Im for this! I was just playing scholar of the first sin the other day and was running through everything trying to get to dragon aerie to get my dragon tooth (I decided to go through all 3 games as a Havel Disciple) and totally missed the one in the lost bastille. I went through 90% of the game using a greatsword when I could have used my choice weapon since about 30% through. 🙃

There is a special layer of hell reserved for whomever invented the Baby Carriage Bomb in Fallout 3. I mean, think of the implications: you only get hurt if the recorded cry of a helpless baby draws you close enough to the carriage. So that means this trap explicitly weaponizes a person's decency against them, because... why, again? Does it accomplish anything that an ordinary mine wouldn't? Does it protect an area any better than a locked door? So it kills off ONLY good-hearted people, while at the same time training survivors that pity and empathy for others are foolhardy. It makes the world quantifiably worse just by existing.

Maybe the humble stick from Breath of the Wild? Sure the deku stick is weak in all the Zelda games, but in botw it's even more useless. You have to be incredibly desperate to have it equipped, and your enemy has to suck extra bad to lose to something that straight up doesn't have enough durability to do any meaningful damage

The thing about Manhunt and Manhunt 2 is, you are supposed to be repulsed. The protagonist doesn't come naturally to the horrors he has to inflict, which makes the things he has to do to please the Warden a new plateau of psychological horror. It is an absolutely genius series that still stands today as a real moral squirm inducer, and when something makes you feel at that level it is true art.

@@SaiyanAndre when playing any souls-like or RPG it's always a good idea to have multiple saves. Not only for when you encounter a fun boss but also for doubling back. A lot of the time (mostly in Final Fantasy, at least for me) I get stuck in an area I'm too low level for and can't get out of. Having an older save lets me leave the area and gives me time to level up and prepare.

I'd add Proboscis Cernos, from Warframe, to the list: it is a disgusting organic bow that shoots a pulsating tumor that, in turn, shoots grasping tentacles that pull enemies towards it... and then the tumor explodes.
@Foxxie0kun
@Foxxie0kun Жыл бұрын
Also, the damage types involved in the Proboscis Cernos include both Slash and Toxin. The tentacles rip flesh apart to cause bleeding as well as infecting wounds with toxins, and the explosion is an exceptional bit of overkill. It only takes one elemental mod to change Toxin damage to Viral (Viral status effects make the enemy more vulnerable to all other damage sources, which is incredibly effective when paired with Slash damage which causes Bleeding, since Bleeding ignores all armor values), and one's ability to increase the damage, status chance values, and even add additional effects with weapon mods means it was at one point considered close to META. Sadly other AoE weapons have rendered it mostly irrelevant to META chasing types, it's still a very effective weapon when paired with the right Warframe, Secondary Weapon, and Melee Weapon.

The chainsword could literally be interchanged with the chainsaw bayonet from Gears, loved using that. Also it isn't a weapon, not in the traditional sense but the fact in cyberpunk I can literally get someone to kill themselves is pretty high up there.

Quickhacking in Cyberpunk is INCREDIBLY scary conceptually. Either force someone to shoot themselves in the head, detonate one of their grenades in their own hands, or even worse, instantly drive them cyberpsycho so they attack their former allies with everything they've got (Which is especially terrifying for their nearby colleagues/comrades/friends).

How about a list of difficult bosses who were actually really easy once you figured out a specific mechanic/weakness/exploit? A couple examples I think of are: 1) The final boss in Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), who can be a challenge until you figure out that for whatever reason he has zero defense against a jumping hard slash and you can just spam that until he dies without fail. 2) The Fear in Metal Gear Solid 3, who I've heard many a tale of how difficult an early boss he is because he's camouflaged, moves quickly, can climb kill and eat the fauna around to heal himself, has traps strewn about the area, and can cause you to bleed out with his arrows, which is basically like inflicting you with poison (and we know how annoying that is, per this list). When you google him you see several forum posts asking for tips on beating him. A lot of people spend time getting rid of the animals around and/or replacing them with rotting/poisoned food, setting off traps early so you won't have to deal with them later on, etc. to prepare for him. But it turns out you can essentially ignore your environment, stand in the center area where you start, and just focus on him, following him with your aim as he jumps across the trees, then just shooting him when he stops on a branch preparing to shoot you. When I figured it out, he went from one of the hardest bosses in the game to me being able to take him out in about 27 seconds, and it was pretty replicable so it wasn't any sort of fluke haha.

8 Dungeons you definitely needed a guide for. I'm asking for the water dungeon from Zelda to be excluded as it's been mentioned to death. I offer up instead the final dungeon in a little-known JRPG from the PS2 called Okage. The dungeon is not only massive, it's shrouded in fog and you have frequent enemy encounters while lost in the fog. I printed out a guide, but because of the constant ghost encounters and dying, I finally gave up (and by the way, on the PS2 version of the game, there was NO way to skip the dialogue! You could press X to move past everything quicker, but you couldn't outright skip it. I believe the PS4 port finally fixed this, but I've not played that one to confirm).

Barring the very few times you find one that is just sitting by itself, all other instances of the shell are acquired from a live Koopa Troopa...now I don't know if you all know this, but turtles aren't exactly "removable" from the shell. Mario would literally have to rip the live turtle out of it, essentially like ripping a body out of it's own skin.... So yea, pretty damn horrifying all things considered....

I knew the Cerebral Bore would be on this list, but it’s actually only the first of a family of weapons in the Turok series. Turok 3 had the Cerebral Burst (shorter fuse to entire upper body removal, if I remember right) and the Cerebral Possessor (take temporary control of an enemy and see through their eyes… at least until the fuse burns down and their head blows off). But the Swarm Bores from Turok Evolution take the cake. Five clusters of, essentially, nanites that swarm a target and burrow into the neck and the base of all four limbs; after much painful digging, the limbs blow off… slowly. One. By. One. And only THEN does the fifth group end the suffering by taking the target’s head off.

A list about cool game mechanics that were only used once, but should be implemented more often. From ‘Borderlands: the Pre-sequel’: The “Grinder" machine allows players to deposit combinations of existing weapons to receive one of higher rarity. I always thought this was super cool because of how you could put in different weapons types for a random weapon effect outcome, or stack them. There were so many combos you could try, and they came with unique skins as well. It added player creativity into making weapons instead of just selling them. Thanks Jules😊🎉

If you didn’t find them in time, we’d detonate them! In halo, when fighting a boss or hunters, we’d come up with handicaps to fight with to make the fight more challenging! I felt number 1, I'm currently playing Diablo 4 and trying to max the 2 handed sword technique for extra bleed damage on my barbarian which means I'm basing my entire kit around 2 handed sword attacks, which means a LOT of bleed. So I basically death by 1000 cuts enemies while being too tanky and Healy to kill

As much as I like the Poison type in Pokémon I agree about poisoned weapons / poison attacks being the worst. It was especially troubling as a child in the early Pokémon games where your Pokémon would continue losing health after battles and the screen would flash until you managed to run/surf/fly to a Pokémon center !

For the shark attack; I don't think " suffocate" does it justice. It is akin to being placed in space with no suit. The millisecond you breath in, there will be nothing. As in drowning, you are breathing in water. Than choking to death.

One thing i would add to the cerebral bore entry is the sound it made after it made contact with the target. That horrible dentist drill like buzzing mixed with the crunching and squelching always made me squirm.
