The development of Seven of Nine is nothing short of BRILLIANT! Not only is she a far more complex and interesting character, it feels organic. I don't know how much Jeri Ryan thought about what Seven's journey would be like, but she sure acted like she had a deep sense of it. CAPTAIN Seven got there the old-fashioned way: she EARNED it!

Absolutely. And just better writing that goes somewhere with consistent characters. I hope the lesson the studio gets from this is not that they shouldn’t introduce new characters or try new things, the lesson should be that the writing has to be solid and consistent with the franchise (otherwise you fall into the trap Star Wars fell into and was only rescued by Andor).

Regarding Matalas's 'Star Trek Legacy' my sense is that in being a ship based story - the 'legacy' aspect doesn't simply relate to TNG, DS9 & VOY characters, but instead to the 'character' which was the 24th Century (now 25th) time period. In this period we could visit DS9 herself and various other legacy locations- additionally, S.T.L. would hopefully be serialised - standing in contrast to S.N.W's. But most importantly - a 'legacy' series would be made by people who truly understand & honour Roddenberry's vision of Trek in a manner which we many millions of 'legacy Star Trek' fans are missing, wanting if not aching for - Matalas's work in Season 3 of Picards stands as the BEST Kurtzman era Trek so far created: time for more!

The Titan crew is very likable. Shaw is great. I love Sidney LaForge. Seven getting a new show is a win for me. I do think Star Trek should take on the ‘miniseries’ model instead of chasing ‘seven season standard’. It makes for more qualitative storytelling. Legacy can fit that model.

I definitely agree--less is more--seasons of 8-10 episodes is plenty. And Terry Matalas needs to bring in some writers who aren't so ham-fisted and obvious in their dialogue writing. I think the stories and characters in Picard Sea. 3 were great, but the dialogue was often excruciatingly explicit about characters' emotions as well as hampered by a lot of pscychobabble. Just one small but illustrative case in point: in the final episode Worf says at one point to Riker: "It is a good day to die with honor." The "with honor" is completely gratuitous--as if the writers were afraid we wouldn't understand Worf's warrior ethic implicitly, if he had just said--as in fact he usually said on the original TNG--"Today is a good day to die." This sort of overwriting happens all the time in Season Three and almost had me give up in the first few episodes, but the story and the characters kept me coming back. This is Star Trek, you can assume a certain intelligence from your audience.

Honestly, as much as I like Ryan and her characters, history is a good teacher. Ryan does small bits well, but she has a tendency to fully actualize boss babe energy, and to such an extent, after you're past her obvious physical eye candy, 'you end up having to feed her and put up with her subtle serious nagging M.O..., if you take my meaning.' .. Note: You typically have to have been married to somebody who looks, sounds, and acts like Ryan to fully appreciate my comment. I think Spock said it best in the episode, Amok Time, when he remarked: \\// - Spock : Stonn, she is yours. After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.

The Titan crew need their own show. Her crew are so fleshed out and complex for only having so much screen time. Terry Matalas and company have shown that you can harken back to the days of character driven scenes of the TNG era and come out the other end having created something great. Sure, the action is fun, but it's all fluff without a cast to get to know and care for.

people like jack? his whole character is like a schroedinger's cat. he both did and didnt exist in the head canon on fans shipping Picard and Crusher post TNG (or post nemesis at least). but then some one took a look into that box and he did exist. but in a way that was so disturbingly alien too the characters personalities. I dont care what bs line they fed, about keeping jack safe because "muh picard legacy". Beverly wouldnt of kept a whole ass son, away from Picard. especially considering that in spite of all that danger, from "muh picard legacy" she knows just how capable he is as a man, to protect his own too the best of his abilities. She knows this, FIRST HAND, serving as his chief medical officer, regardless of situation that resulted in her husband's death, because she knew Picard fought his hardest too protect his friend/her husband, too. so keeping the kid hidden, doesnt make ANY sense. i hate the character because of it. there's flaws and bad decisions. and then there's rewriting character personalities, and Jack is the canon fodder that resulted from that character rewrite.

I think continuing this storyline could work pretty well. If it were me, what I would be inclined to do is let SNW do what it’s doing (although I want to see them be more mindful of the pre-TOS continuity, to clean up the mess Discovery left in its wake by continuing to pivot the timeline back towards a universe we recognize-i.e. the reveal of the USS New Jersey on Picard proves that, yes, the original Connie still existed). Meanwhile, allow “Legacy” to be the dark Trek, a la DS9, much as Picard has already been. Let it essentially be “Star Trek: X-Files,” “Star Trek: Conspiracy.” You got the right characters for it: Raffi (Ms. Conspiracy Theorist, herself), Seven (who like Raffi, spent years living on the seedy outskirts of the Federation), Jack, same thing. You got our lovable dipshit from Chicago who followed all the rules only to find out it was all a lie. You got the perfect formula-and if they want to bring in Section 31 with Michelle Yeoh (if they still afford her!) then THIS would be the place to do it. Who’s to say she didn’t land in the 25th century? Perfect place to bring back DS9 characters, who already know the Federation isn’t as squeaky clean as early TNG Picard once believed. A perfect setup to feature characters who know that the truth is sometimes very grey.

