As much as I dislike Snyder films, his Watchman film was awesome. I do think his Dawn of the Dead remake is overrated. The opening scene sequence was a lot of fun, but the film itself was stripped down and lacking in character development, story, and setting which are all strengths of the original. Also, the original was a politically charged film - given it explores the political developments of social and political developments and conflict during the outbreak of a zombie pandemic. But the remake (like most recent films) is politically sanitized.

The "Save Martha!" scene probably would've worked better if Superman had just said, "Save my mom" or something, and if they'd filmed it in such a way that it looked like he was exhausted and nearing death. You could've had a moment where Batman has a "Am I the bad guy?" realization and then decides that he can't go through with it.
@bkr89323 күн бұрын
Thought the same thing, “please save my mom, her name is Martha” would have absolutely worked; the concept wasn’t bad, it was the execution
@Ailar22093 күн бұрын
Or, in a rational, non-comics world, Superman would've just straight up stated before the fight started "Lex Luthor is manipulating us into doing this. He has my human mother held hostage where I can't find her. What did he do to get you into this?", at which point Batman should've immediately realized that stealing that Kryptonite from Luthor was just a bit too easy. And even if he didn't, Alfred, who was listening in, would've gone "hey, wait a second, Master Bruce". The way they set up this fight was ridiculously contrived, is what I'm sayin'... At least in the graphic novel from which they lifted (the idea, if not the execution of) this fight, they had a good reason for throwing down. It was basically Clark's way to allow his friend to go out on his own terms

The Martha moment isn’t the worst thing about Batman vs Superman; it was just a very stupid way to end Batman fighting Superman, and gave people something easy to laugh at, and meme. The main problem with BvS is…almost everything else: it’s dull, po-faced, and overly long, with incredibly unlikeable characters, and one of the worst, most annoyingly grating main villains in all of cinema history. Zach Snyder is one of the worst storytellers to have ever helmed major films; he is completely style over substance, seemingly preferring to focus on how things look, rather than telling a cohesive story. I could go on, about everything that is wrong with BvS, but it doesn’t deserve to be given that much time; it’s best left forgotten completely.

The one that got me recently was Ridley Scott blaming the Zoomers for why "The Last Duel" flopped. I'm a Gen X and I thought it sucked too. I think the Zoomers were lucky that they didn't go see it, it was boring AF. Yet, for Ridley, it's those youngin's that -didn't get off his lawn- I mean, those young people that didn't watch his films, fault for it failing. Of course it would have nothing to do with the story or the writing or even the director for making a boring movie... it's those bloody kids. So many directors blame everyone else for their horrible creations, but never where it truly belongs, on themselves. Not every thing they create can be gold, get over themselves.
