The thing that pissed me off about Carl's death is it wasn't done to move the storyline forward, it was done because of drama off screen. Glenn and Abraham's death served a purpose, it introduced us to Negan. Carl survives a gunshot to the torso, and later to the head, has fought off dozens of walkers surrounding him, yet gets bit when he's fighting off only 2 walkers!?!? It's a slap in the face to viewers, the show, and Chandler himself. I'm not going to stop watching the show but I'm not going to cry if it gets cancelled either.

Carl is the Clementine of the TV-series. You kill her, it's game over. You kill Carl, you may as well just put a bullet in Rick, because his character's entire reason why he went on to survive in that insane world is because he had a family to find and protect. Now the wife and son he sacrificed his sanity for are both dead, and his daughter is stuck with the husk of a man that has lost too much to ever be the father she needs him to be. Killing off Carl was the wrong move made for the wrong reasons and is the final reason I needed for why I shouldn't even bother trying to catch up with this show. It's over. I'm out. They play the song "My Darling Clementine", which is literally about a girl called Clementine who drowns. The last episode's image is of her hat by a river with a bunch of zombies in the background - it's the only one in that game to not feature her in person. And on top of that, ever notice how this season's paying a lot less attention to who Clementine is, and a lot more attention to the kind of person A.J.'s going to become? There is definitely at least one ending where she dies. They wouldn't employ all this foreshadowing for no reason.

When Rick tells Negan about what happened, Negan LITERALLY SAYS "That kid was the future". So, yeah, they botched so many things in just one fell swoop. It was beautiful and sad how they played his death, but at times it felt streched and honestly, stupid. It was manipulitive, it played with our emotions and, honestly, it was a bit cheap and cynical. It was shocking for the sake of being shocking, and i, as someone who sticked with the show even after so many of those cheap shots, feel a little less love for the show and a lot more resentment towards the showrunner that keeps doing the same thing, over and over.

Just read that Chandler Riggs is going off to college so makes more sense now though still sucks Carl is gone. Really though the show has only been slightly better than loosely based on the Graphic Novels. In the comics Rick is banging Andrea (who Is long dead in the show) and Daryl dose not even exists. With all the changes behind the camera as well with season 9 looks like they may be looking to get one more and wrap it up for this one. They still have Fear the Walking Dead to drag on a bit and Better Call Saul is just now getting into the Breaking Bad years which should be good and hype that show.

I don't feel so much that is the issue, rather than it is going to far yes with axing off main roles on the show and on top of that deaths that make no sense. Fans were on a up roar about Glen's death and cried like babies. Without realizing in the comics Glen's death had a purpose. He was the first big loss for the group and it was Negan's very shocking introduction. Negan was actually far worse in the comics than they portrayed him on the show minus Glen's death which they did a great job at. I was not happy about Glen's death as he was one of my favorite characters, and I shed tears. BUT...his death made fucking sense and any loyal comic book walking dead fan knew that. Any smart show watching fan also knew the impact of that death and still continued watching the show. Now The Walking Dead producers and writers of the show are just choosing to commit suicide for monitory gain. Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show so end the fucking show you morons.

That would actually be interesting. The Walking Dead has been rehashing the same plot over and over again. Rick and Company meet bad people, fight bad people, win, meet more bad people who are tougher, and fight them bad people. In season one, when they went to the CDC to dig for answers or later when Eugene claimed he had a cure....that's when the show was the strongest. What's keeping these rehashed plots from failing is the dialogue, acting, and interactions of the characters. But this show is not going anywhere right now, literally. They've been travelling the same five miles of road for almost a decade.

