Seeing as wrestling is cyclical (we're seeing rehashed storylines day in and day out, just with slightly different talking points and different performers involved), I have a sneaking suspicion that the Paul Bearer kidnapping was just a rehash of when the Dudleyz and Heyman did it previously (in 2004). All three had the opponents focusing on Bearer and two of them (I don't recall the Edge version ending with Bearer being "dead") had the "hero" save the manager...only to "kill" him themselves.
