There's this comical, ultra whimsical JRPG from the PS2 called Okage about a boy losing his shadow to an "evil shadow king"...named Stanley. You would expect a more fearsome name for such a being, lol. The game wasn't the greatest, if being honest, though. Frequent random encounters, especially in dungeons, could make them a real slog, and that's on top of each one being a puzzle/maze. Back on the PS2, there wasn't a way to skip the dialogue...so should you die, you had to keep jabbing X to get past all of the inevitable talk before a fight/dungeon. And both of these issues came to a head for me at the final dungeon, and I actually never finished the game (I also remember even printing out a guide of the dungeon and the image took up 3/4 of the printer paper...it was huge, obscured in fog, and you couldn't take ten steps without having to fight off enemies). I'm going to assume the boy gets his shadow back, though 😅 The game was re-released on either PS3 or PS4, however, so someone out there didn't just let it die on the prior console. And it seems that the ability to skip the dialogue was added from what I've read, so huzzah to that. I'd like to meet someone else who's played the game and to give it a little love in a top 10 list. It was one of those "Not AAA games" that the PS2 was notorious for, but was just "okay", but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Now, everything is hyper-focused on being a AAA title. Since when was just getting an A not enough? 😅

Trust no important characters outside Hurk in Far Cry. Just trust no one. And the worse part is, you cant even canonically kill most of the people who are traitors in these games. Citra was just as crazy as her brother in 3, the two options at the end of 4 were arguably worse than Pagan, Deputy Nancy in 5, Miguel betrays the group in 6, and Juan is true to his traitorous spymaster nature at the end, and then there is Bembe who you are forced to help and just let him walk away.