Star Trek Legacy is something I have said should have been done for years. You could have O'Brian show up in a couple episodes based around young recruits out of the Academy, and Riker could shoe up in an episode or two about something he is doing now as an Admiral and maybe he has a ship with Worf as his Captain and Troy as his Counsel as he works diplomatic issues and Seven and the Enterprise crew have to assist with some dangerous conflict resolution from a new... or old but not heard from for a long time enemy like let's say the Breen. The Federation is going to need to rebuild from this latest deal but you could use the Legacy characters to fill out the storyline on occasion going forward. Tie them all together around the Enterprise/Seven crew having to lead a new fleet.

And just like DS9 Star Trek Legacy could still do mostly stand alone/episodic stories. Most of DS9 was episodic stories with story arc at the end & the start of the season with the middle of the season being stand alone stories. Star Trek Legacy could use the Dr. Who formula where you have stand alone episode with a B plot that runs the entire season. Even if Star Trek Legacy takes a tone similar to SNW, SNW is set in the 23rd century before Captain Kirk and Star Trek Legacy is set in the 25th century. You can still use the episodic formula and have weekly adventures that are different than SNW.

I don't think the petitions directly get a show made, but instead add to the body of interest in a potential show, that the studio takes into account. Essentially: ratings, overall praise and interest in the writing and production, general feedback on the show runner(s), fans making themselves heard online through social media and petitions, and the studio's overall feelings on the show's ability to generate revenue through subscriptions and merchandise compared to its production cost, and how potential show runners and production teams delivered in budget and time..

I think Captain Shaw already proved he wasn't an idiot when he didn't hesitate for a second to defend Jack Crusher when he learned his true identity. And on the "Commander Seven" thing, I think it was clear that Shaw's problem was with the Borg, he hates Picard because he was Locutus and tries not to let anything remind him that Seven was a Borg. What if Shaw's ship with all the legacy characters, it has to merge its crew with the Borg Cube from the season 2 finale of Picard and the new Queen to fight a new Borg threat. You have a Federation ship with more Borg technology than Federation technology, a captain facing and dealing day to day with what he fears and perhaps hates the most and you have the next generation of the next generation saving the galaxy or at least trying to.

He's a reporter--that gives him an excuse to be anywhere, witnessing anything--especially places where he's not supposed to be. And he's intriguing. Say the cultural exchange between him and Ferenghis went both ways--picture him as greedy for truth as Quark for latinum. Absolutely ruthless about exposing lies and getting the real story out there. He'd have opposition at every turn and the audience rooting for him! The series would have a certain noire patina, being about a man who lost both parents and his best friend, and who knows what it's like to have a demon inside him. His show could go places!

So with the crew ended up doing is destroying the space station and blowing it up into 1 million pieces and the space station started at the end of the episode the building itself. They could probably have the space station come back with a vengeance one of these shows and retaliate against the president crew of the enterprise. In someway, maybe even take control of the enterprise. And have the enterprise try to kill them in addition to the space station. What do you think about that?

My dream ideas for a series: "The Romulan War" - Plots follow a multi-episode storyline, all centred on different ships throughout the Earth-Romulan war. "Star Trek: Andromeda" - Basically a huge reset-button. A giant ship, housing up to 2,000 crew is sent on a one-way journey to explore and colonize the Andromeda galaxy. We've seen a lot of the Milky Way but it's almost like the only galaxy in the universe. It could either traverse through a temporary wormhole, or travel there using an experimental technology. And: "Star Trek: Utopia Planitia". It could literally be just one season, showing how Starfleet ships are brought to life. We only get to see construction scenes either in timelapse form, like in Beyond, or brief moments like in Enterprise when Columbia was shown.

The answer to the serialized vs episodic question is to do it the way DS9 did it -- _both._ Episodic _within_ a serialized arc.

2- part and 3-part stories redeemed ST: Enterprise in its 4th season, seems like that format could work really well for the Legacy show.

Even if the legacy TNG cast aren’t regular characters, having the LaForge sisters and maybe Jack Crusher around certainly opens up room for those characters (and others from DS9 and Voyager, maybe even Lower Decks) to appear now and then. (Admit it, it would be great to run across Jack Quaid in live action as Captain Boimler.)

I just heard this commentary about commentator's hopes to see more interaction between Shaw and 7 after Picard 3 ended. Unfortunately, Capt Shaw died in second to last episode of Picard Season...so unfortunately that great interaction can't now occur if Legacy DOES come into being. All that being said, I agree...I'd have LOVED to see Shaw and 7 interact in Legacy..Shaw was THE best character and development of Picard 3...especially his killer speech in 10 forward in Episode 7( I believe) about how Picard wiped everyone of his friends out at Wolf 379...thoughtful writing about 7 and her development and experiences is where some rich potential exists.. we'll see what if anything comes about.

