspective how fortunate I was to have the time I did with her. Cheers again Dan.

Hey Nick - I wasn't prepared for the end of this video. I cannot imagine the daily grind you go through without your Mom. I cant imagine losing mine, and now having children of my own, I cannot imagine them losing theirs. I feel like we get caught up in the moment with beer, and we go crazy spending money, wasting time in lines, etc when really, its just beer. I know it doesn't mean much, but I'd give up my entire cellar of beer, and never buy another bottle again if it meant you could have your Mom back. I will say however, I'm glad great beer will always remind you of her, and that you have an awesome support group here in the beertube community. I know you said it had been a while since you had talked to her, but do me a favor, and don't let a day go by from here on out where you don't. We who still have our Mom's probably take that for granted. I know I'm guilty of that. Stay strong, my man. Cheers.

+Joe Senigaglia Hey Joe. This comment from you absolutely floored me...and honestly, brought me to tears. I know I don't know you very well dude, but I feel like you are a brother of mine for certain. What you said really gave me some motivation and positivity that I needed to hear. I'm so glad to be part of this small knit community of beertubers and beer lovers who are such genuine, incredible people. As I just spoke about in the video I just posted, all of the human connections formed because of this hobby of ours is far more valuable than the beers themselves. I definitely am in a better place now than I was before, and dealing with things...but it is constant struggle I am pushing through to make myself a better life...and to make my Mom proud. I do feel that when I share my experience, and be as open and raw as possible, hopefully it reminds people to keep things in perspective and acts as a healthy reminder of how lucky they are. I think it is wonderful that you still have your mother in your life, and that you have a family and children. I hope to get there myself one day man. Just putting one foot in front of the other right now...marching on. Not sure what else to say Joe except again...thank you for your inspiring and deeply thoughtful comment. It meant a lot to me brother. I hope to be able to have a beer with you and collab together next time i'm out in SoCal...and be sure to let me know if you're ever heading out my way. You've got a place to stay here and plenty of beers i'd be happy to share with you. Cheers.

Yeah, I got a little carried about with this one for sure, lol...but I am sincerely glad you enjoyed and went along for the ride with me. +Brew Review Crew - Craft Beer Reviews Hahaha. I felt like I found jesus while having this beer, it's true, lol. Dude, I'm sure you guys could get your hands on some TH cans without too much hassle. They are pumping out an absolute ton of Julius and Green lately. Just something decent that you have locally to you should score you a few cans to enjoy and review. Or pull something out of the cellar that you can let go of. Really, they are pumping out 450 cases of Dr. J and Green almost weekly now. Also Alter Ego is another one to get your hands on, which is a alternative version of Julius. I would love to see you guys do a Tree House showcase review someday! Cheers and thanks for watching!

Great review of these two beers! Love the fact that you allow them to warm up a bit and let out all the flavours and nuances. If you're ever interested in sending out any Treehouse beers to Malaysia let me know, we've yet to taste the wonder that is Julius!
@WhatCheersBeerReview9 жыл бұрын
+retepnajaratan Woah!!! Malaysia!?! That is incredible. Thanks for finding my channel and watching. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to send anything out that way for a little while, as I just recently sent out a huge box to Denmark to a fellow beer reviewing friend of mine. However, if you are seriously looking to trade for some Julius, I'm sure there are plenty of people with extra money that would be happy to ship to you out there for a reasonable deal. Thanks so much for watching and I'm really glad you noticed the appreciation for letting the beers warm up while enjoying them, and how important it really is to enjoy the whole experience. These beers can only be fully appreciated if left out to warm up over time. It is incredible how they evolve. It is all about those flavors and nuances! Cheers and thanks again.

Cheers for the reply and looking for to more of your reviews in the future.

Holy good mother of god that sounds good! I think we should start a crowdfund project to enable/invent smell-o-vision on KZbin, because i NEED to smell those beers. Very much considering a pilgrimage at some point to try at least the Julius! Cheers, Bear
@WhatCheersBeerReview9 жыл бұрын
+BearBeerReviews Hahaha. I'll get the GoFundMe started right now man!!! Smell-O-Vision!!! Perfect! Seriously, I wish it was real so much. It's truly one of the hardest things when reviewing these beers...you just desperately want every single person to experience what you are in that moment. Definitely make the trek to get regular Julius! They are pumping out a ton of it these days so it shouldn't be too hard for you to get some cans, or even just trade for them. They are really putting out about 450 cases of Julius almost every week now. That is a ton of cans. Cheers Bear!!!