Carl was a great and important character who had endless potential. That’s why he was always my favorite. I kept waiting for him to get his time to shine. On a better written show, he would’ve been the most interesting and complex character to write for. But this show had no idea what to do with Carl after S4, so they decided to shaft his character entirely, build him up for one episode, and then kill him. That’s just baaaad. As soon as they finally gave Chandler actual material to work with, he did incredibly well with it. The fans were too harsh on him and Carl as a character when this show never even gave him the proper opportunity to grow as an actor/character until he was on his freaking deathbed. Now we’ll never know how it could’ve been. He was riiiight on the cusp of a lot of possible big arcs! JDM said that a huge reason why he signed on to play Negan in the first place was for the interesting Carl/Negan dynamic! He said he’ll forever be upset that they only scratched the surface of it and I fully agree. We invested 8 years into Carl’s story... our protagonist’s son... and in the end we only got to see the tip of the iceberg from him. He deserved so much better. It’s a waste all around and it sucks. In the comics, Carl lives and his sister dies. Because Chandler Riggs is clearly much older now than his character is supposed to be, it makes sense that they'd switch the two in the show, having Carl die and have his role replaced by his sister.

We don't know how long the time skip will be on the show, and Judith is older than just a baby now. It's been what, a year on the show since the prison? Less? But Chandler Riggs has clearly aged more than one year, and it looks like they've aged Judith along with him, because she doesn't look like an infant. I don't think they really have any choice but to age Judith now so that she'll be something like 10-12 after the time skip and can do the stuff Carl is doing in the comics.

Well yes and no. TWD as bad as it got, it's not as bad as SN. TWD has a little more to offer (Negan's end, or zombies end or everyone dies and that's it.). As far as I know TWD will continue for 1 or 2 more seasons. There was an interview with the creator of the comics. While SN *SPOILERS MADAFAKAS* started with demons, devil, angels, death, lucifer, leviatans, search of God, SISTER OF FUCKING GOD and now some british guys are bigger enemies than a godlike being? AND IT'S STILL GOING. They've revived half the cast and killed it like 50 times. I was a big fan, but this season I didn't even started it.

I've always felt like we were getting an insight into watching a child grow up in the apocalypse, fighting for his very survival, making decisions that really a child shouldn't be expected to make, to me he came across as someone who at first would execute you with stone cold indifference, however as he grew up would begin to question himself and his father on the rights and wrongs of killing non walkers, just because they were unknown to the family group. I feel that at the point where he rescued Siddiq , this could have been further explored, especially with Negan. Carl was definitely becoming more diplomatic than his dad, who has now come to make decisions based on a whim.

Glen and Carl's death wasn't the reason of The Walking Dead losing viewers.The main reason was the Show's story line got very very slow Plus got so boring.They had killed more interesting characters that's what Walking Dead was from the start but it got so slow, remember it was on its peak when they show was at good pace in story ,The Gareth character introduced and killed, they used to move story at a good pace.I reckon they'd get this style back and TWD will be back on track

It's like saying that show that used to be good and now suck ass, but it's still more popular than other TV shows. Shows don't just need to stay popular, but people have to stay invested. And the ratings keep going down. The problem is they have no idea how this story is gonna end.

I think they're winding us up for Rick's death... they can't survive on his arc any longer. Maggie, Michonne, Morgan/Carol are the most moving character arcs going forward... they can't take Grimes much farther than he's been. Of course Daryl will be backing every story arc going forward and may end up in the forefront by the end of season 10, which I think will be the final season.

I can only speak for myself, but if Rick dies, I'm done with the show. It started with Rick and it should end with Rick imo. There's no character that can replace him to me, not Michonne, not Maggie, not Daryl not even Negan.

Rick's daughter died in the comics but lived in the show. Rick's son died in the show but lives on in the comics. Pretty obvious where they're going with this for the successor to Rick in the different mediums.

BigGeekEmpire if you think that's what they were actually planning Sorry Dude but you're dead wrong the actor that plays Carl (Chandler Riggs) father came out openly on Facebook and said after the mid-season finale that Carl is dead and they technically fired him because he wanted to go to college and have a proper education he was still willing to do the show and he was hoping AMC and the showrunner could have found a way to balance him going to college and him being on the show but they decide to fire him/kill him off instead and they did this to him a few days before his birthday which was a Dick-Move & a dumbass move which led too the showrunner Scott Gimple being fired for his idiotic decision if you think there's a deeper meaning for all this you're crazy I would understand if they killed him for story and character reasons or they did this because something like this happen in The comic book or because of the things that you said about a successor BUT they did it because of money and business & I know that's important in a TV series but you're supposed to find a good balance of the 4 and Scott only just focused on those two which let him him get fired and we just have to admit the show is done
