When Reno said they knew people 800 years ago they were probably referring to knowing them before Discovery jumped from the 23rd to 32nd century.

I agree completely, but I also think Reno could be a lanthanite given her history even before the jump to the 32nd century.

Solid episode. Increasingly solid series - just in time for, well, you know. Thank you, Eric, for another good review. Really appreciate it!

Commodore Decker also rammed a shuttlecraft down the throat of the doomsday weapon in TOS; if you're thinking that's how Rayner is going to go out.

The problem with the "Seven of limes" reference is that Discovery jumped 900 years into the future long before Anikka Hansen was born, never mind Seven of Nine. Being a Lanthanite does not explain this in any way imaginable.

I really liked your suggestion about Reno possibly being Lanthanite. It fits very well. Especially as she recites her past resume' of life experience to Tilly

Re: Easter eggs? Someone else noted that the year 2371 is important. The year Voyager was snatched, the Dominion War in DS:9 and the Enterprise D at Veridian III.

I really liked this episode as well and agree that it was nice to see much more development of the overall story to make this much more interesting all the while doing it within a very important episode which had plenty of suspense and action for me. Agreed that in previous seasons they didn’t do this. Last season was terribly frustrating as even though the big bad was a serious big bad, I was lost on the connections everyone had to the consequences and ultimately lost interest. This season is solid we’re definitely progressing nicely and have officially learned that you have a serious thing for Red Heads

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone have a favorite out-of-context quote from Star Trek? Mine is "Get the cheese to Sickbay". From Voyager, "Learning Curve". S1, E15.

I don’t blame you for wanting to point out your theory about Rayner making a great sacrifice later, but when you try to support it by pointing out a scene in the Discovery trailer it starts to border on a spoiler. In fact I have had several great moments spoiled for me by predictions made in the comments section that turned out to be correct, to the point that I started avoiding them more. I agree with you about Rayner’s possible fate but certainly had not come to that conclusion myself, a heads up about your theory would have been nice because I probably would have skipped ahead. Otherwise enjoyed the episode as per usual.

To be fair; I postulated the same theory last week without mentioning the scene in the trailer. So I don't think it is a spoiler, I am just guessing as to what is going to happen to the character given his current arc and the fate of similar characters recently (Hemmer, Shaw).

Yes I saw that, so you’re right it’s a callback, I know it’s just a guess but you could definitely be right. I’m just mentioning it because once I was reading the comments about an early episode of Mr. Robot and one of the comments was just as insightful as yours and ended up being right to boot, a major spoiler as it turned out his father was all in his mind. Something I never imagined until I read it.

Tilly to me is boring so I have the opposite opinion of her being in Starfleet Academy. However, I just don't see how that series could be made interesting to me.

The Breen, or however you spell it, are just reheated Klingons on steroids from the first season…very disappointing 😔
