A really late comment but I actually enjoyed that episode. It was very interesting. People with DID usually have more than one personality and one of those personalities are usually called "protectors", and the Judge can be interpreted as that.

Nevermind any of that, there is no plastic surgery for mental scars. There are 3 possible fates established by DC: healed and married, dead by suicide, still on Arkham/still TwoFace. In Batman: The Dark Knight Animated (not really sure which one, the first or the second) he went under plastic surgery but his mental health remained scarred resulting in troubling cases..

In Batman:TAS/New Batman Adventures there is a short arc introducing a new character called The Judge, who begins a one-man-war against Gotham's criminal underworld and Two-Face in particular. At the end of the arc, however, it's revealed that The Judge is actually Two-Face himself- more specifically a THIRD personality created by Harvey Dent's subconscious to counteract his darker half, to such extent that neither Two-Face or The Judge knew they were the same person.

You neglected to mention that Harvey Apollo's turn as Two-Face was very short-lived...he was introduced in the Batman Sunday newspaper comic strip...after a few weeks,his criminal career ended with his accidental death. He was also considered for a villain on the 1960's Batman TV series....believe it or not,Clint Eastwood was proposed to play him...but the show's producers felt he didn't fit the kid-friendly tone of the show.

The reason he didn't get plastic surgery is explained in batman animated series. There was an operation planned to fix the damage. However, Two-face thought that if the physical damage was fixed, he as the alternate personality would disappear as well. Because of that, he organized his own abduction from the hospital, and the procedure didn't happen. He would never allow himself to undergo plastic surgery willingly.

To your first point, plastic surgery was addressed in both the "Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel by Frank Miller and in the ever so amazing "Batman: The Animated Series" (which is the single best incarnation of Batman and I will fucking fight anyone who says different) In the former, Harvey Dent was given plastic surgery to "make both sides match" and, due to his insanity, he thought that the doctors had scarred both sides of his face. In the latter, there was an incredible episode entitled "Second Chance", in which Harvey Dent, having mostly suppressed the Two-Face personality, is about to receive surgery to fix his face in order to more fully give him control over his dissociative identity disorder. However, the surgery is interrupted by thugs hired by Harvey Dent's worst enemy: Two-Face!

His real name is Joe Coin ( with a name like that you can guess what era this was) but the authors thouhgt he was out dated a wrote him and gave the penny to Harvey.

Very good vid, learned a lot about HD/2F. Considering that the character revolves around an origin story, the writers should have established his appearances as non-canon and kept retconning through the decades.