An Unnamed Admiral Leonard McCoy showed up in "Encounter at Farpoint". Captain Picard briefed Sisko on the Bajoran situation, and Chief O'Brien transferred to DS9 from the _Enterprise_-D in "Emissary". Quark and Morn were both on DS9 when _Voyager_ was preparing to leave. The Maquis were introduced in TNG. The Badlands were introduced in DS9. Gul Evek appeared on TNG, DS9, and Voyager. Zefram Cochrane, played by an uncredited James Cromwell, appeared on a screen in "Broken Bow". Admiral Forrest was named for DeForest Kelley, Admiral Leonard was named for Leonard Nimoy, Commander Williams was named for William Shatner, and the dark-haired male Vulcan was named TOS, or, rather, Tos.

If I was giving the keys to create a new Star Trek show... Mirror Universe series! You could have so many story plot opportunities and very little in the way of established cannon that you could have 75 seasons and never once clash with established details! Plus... think of how many cameo and return cast you could have in it! For a super aggressive, ruthless regime, they really didn't kill too many mirror universe characters (except Discovery ones maybe) so you know...

I think it can work. Star Trek: Legacy just needs to finish or connect episodes with TNG films like see what happened to the Remans, the nexus, and more legacy characters like Kira Nerys, Quark, Miles O’Brien, Charity’s, Janeway, etc. I would even like to see episodes like what happened to Dr. Taylor from The Voyage Home, torres and Paris, Lily and Cochrane from First Contact, and use a lot of ideas from the Star Trek books. I would like to see more variety in terms of hearing different genres of music, classical and modern. More relatable moments for example Odo depressed because Major Kira is now with Shakaar, and Bashir’s breakup, Jack’s illness, and seeing bullied and racism like young Spock bullied because of him being Half-human and being dyslexic. And have some references and connections from TNG/DS9/VOY to keep newcomers and mainstreamers to get into those shows. They can even have a episode where they talk about what happened in different timelines. Maybe if they go more than three seasons, first two can be serialized, and third episodic. Or just do one episode in the first episode than three episodes serialized, than the next two episodic but have the last episode connect back to the very first episode (idea from TOS film series). Last idea would be have ideas from the Star Trek: Legacy game for Xbox 360 and use T’uerell as the main villain exploring through all these generations (and TV shows).

There are 3 shows I want made, most of which are not the ones being worked on. First off, I want a continuation of Enterprise set in the late 22nd century, either during the earth Romulan war or leading up to it, the NX-01 would undergo the Dug Drexler refit, and Trip would be retconned to still be alive. Second show would be a show set during the lost era, jus after the decommissioning of the Enterprise B and the launch of the Enterprise C, though possibly further up the timeline during the federation Cardassian war, and feature characters like Miles O’Brien and Captain Benjamin Maxwell aboard the USS Rutledge, and finally the last show I want is essentially what is being proposed with Star Trek Legacy, the next next generation’s adventures during the 25th century

I would like Ira Steven Behr to come and help co-write and work as the show runner. He was behind DS9 and he's awesome with overarching plot lines and he's not afraid to go gritty or dark. The two together would be a fantastic team. He also helped write the 4400 and worked on Outlander. He knows how to tell a good story and do character development.

I just wanna know what Geordi is hiding because I think he repaired the Enterprise D & it's in one of the hanger bays, also Seven was wrong when she said on Picard, Voyager went farther than any of the ship that was on display at Geordi museum... because if I remember correctly Picard & Kirk both ventured farther than the Delta Quadrant for a short period. An Voyager had more of a extend stay in the Delta Quadrant. My opinion...

Actually, 35,000 signatures is a lot. A few thousand letters saved TOS from cancellation at the end of season two. Just like politicians, industry execs assume that for every person who actually communicates with them, there are ten people (or more) who feel the same way but didn't bother to write or sign. There's nothing like a guaranteed fan base to help greenlight a project. So don't underestimate the power of the people's voice!

I suspect Star Trek Legacy would involve various legacy characters from the first 5 series. Both Archer and Kirk's bodies are on the station and the other 3 series are all in the direct time line. A well written checking on those characters from the past would do well. That's something SNW, LD, SA, and prodigy can't offer. It would also raise views of existing properties whish would help ST revenue. It's honestly a no brainer. Give the fans what they want.

I would definitely love to watch both a Star Trek Legacy and a Strange New Worlds, even if they're kind of similar. However, I'm a big fan, so I think you're right in that it could be /Potential point of failure to make both shows episodic explorations. One way they could offset this, it simply and shows apart from each other. Essentially, you get one show, then six months later you get the other show. This would help keep people subscribing to Paramount+, and fill peoples desire for Trek between each show.
