Hogan also refused to lose at WCW Bash at the Beach 2000 vs Jeff Jarrett for the WCW world title & this led to Jarrett laying down in the middle of the ring & Hogan pinning him to win the title as part of a shoot angle. However what Hogan didn't anticipate was that Vince Russo would curse him out for real afterwards. Hogan then sued WCW & Russo for defamation of character which never went to court because WCW went out of business. Heck there is an entire Dark Side of the Ring episode on this whole incident.

Steve Austin’s is actually the most forgivable and understandable imo. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to do the job for Brock, it was just that he wanted to make a story out of it, and make some money off what was left of his major draw status. Which I would assume from a business standpoint is the logical thing to do. Even if Steve felt his character had started to grow stale in 2002 he was still a mega box office draw for the company.

Shawn Michaels wasn't necessarily wrong though. I think him refusing to lose to Vader is worse than him refusing to lose to the British Bulldog. Neville refusing to lose to Enzo Amore again was also a good thing because he went with the alternative of staying home and it worked out for him.