Wow! I will definitely have to see if i can get a trade sorted out, would be awesome to give them a shot. If not, hopefully I will head out that way sometime soon. We recently had an awesome DIPA released by Cloudwater in Manchester, and i needed smell-o-vision in that review. It was just exactly what I hope Englush brewers move towards, but it is so hard to describe to people without them physically trying it. The trials and tribulations of beer reviewers eh? Bear

New sub. Just watched a few of your videos. I love Treehouse. Need to make it up there again from New York. Love all these fruit bomb IPA's coming from the Northeast lately. Tesseract from Grimm was similar too it I thought. I need to get my hands on King Julius. Regular Julius is one of my favorite beers of all time.

+enjoies05 enjoies05 Thank you for the sub and for the comment! Glad you found my channel and introduced yourself to a few of my vids. That's nice that you are within striking distance of TH being in NY. I actually can confirm what you said about Tesseract, as I just shot a review for that last week. It is absolutely a juice hop bomb as well, along with their Afterimage which I thought was phenomenal. I should be getting those reviews posted soon. Great to hear you've had regular Julius. It is certainly one of the best in the game. Hopefully you can snag a can of King Julius from a friend or perhaps trade for one! It is totally worth the experience! Cheers!!!

#HUNNITS !!!!!! DAT TREE HOUSE GAME ON POINT!!!! Man this sounds crazy, Julius is really nice, and probably deserving of a higher grade than what I gave it, when its super fresh. But man does King Julius sound crazy dude. Long review, but awesome to see you geek out on these bad boys. Also a nice little tribute to your mom man. Great review dude and cheers!
@WhatCheersBeerReview9 жыл бұрын
+The Master of Hoppets Hahaha. Tree House might as well be in another dimension, nevermind another universe. I have no idea what is possibly going on in the brewhouse to make beers like this a reality. Nah, you were good and honest about your experience with Dr. J. Remember man, those beers did get delayed quite a bit and were not refrigerated for a little bit...so your score was probably accurate. Still though, incredible as you had it even. Yeah, I really wish it wasn't so costly man, I would love to send you a can of this to check out. Hopefully they will rebrew it a little more frequently, and can it again as well. This is one that will absolutely stand up to Headroom for best DIPA ever. I try to remind people of just how lucky we are to have family and how important it is to keep things in perspective...I don't do it often anymore, but paying tribute to my Mom is something I should always do in the future every now and again. She certainly deserves every bit of airtime. Cheers Peter.

+Jeff Mattos Hey Jeff. Thanks for the comment and for watching man. Julius and Green are two of their biggest flagship beers, for sure. They release them both almost every other week now, and put out about 450+ cases of them at a time...which is a lot of cans. The best thing to do is to try and setup a trade with someone for them in exchange for some beers you have out where you are. They are well worth the effort to obtain, as Julius and Green are two of the best single American IPA's out there. Cheers man.

Beer trading can be really fun and addicting once you first get into it, haha. Good luck man! Cheers.

However, I absolutely understand that my reviewing style is not for everyone, and that is totally cool too. Hey man, love your reviews. How does this compare with Trillium's Headroom (loved your review of that as well), as far as being a game changer? I know the flavor profiles are different, but as far as being a major DIPA... I'm curious.
@Kelseylorelle9 жыл бұрын
KJ is better imo. There's a lot more complexity to it compared to the assault of hops in the front end of headroom which overwhelms any background flavors it may have.
@WhatCheersBeerReview9 жыл бұрын
+starclassic21 Hey! Thanks a bunch for the comment, and question. It is a great one for sure. Someone more recently also asked basically the same thing, so I am going to just copy and paste what I wrote to them above, to give my best explanation for you! Here it is: "The main difference between some of the best Trillium beers and the best Tree House beers is the soft, juicy elements. Tree House has a way of somehow making it seem like you are biting into a freshly cut tropical fruit salad...or perhaps drinking a freshly blended up tropical smoothie. With Trillium, it is somewhat similar...but usually the actual hop intensity is much stronger...and even pungent. They typically use Columbus as a background hop in almost all of their beers as well, which gives them a bit of a earthy, resinous subtle dank character. I think Headroom and King Julius would be a pretty close tie for best DIPA I've ever had. Again, the Trillium just being a big more intense overall with the hop character. It may just come down to the mood you are in for which you'd actually prefer if you had both in front of you. To actually describe the differences at such a high level as those beers is tough, especially if they aren't in front of you. It comes down to subtle nuances...but ultimately, Tree House makes the absolute craziest actual fruit juice tasting hoppy beers on the planet, while remaining incredibly soft and non-palate fatiguing. It is true artistry. I hope this response sort of helps. I tried! Cheers man." That is for right now, because I am exhausted at the moment, my best way of explaining things. I do hope that helps! Also, I really appreciate you enjoying my reviews, and glad you enjoyed the Headroom review as well. The King Julius was so good it literally was almost indescribable. So much real tropical fruit taste it was insanity. Feel free to write me anytime with any more questions or a follow-up question or comment. Cheers!

+Kelseylorelle Nice reply Kelsey with some solid comparative notes there. It's almost like you drink these beers and know what you're talking about. Almost ;-)

+WhatCheersBeerReview thanks for the response. I've had a few hoppy Tree House beers and a few hoppy Trillium beers I've received from trades (with Tree House Green being my favorite overall) and have really developed a taste for the New England style. There's really nothing like it on the west coast right now, especially the Seattle area where I'm from. Really hoping to try King Julius at some point and hopefully Headroom if it's ever brewed again. Again, thanks for making these videos. I've learned a lot by watching and your passion for craft beer is contagious! Cheers, Nick!

+starclassic21 Thank you so much for the support and kind comment again. I am really happy to hear you have been able to take away some positive beer knowledge from my reviews...that to me is what it's all about!!! :) I try to keep the passion and excitement palpable so that everyone can feel like they're trying the brews with me. That is excellent that you've been able to try some hoppy beers from Tree House and Trillium. They are truly making some of the very best hoppy beers anywhere on the planet...and some of the best non-hoppy beers on the planet also!!! The New England style sure is addicting...once you have it...there is almost no turning back. You become ruined! Lol. It is pretty wild. I do hope that this style of brewing reaches more places in the West Coast. I think eventually it will, although it may take some time. There is a brewery in San Francisco called Cellarmaker that I visited over the Summer that I feel had the same type of style going as what we have out here. Super juicy, soft and hoppy and dry. I know the beer scene is pretty big out where you are...so I wouldn't be surprised to see some popping up in the near future brewing up in the New England style sooner than later. Keep me posted for sure, and I also hope you get to try King J at some point and Headroom! Cheers.

KJ gets a big :thumb: from me. Not necessarily my favorite DIPA just based on flavor profile (for the same reason Julius isn't my favorite IPA, I'm on team Green), but it hits every mark as far as being the perfect double version of Julius. Agreed, totally absurd that it's 8.2%.
@WhatCheersBeerReview9 жыл бұрын
+ohjesussaveme Awesome comment...and I completely can see where you are coming from. And yes, as far as being the perfect Double J...they couldn't have nailed it any harder. Can I assume that Very Green is your favorite DIPA so far? That beer is absolutely ridiculous as well...and I'd love to review it again some day. And yeah, the 8.2% is completely absurd. It's all juice and lies! Haha. Cheers.

+WhatCheersBeerReview Didn't get a chance to try that, unfortunately. I tried your side by side after seeing this. To be honest, after a few sips had a very hard time distinguishing. It was a fun experiment, but I wasn't really up to the task. For whatever reason Haze just clicks perfectly for me. I like my DIPAs with a little bite. Grey Sail's Captain's Daughter is up there when it's perfectly on point, but it's far too inconsistent. I had one growler that was unreal good, and then had others that ranged from just good to very good. Not sure if they've dialed that in a bit. Was also a huge fan of Grimm's After Image. Just a lot of good beer out there.
